After our recent one night stay at SSR on Dec 28th 2006 on on impromtu trip to Florida, we decided to do New Years there at the end of the year.

We are going on the DCL Western Caribbean Dec 15th-22nd, then going to my parents in Florida for Christmas. We were planning on going home on the 26th but now decided to stay at SSR from the 26th-1st.

I called yesterday and booked the 26th, and will call on Monday for the 27th and the 28th, on Tuesday for the 29th, etc. Hopefully, there won't be any nights that aren't available.

We figure we will do the 26th-30th with the kids, then drive to my parents on the 31st, drop the kids off (an hour and a half drive), and come back for NYE at Pleasure Island.

So who else is planning on NYE at Disney?

I'll be there!! December 26 - January 1 at BWV. We already have a BW view studio reserved for 12/26, and will be calling tomorrow for the nights of 12/27 and 12/28.

How did you book the 31st yesterday....I thought we had to wait until today? (or are you calling now?) Sounds like it will be a nice 2 week trip.....a few days in the hustle and bustle of BWV at New Years, then a nice, relaxing, wind down at SSR.

I figure the same....fun, busy time on the Cruise, Christmas at my parents, and some relaxation at SSR.

So, is Pleasure Island packed on NYE?

What have other people done on NYE when they are there?

Hi, I will be going to SSR for NYE this year. I went last year. I know this is going to sound like something you might not want to dobecause you may want a night yourselves, but the kids would love NYE at SSR. Also, adults do to. The view of the fireworks for DTD is better than it actually is at DTD. They do a huge pool party for the kids and have an open bar for adults. It was a blast for everyone there! The reason it was better was because of the crowd that we could see at DTD. It was packed. At SSR, there were a good number of people, but not as congested. We had a great view at the lake and were so close that debris was literally falling near our feet. After that, it was a simple walk back across the street to our room instead of having to deal with the crowd at DTD. They had a DJ as well for the pool party and plenty of great party favors. It was really nice.

Thanks for the info....we may end up doing that since it sounds like fun.....maybe do Pleasure Island on a different night with an in room babysitting service.

I called to book my first 2 nights at ssr-2bdrm (since they are during peak) and the CM (are MS people called CMs?) said that I should do day by day for the next 2 days. And this is DVCs ugly stepchild where nobody wants to stay and you can always get at 7 months- interesting. Maybe SSR is more desirable than some people think. I guess it may just be alot of people securing and then planning to switch at 7mos. which would open up a bunch of rooms.

I'm booked for 12/29-31. This will be our first NYE at SSR and we are really looking forward to the experience.

Now that the reservation has been made, I'll officially say that we will be there. This will be the 4th time in the last 5 years. We went with a Boardwalk View 2BR this year. Should be lots of fun watching the crowds on the Boardwalk.

Thanks jjk1107,

Based on your lovely description, just booked SSR for NYEs. I will be there by the pool party with my DD-8.

This will be my first stay. Any other hints?

We are considering NYE at ssr, How soon do you think we'd need to book? Would probably go 12/28 to 1/1, either a studio or 1 bedroom. Is MK still decorated for christmas at that time?

Thanks in advance
John

We'll be there! We spent this NYE on the Poly Beach after a wonderful dinner at 'Ohana. When those fireworks went off all around the lake, and the voices of the characters did the countdown to midnight, I just lost it and started crying like a baby! I was so glad to be THERE on NYE! I'm HOOKED and every year I can do it, I'm gonna be there again:)

Not sure where to do dinner for NYE 2007/2008 but it will be somewhere good!
