So Who Got Photography Gifts for Mother's Day?

My gift arrived a couple days ago, but it IS my Mother's Day gift. I got a Canon 28-135 IS lens. I just got my DSLR (XTi) for my birthday in January, so I am pretty happy to get a new lens (only had the kit lens) already.

As many of you know, Mrs Y and I agreed to a shared gift in honor of Mother's Day and Father's Day, the incredible Sigma 150mm APO Macro lens for our NIKON s. We've put the lens thru its paces as a medium tele this weekend and have concluded that we have a winner.

Suburbanmom--I know exactly where your pictures are taken! You did a great job. I take my girls to Sugarcreek Reserve all the time! It's one of my favorite photo places for them as well. It looks like the creek has lots of water in it. I will be time for an outing--nothing they like better than to race down the steps where your boys are sitting and to jump into that water.
If you see someone with a camera and two yellow Labs there, (trying to keep the camera dry and the Labs wet!) it will probably be me--be sure to say hello! LOL

I got a new puppy for Mother's Day! :dog: She's a little timid so after she's adjusted I'll get some pictures posted. Don't want to scare her with that big scary black thing! ;) (So a new photography subject)

beautiful Lmarge! A co-worker has the 85 1.2 - but I can't afford that without robbing a bank!

I got my 50 1.4 - can't wait to try it out on some portraits.

Thank you!:) I have the 50mm on my list but I'm not sure on the f-stop - the 1/8 is very inexpensive, and I've not checked into the f/1.4. Would love the faster lens I think, just gotta check the "available funds" person (aka dh!) I've borrowed a friends 50mm f/1.8 and it's a nice little lens. What made you choose the f/1.4 over the f/1.8? And is it worth the extra $ for the extra speed? And your right, the 85mm f/1.2 would be super sweet - but short of a lottery win, it's not happening!

I knew there was someone else from my area who posted here, and I just couldn't remember who it was! Yes, the water was quite high and I yelled at my younger son several times to get off the rock path across the water...and the water was FREEZING! We were there for photos, not fun, darn it! :rotfl:

If I spot you, I will definately say hello. :)

I did! My hubby bought me a Digital Foci Picture Porter Elite 120 GB carry around hard drive. I had a smaller one, but I'm a gadget junkie. This little thing is great! I can have my music, my photos, and even videos of my kids in my purse! (oh, and for paid sessions I can instantly back up my CF cards on location *just in case* without a computer!)

No exactly for my camera but I got Photoshop Elements. I tried some stuff yesterday but I have a lot of learning to do before it makes sense. I need to find a good book to help me.

I gave Mom flowers and a card, and ordered the 50mm f/1.4 so I could take many more photographs just for her.

Well...maybe not just for her...

This could be considered a Mother's Day present, DW and I just bought in on DVC at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I might be a little more excited than my wife.:yay: But I'm still waiting to get my tripod.:confused3
