So who else has spent hours in the Kmart closing sales?

We stopped by Kmart today - one close to us is closing and are having 20-60% off. On top of that, they are clearancing the fall/winter clothes out. So, things that are already cheap cheap cheap, are even cheaper cheaper cheaper.

What normally would have cost us over $200 cost only $55 today. If you have a closing Kmart in your area, I'd suggest stopping by. DW could have spent days in there looking for more clothes they had so much. It was like Christmas, but better.

DW was in heaven. I was laughing, seeing her go from rack to rack. :D:D:D

We've been theire several times here lately, we've been buying toddler clothes and toys, for our adoptive son we hope to have home by this summer and with those clearance prices he's set for summer andnext winter too  You can't beat $2 for an outfit!

We have one close to us, but haven't had the chance to get there yet. I'll have to try and make time.

The ones around here were actually raising the prices, then putting the percentage off on it..

Then it was actually the "regular" price it was before going out of business.

That is a fairly common practice unfortunately. And with the lack of returns., it makes me not want to shop there.

As for the $2 a outfit, that is one of the "usual" prices in the clearance rack at Target, and I can still return it.

Jeff...never, ever, EVER laugh at a woman at a sale...it could be VERY dangerous for your health....;) ;) ;)

I'm with Cindy on this one. I remember when CLover when out of business and I thought wow! I had a cart full of stuff then came across something with the old sticker and realized they upped all the prices and then took it off. So you really need to know your prices especially on big ticket items.

They did the same thing with the 2 K-Marts that closed here! Granted they didn't do it with everything but a good percentage of it was like this.

On the last go around of store closings one of the news stations here compared prices between closing and non closing stores and they had raised prices quite a bit, sometimes paying more than regular prices. I went to one closing now and noticed that some of the prices were quite a bit higher than before. Not much of a sale to me.

My experience was like CindyB's. The prices seemed too high to begin with and there wasn't anything there that I couldn't have gotten cheaper at Target, WalMart or Sears so I didn't buy anything.

I'm jealous yours was so good. DD could use some new jeans for next year.

I usually go during the final week-the clearance clothes are 90% off the final price so 40cents for a pair of pants can be a good deal. However, I found the prices right now are more expensive than going to the non-closing K-mart and getting the sale price. I think I'll stick with final clearance prices withthe bonus coupons at the regular dept. and mall dept. stores and then hit up K-mart during the final week for things that cost fifty cents or less.

The first several weeks after the announcement of the closings our local store had everything for 10% off:confused: I'm sure the deals are better now but have no desire to go back. They also have people walking the surrounding roads carrying signs advertising the sales. Anyone else see that at their stores?

All the ones here in Texas are closing. I got a good deal on my microwave at the one in my hometown before it closed.

Krisu,
I saw the same thing. In the middle of a super snowy, well below zero windchill kind of day. We can read the signs that don't "move around"-- lower the prices and don't pay for the poor guy to freeze!

We have several KMarts near by only one is closing....but they could close them all as far as I am concerned! I stopped shopping in them several years ago when they never had the items I was looking for. There the item would be in their flyer the 1st. day of the sale go down to the store and no product!

I would go to the customer service (?) desk and they would always have some silly reason for why they didn't have the product on the first day of a sale! That was it....no more. I did send a note to the president of the company a while back when he was asking for reasons/solutions to their financial problems. I suggested he stock the product they advertise and then get some cashiers who didn't mind waiting on the customers...that would have been a big help!

OOP's, I think I have some KMart issues!

To answer the question: No, I haven't been to the sales but I wish you all happy shopping!:)

Boy, do I miss this store! I LOVED Clover and don't know why they closed.

We haven't found many good deals there, but I did find some Christmas and winter Disney shirts on clearance for around $2.80.
