this property that Universal owns???? I did not know that they had additional property to sell. At least not big enough to build another theme park if they wanted to. Is it behind RPR?????

Thanks!

Here's a map of the area:

http://www.occc.net/roadway_dev.asp

They call it the "south campus". It's east of International Drive, south of Sand Lake, with Universal Blvd boardering it to the west.

We really should try to do SOMETHING about this. Even if it doesn't help, we need to let the Universal park runners how we feel about this possible shortsided decision.

I plan on e-mailing, writing, calling and leaving a comment in person. They should know people feel passionatly about this.

You think I'd get in trouble if I talk to regular guests in the park, let them know whats happening, and ask them to leave a comment if they think it's a bad idea?

Doc,

Not at all. I think that would prove that they have more loyalists than they think and maybe it could make a difference!!!

Due to the economy, I don't forsee any new parks any time soon, but that can and will all change.

What I can't figure out is if all this stuff with different Hotel companies appeared to be already "in the works" then why would Universal suddenly change thier mind.

That is a LOT of hotel space in a short area, and the convention center and a few golf courses doesn't come close to using that capacity.

But I agree, find out what we can do, if the sale plans havent been completed yet.. :(

Edit: I brought up a terraserver map (from 1999) of the land they have beside IOA.

At the top of this picture, just to the left slightly, you can see the left half of IOA, then there's a big plot of...what looks like dirt, and there is some being used by a parking lot apparently, and some for the Royal Pacific, but one smaller road, and you have plenty of room for a 3rd park...

Chris--

From your mouth to the "suits" ears....LOL....

Really, thank you for sharing that. There may be hope yet.

I also sent an email to Universal corporate.

Who knows, maybe they'll reply with "other options" in the plans
