So...When is everybody going to F&W?

Gotta plan a LONG trip, Aaron. The expo for the half is September 30th, and the Swan/Dolphin classic isn't until October 7th or 8th.
I'm bookending both events Amy. Running when I get there and experiencing the Food & Wine Classic the last full day of the trip (10/7). Can't wait for both events and to see everyone.

We are thinking of going the first weekend - this will be our first ever F&W trip. What is that first weekend like? We'd actually be there Friday during the day probably. Any idea about crowds for the first weekend??

Speaking from my experience last year World Showcase was not too busy when it opened (11:00AM). Lines at the kiosk for food & drinks were not long at all, but as the day progressed lines got very long. On the weekends lines at the kiosks were extremely long; especially in the evenings (weekend nights). Locals attend Food & Wine on the weekends which makes the crowds insane. Your best bet would be to get to World Showcase as early as possible and to avoid weekend evenings. Just my two cents worth.

That sounds awesome. Hopefully they will make substantial changes to the Wine and Dine after party this year.

Agree! One of two things; reduce the number of tickets to the event or charge a little more for tickets and open up all of EPCOT including the attractions.

And fix the baggage area so it doesn't take an hour to get your bag. That sort of nonsense should be served for the death march after the NYC marathon.

Weekend nights are very crowded, but you should be good if you go during the day on Friday. I'd say crowds were very reasonable until around 4ish when it got steadily more and more crowded.

:thumbsup2.... We have a boardwalk view booked and that is the weekend for the Swan Dolphin Food events as well (They are very well done)...

I am trying to get a friend to go with me and it looks like the second weekend in October. We want to line it up woth the swalphin event! She is a teacher and we usually get a nice rate at the swan/dolphin. We love the location and the Cabana pool bar there!

We'll be there 9/30- checking out 10/8. Anyone wanna get together for a meet at the food and wine classic on the 7th?

We're also hoping to be there for the Swan Dolphin Food & Wine Classic, probably a few days before. Since AirTran only flies out of Allentown on certain days, our stay will be limited. Probably October 5 - October 9th.

If you don't mind flying into Sanford, check out Allegiant also. They sometimes run some pretty good deals.

I couldn't go opening weekend even if I wanted, since my work schedule has conflicts with the month end financial closing. I never can take off the last week or first week of any month. (Which is also the reason I can't book the London/Paris ABD. :sad2: )

So I have already booked October 8-16 at Beach Club Villas, planning on doing the Swolphin food and wine thing on the 8th. I'm not 100% sure I'm keeping those dates. I might plan a shorter trip and put some points towards another December trip. Or maybe move the trip to my birthday to catch the tail end of the festival and come back a few weeks later for holiday stuff.

DH and I will be going Oct 14-22nd celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary - cannot wait!!!!

Oct 1 -6 or something around that. Running out of DVC points :sad2:

I know the feeling Ros. I looked at ours and have decided to stay at Pop for F&W this year and save up some points. Need to give them a rest for a bit.

I like Pop- and since we never have a car, I like that they have deciated buses and only one stop. :thumbsup2
