So when do you start packing

We have a little over a month to go. I have a few things in my closet in a box. Girls don't know we are going so I will give my self a week.It usually takes me a month. I'm off to Target tonight to get some summer stuff we need. Hopefully they still have it out.

I have been putting stuff away on the sly because we are surprising our kids. I bought all new toiletries stuff - toothbrushes, etc. because we will need them anyway, and then I don't have to worry about last minute packing of things. I have all our Disney shirts and most of my clothes piled and waiting. I have also started The Lists. One for each of us, and then a master with batteries, sunscreen, etc. I know what I'm packing for each day for the kids and so I'll make sure all the laundry is done a few days before we go and I'll start packing in secret up in the attic. We aren't telling the kids until we wake them up at 4:30 a.m. - so I need to keep it secret!

I want to say, I gotta hand it to all you people who keep your trip a secret. I am terrible at keeping exciting news to myself. I bet you all are busting at the seams. I hope everyone has a great trip!

I pack some things way. . . in advance

We have a tote in the basement which holds all the "vacation only" stuff (pins and lanyards, fih extender, etc.). Nest to that is a big laundry basket. I start putting things we will need on whatever trip is next in that basket as soon as we are back from the last trip. If I see sunscreen on sale, I buy it and put it in the basket. If I think about wantign to take a kite to fly on the beach in Denmark I buy it right then while I am thinking about it and stick it in. I had it going for about 6 months for Denmarks (we went last month). Now I am working on filling it for WDW and DCL starting November 28. It already has sunscreen, Fish extender, door magnets, hand sanitizer and snorkle gear. Since we will be traveling to a warm cliamte in winter time I will add summer weight clothes to the basket as soon as it is too cold to wear them here.

I am pretty much always fully packed (except tolietries) at least a week ahead. Maybe I am a little OCD

LOL I wish I was that organized. I usually start packing the night before we leave..all the way thru...and finish in a panic right as we leave for the airport in the morning. LOL

Each trip I say it's not going to be that way this time...we'll see. We leave in a little over 2 weeks.

I am the same way. I start packing the night before we leave and wife gets upset as she tries to get to bed early.

We aren't leave until the end of November and I already have a tub of stuff that I am filling as I think of it or come across something. !

We leave the middle of Nov, and this is what I'm doing. We have a big plastic storage box we keep in a linen closet that we throw samples in as they come in. Also in there I keep all of our vacation items in there (over door shoe holders, ticket box, collapsible laundry basket etc) I started making our packing lists the day I put the deposit on the trip

I go overboard. When I take out the summer clothes from the closet, I will make a pile of vacation clothes and set those aside... for late Decemeber! Beats taking all the summer clothes back out and tearing though everything!

I'm glad I'm not the only one!!!! We leave on Thanskgiving and also do the same thing. By the time we go I a so excited that I will no longer be tripping over suitcases, but it is a daily reminder of our upcoming trip! In fact I already have backpacks started for each of the kids. I have started to pick up little airplane entertainment items for the 3 year old and hide them so they will be a surprise for the trip. But once the cold weather hits the suitcases will come out!
