By the looks of the Community Calendar on the VMK homepage, it would appear that the theme for this month is all of the following

Christmas (still) :headache:
Football
Everest
Hotels :sad2:

So what in the name of all that is Virtual is the theme this month?

Footmashotelsrest
That's what this month's theme is

Hodge Podge?

Pot Pouri?

Lagniappe?

A little bit of this and little bit of that?

Winter fun at the animal kingdom?

Extended holidays, Everest, Football, Finding things, at Hotels?

No idea- but I did notice that the Sunday morning quests are now on Saturdays...

"Junk we want to get rid of and don't fit any particular theme" is the theme for this month. hehe :rotfl:

After Halloween items, Space Mountain track and Christmas items, I hope this month is "Save Your Credits Month"! I just could not keep my credits up after all that shopping!

This brings into my mind a thought that has been stirring since November: VMK is losing its luster.

In MHO, they really skipped over Space Mountain Month and didn't give it the recognition it deserved. Instead, they threw Football into the equation, then involved the Holidays (I like, but not in January).

The Magenta Candy Canes were slightly a let-down for me (I was expecting a green wreath, as we weren't able to buy them).

And do not get me started on Football. I hated the Baseball themed month, hated it with a passion. Then they pawn this Football theme onto us. Let us assume, that there are themes that people don't like. The good news is that it'll only last a month, then there will be a new theme.

Half of November was Football themed
December was Football themed.
January is looking to be Football themed.

For someone who joined VMK to get the feel of DLR, I am getting slightly fed up with the extraneous themes. I realize that VMK is geared towards WDW (the whole layout and look of the game mimics WDW), and I understand that WDW has World of Sports, but seriously: I want a theme that works for both WDW and DLR.

Let me remind you all when I arrived on the scene: near the end of the Tomorrowland month (I believe the Submarine pin was my first weekend pin). Since then, I have "enjoyed" Baseball, Pirates, Waterpark, Tron, Halloween, Space Mountain, and the Holidays.

Baseball was a waste of my time: the only thing that I got from that was the outfit, an outfit that I never wear.

Pirates I was good with: however there was no Pirate outfit. The Jack Sparrow costume incident will remain as one of VMK's biggest blunders.

Waterpark: surprisingly, a lot of fun. Now, I can't fully appreciate it as DLR does not have a Waterpark, but it was fun to enjoy the Slide-a-thon with friends and try to collect the beautiful looking BB and TL rooms. Also, we got the opportunity to play our usual games for Blue crates, something I found highly entertaining.

Tron: At first, I didn't really like it. But in retrospect (and after playing KH2), I have more of an appreciation for it. Maybe they should do a theme for every one of the Kingdom Hearts worlds....

Halloween: Quite enjoyable! I loved collecting the new hats (Jafar and Malificent were just magnificent). Perhaps the next villain hat to come out should be Captain Hook's?

Space Mountain: Finally, I am here for a classic DLR/WDW ride month. Space Mountain is beloved in both parks, so it is a win-win situation right? Right? Nope: VMK had to mess it up by cutting the month short to celebrate Football and the Holidays.

Holidays: Started out strong but lacked a certain magic. There was no amazing thing that VMK came out with in the end. If I were to choose between the Candy Canes, I'd go with Blue, Red, and Green. They just looked very vibrant and nice. Yellow and Magenta were just ehhh. Normally I'd be ok with it, but the Magenta ended up being the climax of the Month.

Now here I am, expecting January to be a Toontown or Epcot themed month to coincide with the remarkable January 1st release that we have been waiting for. Well, as with everything great in VMK, the land release is just around the corner. Right there with Flying Carpet magic, the Davy Jones costume, the alternate Jack Sparrow costume, and the Seagull Post. Instead, January is turning out to be a filler month. Nothing too spectacular.

Maybe it's because VMK has a slight Winter Cold.

Get better soon, VMK...

Tron: At first, I didn't really like it. But in retrospect (and after playing KH2), I have more of an appreciation for it. Maybe they should do a theme for every one of the Kingdom Hearts worlds....

That I have to say would be pretty sweet!

Wow Pirate. I'm sorry you have been so unhappy with what VMK has put forth to entertain you. Truly. If you have "not enjoyed" it THAT much, I am truly surprised you still play.

Allow me to play devils advocate:

Space Mountain month had new ride pieces, the return of long awaited rocket couches, and a ride competition that allowed players to challenge themselves and show their creativity. Rewarding all with a well sought after 8/9 pin. What fun!

Baseball month - I guess it's a matter of opinion, but other than the almost-impossible "rurple" hat quest, I really enjoyed baseball month. A fun and creative room - oh how I LOVE those gophers - and new decor pieces for us to play with too!

As for football - I think that instead of giving us a "football month" which may not appeal to all (THANK YOU!), they have made football items available for those that love the game. December was certainly NOT football themed, it was holidays all the way. I view it as some football mixed in with the holidays, which I suppose my football loving friends would tell you is how the holidays should be.

As for joining VMK for a DLR feel - I think maybe you misled yourself there. VMK is the Virtual Magic Kingdom. There is more than 1 Magic Kingdom. Certain elements of the game mimick WDW while others are DLR similar.

For your brief summary of each month:
Sorry you feel baseball was a waste of your time. I LOVE the room and the hat! If you never wear your outfit - I might suggest trading it. My trade button is on fire every time I put that thing on.

Waterpark month clearly was there to promote WDW's waterparks during summer travel. And as you said, 2 new rooms, new ride pieces, and for those that were good at ghosts or fireworks, blue crates. (Bummer none were in pirates, huh?) And I LOVED the swimsuits! My 1 complaint - enough with the 100 credit posts.

Tron, again, a new cool room and fun game reward pieces (cabinets and tables).

Halloween was wonderful. Those of us who have been wanting Halloween "stuff" FINALLY got our chance.

Space Mountain: Again, I thought it was not "messed up" by football, just accented with it. A full month of football would have probably lost a lot of players that do not care for the sport. Again, I will say I was unhappy with the 100 credit posts. Building my ride, I DID go broke 100 credits post at a time.

Holidays: I have to disagree with you strongly here. You say there was nothing amazing that vmk came out with for us.

Those sleighs are SOOOOO cool looking! Great design, new, clever. And the return of the items that those of us who have played for a long time have been DYING to have the chance to buy. I DO feel the give-a-gift was a bit weak, as opposed to a new item, but at least it was not an item already on sale. I MUST add - vmk remembered that there are people out there that dont celebrate Christmas and made items for those who celebrate Channukah as well. I can understand if it did nothing for you, but many were ecstatic at having their holiday recognized!

As for January, I think it is too early to know what pulls it all together. Who knows? Maybe vmk knows that there are players out there floating around zero credits every Monday and giving us a chance to recover from the holdiays.

It's January 2nd. Maybe it's a bit early to say just what January is "turning out to be."

I DO agree 100% with you on the Sparrow Costume. They promoted it, got us excited about and then made it available through a very repetitive, boring, 1 in 5,000 chance of getting it, "game." Not good VMK.

I am so sorry that you do not enjoy VMK as much as it seems you do. Please understand that I am not saying you are wrong for any of your views, they are your opinions. I am simply offering another view.

I hope you find something in vmk that gives you what you are looking for, but remember, you can always choose not to play if it does not give you the entertainment you want. I hope you find the magic.

Pirate-Emery, it appears we are on the same page. :lmao: I don't get all the sports-themed stuff. I mean, what does it really have to do with Disney? Granted, we do have All Star Sports and Wide World of Sports at WDW - but, in my opinion, these represent the worst hotel (motel, really) and least interesting attraction in all of WDW. Why waste our time on silly sports themes and items when there are so many REAL Disney themes left untouched (Fantasyland month? Yeah! Princess month? I could rock that... Neverland/Disneyfairies month? - yes, please!) It doesn't even seem like effective marketing to me. I mean, why dredge up football and baseball when they have no merchandise or dvd releases coinciding with that? How about a cool mini-contest or quest that gets you a related-item every time a new Disney dvd is released? Here we kill two birds with one stone, interest is drummed up for the movie, and vmk players get cooler items. Everyone wins. :goodvibes

I agree all the way with Pirate. They could have done so much better with the whole month-theme thing, it started well and died a horrible death. I mean HORRIBLE. Since August, when they ran out of ideas and did another quest month, it's gone downhill. Football/Space Mountain/ Christmas month was November and it seems also January. If they're going to squash together, at least let them have something in common... :(

As far as the January 1st release of a new land goes, I don't think anyone ever said it would be on January 1st. It was in the newsletter as an early January release. I also think that it was mentioned somewhere that January was going to be a look back on past months, so as for what January holds, lets just wait and see. It may be a great month to save credits and finally get a chance to go back to just visiting and hanging out with friends for awhile. A month to slow down and enjoy the game, what a great thought!:)

I don't know if it is more of the idea that the sports months don't seem as disney to me but I didn't mind them at all- there are tons of disney sports movies out there as well as Wild World of Sports, All Sports Resort and ESPN...

I think the baseball month came at the time it should- and really football is more of a season than a month. They said they were releasing it when they did and leaving it there until the Superbowl for everyone to have time to get everything they wanted so I assumed at least each week would have a little bit of football-

I think they could have done more for pirates month in the game- but I see they were pushing the other game more and I belive that may have been a server test

I really feel the holidays (Halloween and the Christmas Season) were done well- and we didn't have a repeat of the dreaded halloween maze event (boy have they come a long way since then) and the pumpkins didn't stay rotting on main street until Thanksgiving either.

By the names of the games it really is hard to tell a theme for this month-

but usually it is the pins that determine the theme- so I'm guessing we are getting hotels again- probably a slow season attempt to encourage people to spend some time in one- lol.

Winter holiday and sleighride games are fine with me- I'm guessing we will no longer receive the green candy cane or wreath pin or red driedal chair as prizes- but for those who are in the north snow is rather common in January isn't it? so I could well see a few winter themed games until spring starts to arrive.

And like I mentioned before superbowl hasn't happened yet so I would think football games would continue with a slight increase bringing us to the big game... I do wonder if they will release cheerleader outfits in the dark blue and red instead of the light blue and pink they currently have?

And I don't mind them repeating somethings- they usually do have something new each time- I'd love more ice ice baby- not only did I get a mountain of that this past February but my credit level soared too lol...

But like someone posted previously- a "save your credits" month would be a good thing- we had a lot of stuff released the past few months- and I anticipate we will get more and more as new lands are released "soon" so having a "slow" stuff month is fine with me...

OOO! I hope it's shiny stuffz.
Or pie.
Cake. Yeah cake is good. :)

Oh almost forgot! About the football stuff, it is not so much a theme as an extra. It was mentioned that football stuff would be around at least until the Super Bowl. I am not a football fan or sports person at all, but the sports stuff doesn't bother me. Its there, buy what you want and then don't worry about it. And if you don't like the football stuff, don't play those host games. Having football stuff available is fine with me, it doesn't really affect what I do in the game.
