So.. What's January's Theme?

So, I see none of us made a resolution not to complain as much! LOL

Unfortunately, I have to agree, at least on the overall concept, that VMK is getting a bit boring. Were it not for the people in the game, with whom I really enjoy spending our virtual time together, "playing" is kind of dull.

I live for the host games, but i have the attention span of a newt. I would love to see new prizes weekly rather than monthly! Pirates turns frustrating for me because of the poor sportsmanship found amongst non-DIS players, and the amount of time you spend waiting and waiting and waiting for people to join. Fireworks? fugetaboutit! I am so glad they are overhauling the fireworks because at least then it levels the playing field for everyone to have a chance at making some credits. When I started in April, and got decent at fireworks by the end of May, I could consistently get 1,000 credits a game. Once in a while I'd finish top three, and about five times I made it over 240,000. Now, I get thrown out in the third round! Ridiculous. And if I do manage to find a time when all the pros aren't playing, I get a whopping 150 credits. Jungle Cruise? Other than when I am afk (and people cannot understand that my "afk room" means I am afk, and insist on talking to me), JC serves no purpose. Mansion? Really like the game, have no patience for the waiting and waiting and waiting for people to join.

Don't get me wroing, I love VMK and will continue to play with the hopes that something, sometime soon, really catches my fancy. I loved waterpark month, even though I've never been, because it started me in ride building. Halloween costumes and decorations were great, but I personally am not a fan of Halloween as a result of my beliefs. I played along and did the host games and decorated my bottom off, but I'm not a fan. Holiday decorations started way too early in my opinion. I would have liked some Fall decorations in between Halloween and Christmas, include Thanksgiving for us US folks, but I'm sure there are other cultures where a Fall/Harvest theme would have applied. Start the Holiday stuff maybe after the first week of December, then January 2nd, turn it all off.

A hodge podge month? I'm ok with that. I think having a month to decompress from the holiday frenzy is good.

My VMK resolutions are:

1. Wander around public rooms more looking for lost souls to help.
2. Find DIS folks to play pirates and mansion with, and play much more often than I currently do.
3. Continue my passion for host rooms, since many people can't ever get into them and cannot get the items. I get to be host prize fairy and gift some away.
4. Spend more time with more of my virtual friends, all of whom are wonderful folks. And encourage others to join us.
5. Be more patient with the two or three kids on my list who insist on following me around like lost puppy dogs (when what I really want to do is delete them!).

Somebody save the link to this post and remind me of these next time I "go off" about something VMK has done!

Which is why I keep signing on! I live for the parties/friends. Nothing is more fun than playing pirates with DIS people. It gives us a chance to unwind and laugh at ourselves while getting credits.

What I hope they do is try to create a more Park-like experience. Or, what a surprise? A DISNEY experience!

How about an Alladin theme? Little Mermaid? Or we can go the Park route: bring in Indiana Jones!

WDW has the Indiana Jones Spectacular
DLR has the Indiana Jones Adventure (Temple of the Forbidden Eye)
DLP has Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril
DisneySea has the Indiana Jones Adventure (Temple of the Crystal Skull)

In all of the Disney Parks there is an Indiana Jones ride/show. Shouldn't we have something in VMK that represents that?

That would be so cool! I could see Pirate-Emery now charging room tickets to his temple of doom room. A new indiana jones hat would also be extremely nice. But there may be movie rights issues.

By the looks of the Community Calendar on the VMK homepage, it would appear that the theme for this month is all of the following

Christmas (still) :headache:
Football
Everest
Hotels :sad2:

So what in the name of all that is Virtual is the theme this month?

It is the "Old Boring Stuff We Have Done Before" theme.
:lmao:

Well, if VMK is created to represent the park experience (as it is portrayed online and at the VMK Kiosk in the parks), then they should have copyrights over everything that is in the parks.

I used to think tron month was cool but now that I saw the movie not so much because the Theme Was Better Than The Movie

tron just was not and is not one of my favorite movies Leroy and Stitch come in 1st

btw milkabum Cake!! C-A-K-E Love It! Virtual Food would be even better like you could put candy in your pocket and eat it without a penny press!!

I'm not sure what January's theme is but I'm also not sure if every month needs a theme. I love the idea of a slow or catch up month! :cool1:

To be honest, I find it difficult to keep up with the various themes. I seem to be spending more and more time earning and spending credits just to buy the items I want. Finding time to build rooms or visit guest rooms is difficult for me. I think I'd prefer to have themes last for two months, perhaps with some overlap, maybe two weeks of overlap. I think I'd enjoy having no specific schedule for themes, instead having a random theme time show up unannounced. No doubt some of you think these are horrible ideas. That's the point of the rest of this post.

This isn't directed toward anyone in particular. It seems like a lot of people in VMK have unrealistic expectations about the game, expecting to like every new theme or every new thing that comes out in the game, expecting to have everything work in their favor most of the time, etc.. If you have unrealistic expectations about the game, I can guarantee you will be disappointed. There is no way for VMK to make each and every one of us happy all the time. If you are chronically disappointed with VMK, I suggest you rethink your expectations.

Some of the VMK mini-games are fun and some totally stink. Some VMK events are awesome and some are disasters. Some host games are great and some are a total waste of time. Some host games give out great prizes and some give out junk. Some VMK rooms are great and some are a waste of pixels let alone credits. Some VMK items are wonderful and some are downright ugly and would best serve as boat anchors. The thing is, if I were to list everything in VMK and have everyone rate each thing as being good or bad, there probably wouldn't be many matching lists. We all like different things.

A glaring example of different tastes is how people reacted to the New Year's Eve event. Some people think the event totally sucked. I loved the event! The extra hours alone made it wonderful for me. Even better was discovering a bunch of friends were celebrating in the game! Then the Mad Hatter hat was released - I love that hat! It's not what I expected but it's still an awesome hat! Finally to top it all off, Sparky visited the Haunted Mansion Lobby I was in and gave us all a Treasure Detector Magic Pin and the Halloween pumpkin bag/candy dispenser thing! Yes, the newsletter said something about there being gifts but I thought we would be receiving a New Year 2007 pin. I am disappointed we didn't get that type of pin but it just can't take away from the extra hours and the other positives! I believe the event did suck for some people. Thankfully, my experience was different.

One thing I want to make clear is I think it is perfectly okay for people to continue to complain about things they don't like about VMK and to praise the things they do like. There is no wrong or right about our opinions. Hopefully the negative and positive comments will help the VMK powers that be make the game more pleasant for all of us.

Maybe they're not going all-out with a theme, because they think that the new land will occupy us? I'm really obbsesed with getting a new land...

Well i see: Tiki, Neverland, Ice, Everest, Space... has creativity gone or is this just a memorial month with hotel pins and new updates?

Edit: And apparently the same goes for Feb.????

I'd say be patient. It is just after the major holidays so there may be a lag in getting the January theme out. Or, maybe the theme will be all the new things that Yavn spoke about instead of a theme per se.

Ya im suprised they would have no events, now that you mention it since all the updates

Well Today when I was in a host room I asked Lily, and she said that even she didnt know..

Where are the Tiki's I do not see them?

It's Dont Be Impaitient We Are Testing And Dont Complain About It Month

LOL

How about a month for each park? and they can have some fillers, and i dont think it matters what we want them to be since they probably have the year planned
