Bob and I usually stay close to home. I am planing a very nice romantic EXPENSIVE dinner. I bought a filet mignon.(stuffed with proscuitto & roasted peppers), roasted red potatos and fresh string beans. Having some stuffed mushrooms and chopped baked clams. A nice red wine..and I think we're good.:thumbsup2 Oh..cheese cake for desert.
Likely it's just the two of us:lovestruc ..the younger kids have plans. The big guy..he's workin' Times Square...keepin the city safe (poor guy:hug: ) I guess we'll be watching for him when the ball drops. I'm looking forward to a quiet evening..letting go of 2008 and welcoming a better and Happy 2009 for all of us!

How about everyone else?

Happy New Year my Fort Wilderness Friendspixiedust:

Working! Day shift but still working so no plans. Hope to be home by 8pm hang with the kids and DW for a while, watch the ball drop and the kids celebrate then off to bed at 1205am so I can get up at 530 for another day shift!

My son is working an overtime shift in Times Square until 4 am. Then..he gets three hours off, until his regular shift starts at 7 am! New York..the city that never sleeps, and apparently neither do the cops!:headache:

LOL, I know the felling!! Had to work 26 hours one time!! Talk about being tired!!! The good part was it was COLD so just opening the window kept me awake at times!! LOL That and knowing we were dealing with 2 outlaw motorcycle clubs and one funeral caused by the other club helped to keep the eyes open! LOL

We will be giving all Police Officers a break this year, Frank will be in bed around 9PM and I'll probably be on chat. :rotfl2:

You two rowdy hoodlums laying low for New Years are ya?....:lmao: I'm sure all those in law enforcement appreciate your efforts on their behalf!

I will be trying, once again, to indoctrinate my darling wife in one of my NYE traditions... watching When Harry Met Sally. I like to time it so the climactic scene happens just before midnight (and no, I don't mean the diner scene!!!). I still haven't gotten her to buy into watching Planes, Train and Automobiles for Thanksgiving, Groundhog Day for Groundhog Day, or Christmas Vacation for Black Friday (when the tree goes up) either, though. She doesn't much like my traditions!

You know, I haven't watched Christmas Vacation yet this year. I think we should do that tomorrow night. I know it's your black Friday pic..but I could watch that anytime..hilarious! :santa:

The man has the seasons and their respective cinematic masterpieces absolutely nailed to perfection. To every great movie, the perfect time to watch it.

I can't do Harry and Sally, though, since the kids have friends over for NYE. Not exactly a kids movie. When the kids go back to school and DW is at work, I'll have it on here when I have the house to myself. :cool1:

I just found out we're going to Phyllis' for dinner then over to Shan's for a movie.

I think he'd prefer to have his wife there, too.

Poor Reilly, he thought it was "clear" milk ;) We'll be spending the night enjoying his first New Years!

We are both working Wednesday ... but will try to escape the office early and head up into the hills. The current plans:
  • Reach the house, unpack lots of groceries and crank the heaters. We'll enjoy a casual dinner and perhaps a movie ... then head over to the ranch to spend the last few moments of 2008 and new moments of 2009 in the hot springs pool.
  • New Year's morning we'll head out for a mild off-road trip along the edges of the Cleveland National Forest to local gem mine. We'll spend the day digging and screening for treasures. I'll have "Ann's Ruby Chicken" in the crock pot ready for our return.
  • Friday: Hope to head up to Pasadena to see the post parade Showcase of Floats. I'm looking forward to taking the Angeles Crest Scenic Byway (Route 2) crossing Angeles National Forest. We'll pack plenty of food ... and picnic where ever the mood strikes. Would have loved to take the RV on this jaunt ... but road conditions suggest the FJ as the better choice.
  • Saturday ... if we are up for more off-roading ... we'll return to Cleveland National Forest exploring trails along the Palomar Divide. Might stop in for a tour of the observatory while we are cruising about. Alternative plan: horseback riding -- except that we did that last weekend.
  • Sunday: Church, serious housecleaning ... and then back to the "real world."
