So what was the final vote tally on American Idol?

I know Taylor won, but did they ever say what the actual vote totals were. I just thought it would be interesting to know. I mean they tell them every week, but I didn't hear it tonight.

I believe Ryan said 63 million, but didn't give the percentages.

Ryan only mentioned a number once, unlike Clay/Ruben in season 2 when the number changed three times during the finale. It was 63 million and he compared it to Presidential election votes, I forget what the comparison was exactly.

I'll admit - I've never voted for anyone on AI - but I've been wondering...


could someone call in and then "stall" on the line to block one person from getting votes or does it cut you off after a few minutes? Just wondering how they can keep everything on the up and up.

Our local radio station keeps making a big deal about the "fact" that more people voted for American Idol than for ANY American president. I wish that they would make clear that more votes were cast for AI than for any president because, unlike elections where it's one vote per person, I'm certain that the number of people who voted for the AI final is a LOT less than 63 million.

Oh, and the local radio station has also declared Chris D the winner.

I know that it was not a close vote. When it is, they always tell you on the show.

Also, my sister and best friend tried till after 11pm to call in a vote for Taylor. Neither of them got through a SINGLE time. Our neighbor was voting for Katharine and got through many times.

And yes, not more PEOPLE VOTED than a presidential election, more VOTES were cast. Many by the same people several times.

But also, some people never got their votes in...Taylor's lines were too jammed.
