So, what other crafts do you do?

Now that the board has been expanded to include all crafts and not just scrapbooking, let's see what everyone's into?

I dabble in:

Cross stitch
Embroidery (silk ribbon or regular)
Quilting
A few odds and ends (like making fleece blankets for family this year or creating a wine-themed tree for DH for Christmas)

What does everyone else do?

Along with sewing Disney costumes, well, I've actually only made 3, but I loved doing each one.

I got an out of print book on Disney character sweaters from e-Bay, so I'm planning on doing something from that book.

I quilt now and then, just very simple block patterns.

I also like to crochet afghans.

Rajah, have you made any Disney themed things?

I love to cross stitch, and I am now considering trying crochet again to repair my Moms afghan.

I paint, and I still do some decoupage, when I can find beautiful rice paper napkins. I want to try to make the glass plates that have the paper and sealer on the back, that will be my next project. :D

fantasymagic, You may get a few desperate PM's from me for help on the afghan repair... :D :D :D I'm all thumbs with a crochet needle!!!! :D :D :D

Just recently started crocheting. I love it. I also like to dabble in paints and stenciling. I'm about to try my hand at making a wreath that I really like, but I have to find some fabric I like, and I'm thinking about starting a scrapbook. You'd think I was bored or something, but I like to "try" and be creative and I find it relaxing...especially the crochet.

Mainly scrapbooking, now starting stamping. I've done lots of counted cross stitch, and would love to learn to crocheting! I guess I need to buy a book on it or something. Any great pointers on learning to crochet?

Snowwhite, I tried many times to teach myself crochet and had the basics down, but I got to a point where I would just end up with a big knot of yarn. I got soooo frustrated that I put it down for about a year. Then we were at the town fair and the local chapter of the Crochet Guild was there with a booth and invited me down to join them. I went and had a great time and they helped me out. Maybe you can find a chapter close by.

Refinish furniture. Is that considered a craft??

My next project is to tile a table.
Decoupage
Sew curtains, chair covers, big stuff most of my sewing has to do with decorating.

I'll try anything once, if I don't make a BIG mess maybe twice! HA HA!

I did one cross stitch on the Wilderness Lodge logo (original pattern), have created one of Aurora (sleeping beauty) though I haven't stitched it yet, and am stitching the Castle from WDW (purchased pattern).

Haven't done any embroidery or quilting or other crafts on Disney *yet*, but I have some things in mind once I get more advanced. :)

I've done just about everything except scrapping & quilting. Well, I tried knitting, but hated it - crochet is MUCH easier to fix when you make a mistake! ;) For those having trouble with crochet, it's probably a good idea to find someone to SHOW you rather than learning from a book. My grandmother taught me when I was only 4 & I never thought it was hard - so maybe it's something you need to see being done.

Other stuff I've done:
tin punch
decorative painting on wood
padded photo albums
making clothes, including a winter coat
weaving baskets
paper casting from cookie molds
pressed flowers
potpourri
candles
quilling
cross-stitch, both regular & counted

You know . . . just about anything! ;)

I used to crochet. It was back in something like 4th or 5th grade I think, though. I was also doing plastic canvas at the time. I still have some of the yarn I was using, too. Don't know why I stopped, but right now my interests are elsewhere. :) I'll probably pick it up again sometime in the future, though. :)

I do machine embroidery. I am learning how to create my own designs from royalty free clipart. I am hoping to learn how to make quilts sometime in the near future. Want to also start learning how to do other crafty things.

well, let's see, I sew, scrapbook, cross stitch and do folk (tole) painting. My New Years resolution was to do more of all of those.
My life has been so involved in volunteering that I left those by the wayside and this year I am going to work on some of my projects!!
The heck with housework!!

As a Girl Scout leader (into my 8th year!) I've tried all sorts of things.

Sewing is probably my biggest - right now I am up to my eyeballs literally in costumes for a production of Oz! (jazz version of Wizard of Oz) for our middle school. Before heading into work this morning I was finishing the lion and I think I brought a bit of his mane with me!

Scrapping is a biggy right now as well. Or will be once again after the play is struck. Mainly because I really enjoy photography and my son is now a high school freshman. I'm wondering if I can get everything converted before he graduates!

I like such a variety of crafts that I don't know where to begin, now lets see....

Knitting

Cross stitch

Stamping

Sewing - clothes and fancy dress

patterncutting for the above

Pergamano - not sure if you would call it that in the states - parchment craft

soft toy making

etc, etc , etc in fact anything that brings me pleasure - I always take some Cross stitch on holiday (vacation) with me especially for on the plane although I can't take my scissors on board now but just cut the ends at the other end of the journey!! Added to the above I love cooking and work as a cook, I love making Christmas puddings especially as presents, jams, chutney, cake decorating and loads more as well as working full time and raising 2 kids - I do like to keep busy!!!!!!!!!

Actually you can take scissors on board an airplane I just discovered! According to an inspector that was posting on the cruise board you can take the rounded point safety scissors - the kind they use in kindergarten! I know my embroidery scissors are pointed but in that situation I'd take the safety scissors. They'd cut the floss at least!

Snookhams -- there are also some round cutter things that are designed specifically to be safe for travel and are allowed on planes. One is called a Clover Cutter and is a round medallian about the size of a US silver dollar (dunno if that helps you visualize or not?). Inside is a round razor blade, secured so you *can't* remove it. There are a bunch of tiny grooves along the edge that reveal the blade, so you can slide your thread/floss over the blade to cut it. Not as good as scissors, but better than nothing. :)

I've also found that the past two times I've flown, if I take a pair of cheap baby nail clippers that do *not* have a file, they've been allowed on as well, and they cut better than the clover cutter does.

I have done cross stitching, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, flower things, as well as different Christmas ornaments of many different kinds for 17 years, plastic canvas and sewing. I think that's it but probably not. I have tried many different crafts and so far I have taught myself all of them including the knitting and crocheting. I started doing crafts when I was 26 yrs. old. Oh I forgot beadwork.

Anything with fabric! Quilting is my passion but I also sew clothing, fleece work, stuffed animals, pin cushions you name it.

Cross stitch (both counted & not)

Painting
canvas
ceramics
tole painting

Woodworking
furniture refinishing
furniture making
toys

Paper mache`
Jewelry making
Dried Floral Arranging
Machine & Hand Embroidery

Oh geeeze...everything but knit hahahahaha

I get bored with things easily so I am always trying to find new things to try.

Ooooooh, I love this thread! Let's see, I really enjoy . . . .

sewing - all kinds, quilts, crafts, clothes
cross-stitch
Tole Painting
Scrapbooking

I'll try anything. I just wish there were more hours in the day. Maybe I'll just stop cleaning, cooking and doing laundry!
