"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

Aww we love the Animation Academy! Chris and I just laugh so hard making fun of each other's drawings and arguing over whose is better :rotfl: Your's came our really good!

The Block Party Bash is a lot of fun too. Very sweet of you to give one of the stress balls to the little boy :cutie:

So what's this I hear about you maybe going to WDW this summer...would it by any chance be between the dates July 20-28?!

Cute block party pics! :)

Ahhh how cool you got to draw Jiminy Cricket! Yours came out so cuteee! I found out about Animation Academy from the DIS, and we checked it out last trip and loved it! It's a must-do for us now.

Thanks!

I kind of found out about the Animation Academy on here too after reading so many TRs. Everyone seemed to enjoy it so I decided to give it a try. So glad I did!

LOL, thanks for the compliment. My second drawing didn't turn out as good. I think a lot of it really has to do with the instructor.

SHHHH, you weren't supposed to say anything about that yet! :rotfl:;) Nah, that's what I get for posting that on facebook. It is still all hypothetical so we'll see what happens. Sadly it wouldn't be when you are there since I'll still be teaching summer school. :sad2::sad2:

Just caught up on your past few installments right now as I'm taking a break from book report grading to eat dinner!

I can't believe what the Simon judge said about Abraham Lincoln! Haha, he could take it as a good thing though because good ol' Abe was the star of the show according to Walt himself!

I like that they made a line for the Jedi training thing. I'd feel so bad if a kid was so set on being chosen and it just didn't happen! This way, you can tell your kid, "You can do it if you stand on line really early!" Personally, I would never do it, even at my age now! I think it's too scary! Even if Darth Vader moves slowly and all. It's still creepy facing him. Although not so much as Darth Maul who's on ground level! Haha, if that's his name ...

There's that mix of being sad that the game is over (TSM) but also glad that it's over because it hurts the arm so much!

Haha, I thought the same thing about the Animation Academy pencils not have erasers! I'm the one that wonders to my kids how they could possibly have pencils without erasers (like when it's worn down) in math because the point of using pencils is that it can be erased!

Do you have a pic of the foam ball that was shot out during the Block Party Bash? Haha, I was imagining the real heavy stress balls and thinking about them smacking people on their heads!

Happy Memorial Day everyone! Hope everyone had a nice long weekend. Can't believe it's over already but atleast it makes for another short week of school. You have no idea how ready I am for this year to be OVER!!!!!

Anyways, I wasn't going to say anything yet since it is all still a big MAYBE but I thought I'd share since Kristen mentioned it. As some of you might have seen on facebook, we are thinking about maybe changing our plans and going to Disney World this summer! Originally, we were planning on going to Washington DC but because of my summer school schedule and stuff my Dad is involved in later in the summer we aren't able to go anymore. I am kind of bummed since I've never been there before. :sad2: Oh well, that'll have to wait for some other time. As of right now we have about a week and a half blocked out in December/January for WDW. So why this possible change? As I mentioned in my PTR my one sister is REALLY wanting to go back since she hasn't been in "so long." After all, everyone else has been there pretty recently and the last time she was there was when we went last August (I know, horrible, right?!).

The other day we got our Annual Pass newsletter and I saw something in there for up to 40% off select rooms during the summer nighttastic nights. I jokingly told Emma about that and then mentioned something to Dad. His response was that if we were seriously wanting to do that we should cancel our reservation for December and use some of our DVC points for a trip in August. The bad thing about December is that since it is peak season, it takes up a TON of points, meaning as of right now we pretty much don't have anything left over for other trips. Dad also would like to go sometime in January since it was so nice this past Jan. and if my sister gets accepted in the CP we will want to of course go visit her, probably around spring break.

Yesterday Dad called DVC to see if by chance anything was available in August and he said Saratoga Springs was pretty much available the whole month and all the other DVC resorts, not surprisingly, have a few nights here and there. Also the airfare is pretty reasonable too meaning we could put together a relatively cheap trip. The expensive part would be trying to get to Universal to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! That's another thing we really want to do. And now that it is getting closer to opening and there have been a lot of pictures and videos it looks AWESOME.

So when might this hypothetical trip take place? I am teaching summer school until the end of July so we're looking at the beginning-middle of August (again, don't want to go too late because of school starting up again!). If we do end up following through with these plans, it might just be me and my sisters which would be pretty cool!

Like I said, it's still a maybe. It's kind of funny we are thinking of taking another August trip since we swore we'd NEVER go to Florida in the summer. I'll keep you posted if we do end up doing it!

Phew, sorry for that long post. Thoughts?

I didn't know they did a line for the Jedi Training! That is good though. I be there are still a lot of disappointed kiddos. Ooh, Darth Maul is creepy if he's the one I'm thinking of! :scared1: Like I said I am no Star Wars junkie. LOL.

Seriously, I had to stretch my arm out it was cramped so much after TSM. And even when we stopped a couple times I'd still shoot the darn thing even though you don't get any points.

Oh, don't you love that? I love when kids use PEN for math. Maybe they want you to channel your inner artist at the Animation Academy. It kind of reminds me from when I took an art class in high school and we were supposed to draw our hands without looking at the paper. Umm excuse me, I don't think so. If I did that it would look like a bunch of scribbles. Even though I am left-handed I do NOT have any artistic ability (even though I love art!).

Yes, I do have a picture of the little foam ball. I will post it later on.

Pros to going in August: Less points, less crowded (I think) than Christmas/New Years, you could go with your sisters

Cons to going in August: It's HOOOT and HUUMID (and if the last two weeks were any indication, it will be even more so than normal. The locals said it's one of the hottest/humid Mays on record-this type of weather doesn't normally happen until July! :faint:

I am that kid that used (uses) pen in math. I hate pencils. I have a whole theory on why. I was that really smart girl that everyone loved to hate because she was smart. I graduated 9th in my class (hence the 9 in my screen name). I hated using pencils because if I messed up using pen, everyone could see my mistakes and not think I was so perfect all the time. Although, it was rare I did badly in math. I'm only really bad at proofs. I had a 103% in pre-calc. :rolleyes1 Anyway, in 7th grade art class we had to put our shoe on the table and draw it without looking at the paper- the pencil "was supposed to follow the path of our eyes" or something like that. My picture was pretty bad, but it wasn't completely unrecognizable either. Let's just leave it with: I'm musically inclined, but absolutely artistically challenged!

"Maybe" trips are super exciting! I hope you get to go. Keep us posted!

Meanwhile, Bubba and I are also planning another trip at the end of August. Too bad we won't cross paths.

Forgot to grab the laptop when we left for the race this weekend, but I got a lot of reading done.

Anyways, glad you found the umbrella. Wasn't to hard to find, and it sort of surprised me, where it really is.

I'm for August, remember me and my dd's went on the cruise last year? I think it is a great time to go. Most of Florida schools, and other southern schools go back to school Aug. 5th.
We had really cheap airfare too.
I heard the parks are not so crowded either, just some of the resturants, because of the free dining.

After thinking about this today and yesterday, I am 100% on board. I know that I said I'd never go to Disney World in the summer, but just thinking about the possibility of doing this is making me so excited! For a number of reasons. One, we've talked about doing a sisters-only trip for a while, and this seems like the perfect chance. It would be so much fun! And two, I've been looking at the pictures from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and it does look so awesome. I want to go so bad!

I requested off work for the dates we talked about, so we should do it!! :cool1:

My parents always hated traveling to Florida in the summer, because of the heat and humidity. Now that there are grandkids in the picture (my sister's boys), summer trips are the norm. We typically do the parks until around lunch, then back to the resort for naps in the AC and pool time and then back to the parks for dinner and fun/fireworks.

 about a summer trip for you!!

Oooooooohhh, I sister's trip sounds wonderful and a lot of fun Sarah!! Can't wait to find out what you all decide!!!

Loved your DHS day! You and your dad got to do so much! What fun to see the kiddos take part in the Jedi Academy while you ate! I hope Gabe will want to take part when he's a bit bigger! You did awesome on your Jiminy Cricket too!! Looked just like him to me, much much better than I could ever do!!! Looking forward to more!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorryyyyyyy I ruined it!!! :headache: :sad2: Seriously, I apologize I didn't mean to ruin the surprise!! Forgive me? :flower3:

I think a summer trip, especially a sisters one, sounds great! I've been to FL once in the summer (July 05) and it's definitely boiling hot but you guys know how to tour and take breaks so I don't think it would be too bad :thumbsup2 Bummer that you can't come when we'll be down there but having a summer school teaching job is definitely good :)

Yeah, it will most likely be less crowded than Christmas time. We went last August and it was hot/humid but not unbearable. There was also one year we went in October when they had record high temps and it was super hot and humid. Now that we've done it once I know I can survive! haha The only bad thing is there's still a chance of hurricanes. :headache:

LOL, I usually hate pencils too...math is the only thing I ever use them for! Ohh, proofs, I kind of liked those. They were like little puzzles to me and I was usually pretty good at them. :teeth:

"Maybe" trips are super exciting! I hope you get to go. Keep us posted!

Meanwhile, Bubba and I are also planning another trip at the end of August. Too bad we won't cross paths.

I hope we get to go too!

Aww, bummer we'd end up missing you guys. :guilty:

Yeah, I wasn't really expecting it to be where it was either. But it was cool to find!

Oh really, they go back that early?! We went a little later last year but we didn't think the crowds were too bad. I wouldn't call it dead but definitely not as bad as Christmas.

Cool! You know we survived last summer so it's not all that bad.

Possible summer trip?! How exciting!

It is exciting! :yay:

:woohoo: for a possible summer trip!

:dance3:

First off, I have to say I love your username.:thumbsup2

That is exactly what we did last August. Parks early, then break in the afternoon and back to the parks! Though that's usually what we do anyway. We are (usually) not ones to stay out all day at one park.

Oooooooohhh, I sister's trip sounds wonderful and a lot of fun Sarah!! Can't wait to find out what you all decide!!!

I will be sure to post when we make our decision. Hopefully that will be soon...don't want to wait too long!

Ohh, I bet Gabe would love the Jedi Training Academy. And it's so cool because they have the photopass photographer there taking pictures of all the kids...such a neat keepsake! Thanks for the compliment on my drawing. :goodvibes

Sorryyyyyyy I ruined it!!! :headache: :sad2: Seriously, I apologize I didn't mean to ruin the surprise!! Forgive me? :flower3:

No, don't be sorry! Usually with any talk of a Disney trip I can't keep it a secret too long anyway. :rotfl:

It is definitely nice to have a summer school job. It's only 2 1/2 hours a day for 6 weeks and it pays pretty well too. And I'll be teaching 2nd graders, so it's an age I really like too! :yay:

All I had was a sore arm again from yanking on that string like a crazy person. Sigh. Next trip...

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I stood there for 15 minutes or so and hardly moved at all so I ended up getting out of line. Kind of a bummer since they're not there anymore so I guess I missed my chance. :guilty:

I was so disappointed to here they're gone now. I missed Bolt and Up. :sad2:

But we did get to try another new thing...the Animation Academy!

Thanks for the info on this! Definately scheduling this in... your drawing is excellent and a wonderful keepsake. Love that it's hanging proudly on the fridge!

Found the Singin' in the Rain umbrella!

Another must do! Missed this last trip. Not sure I'll want it to rain in November though.... ;)

Can't wait to hear about Tony's...... and a possible August trip? :woohoo: Take a few days off FB and I miss everything! :rotfl: You know how do-able August is and it's right around the corner!

You can't go until you finish your trip report from the last trip.

Hey Sarah! I am all caught up now! You sure do have some packed park days. I guess I am accustomed to how the boys like to go through the parks. Plus, they walk it, so we don't travel very fast..especially since my 3yo will not ride in a stroller. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you an your sister to have the summer trip.

Hi Sarah!!:goodvibes

I got behind...but all caught up now!!:thumbsup2

Great AIE pictures!! We still haven't made it there yet! Which is really surprising since I'm such a huge AI fan! Yay Lee!!;)

Great job on drawing Jiminy Cricket! Sorry you didn't get to see the UP characters.:sad2: I love that movie!!:lovestruc

Oh and Yay for a possible summer trip!!:yay::yay:I know when we went last August I was so worried because of the heat and especially the hurricanes. But it was a great trip! Hot...yes...but the crowds and wait times for the rides were good. It was definitely doable!!:thumbsup2
