"So what do you want to do next?" An April '10 TR...final thoughts 8/2 p. 63

I think that's the only bad thing about any of the shows. People are always so pushy! I've learned to just let them go. I'd rather hang back and take my time to get in instead of worry about getting separated from my party. Of course, doing that for Turtle Talk with Crush ended up being a bad idea because there were no seats left over. There were more kids who wanted to sit with their parents instead so Weird and I had to stand, which wasn't good for my condition. I'm sure I would've been fine since we sat while waiting to be let in, but both of my parents started "yelling" at me that I couldn't stand for the entire show, and I ended up getting nervous that I wouldn't be able to do it! They put it in my mind when I'm sure I would've made it out fine since the show's not TOO long. Haha, I did survive by the way. But all that to say ... haha, people have to stop being pushy and move all the way down to the end of the row.

Haha, considering how often you talk about AIE, I will definitely make sure I go see a show next time I'm there.

Yeah, there's always going to be somebody who HAS to get in first and the same with people who have to stop in the middle of the row even though they tell you to keep moving. Oh well.

LOL, yes, you should do it!

I really want to watch AIE my next trip, it looks fun! Everyone always says it's cool, and just like the real thing... I've got to try it.

You should definitely try it. I'm sure you'd love it.

Sounds like a nice end to the day. We just discovered the Single Rider line on this past trip, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who get "All the Single Riders" stuck in their head. :lmao:

Yeah, we only recently started using the single rider line and it's such a nice time saver. Whoever came up with the "All the Single Riders" song is genius.

AIE sounds so cool!!!:thumbsup2 I wish we would have been able to fit it in on our last trip. Oh well...there's always next time! Glad you were able to finish your day with TOT and RNRC!! What a fun night!!!:goodvibes

That's right, and it's more reason to go back. ;) It was another great night. :thumbsup2

The more I read about AIE, the more I want to see it! We've never done it before but I think this year I will need to drag Joe and go!!

haha you should take him. Honestly it's a blast.

We enjoy the AI shows too. We've seen a finale show once.

I do always wonder why all the pushing and shoving---If you're in the line to get in, then you're going to get in---no worries.

I think the finale is even better than the regular show!

I agree, but I guess to some people it's important to get the "best" seat even though there really aren't any bad seats. Oh well.

Personally. I think some of the "best" seats are the ones at the end of the row. You can see and hear just fine, especially with the video screens, and you can get out more quickly when the show is over. So, if people who are too important to follow instructions plop down in the middle of the row, I don't mind stepping over them.

Yeah, I don't think there is anything wrong with sitting at the end of the row.

Woo, time for another break from lesson planning! It's about time I do another update. But before I do can I share something with you? It is not totally trip-related but it sort of is. Obviously last weekend was Father's Day. Random story: I never really know what to get my dad for Father's Day and he's always saying he doesn't need anything. So the past couple years I've used my creative side to make him gifts. Last year I made a scrapbook page/frame of pictures from his college reunion since I went along. Can anybody guess what I chose to do this year? Yep, that's right, something Disney-related! I don't know how I got the idea but I decided to make another frame with one of our pictures from WDW. Here's how it turned out:

Normally when I get these brilliant ideas they never turn out as good as I picture them in my head but I think this turned out pretty decent! I just bought a regular 5x7 wooden frame from Michael's and some Disney scrapbook paper. I tore the paper into smaller pieces and glued it onto the frame. It was actually pretty fun and I'm tempted to make another one for myself. hehe

Oh, and since we're talking about Father's Day (I know, only a week late...) we also went to the zoo since dads get in for free. I love the zoo! Here's a couple pics from our day:

They just built a whole new giraffe house. It's pretty cool! We didn't do it but I'm pretty sure there are even certain times when you can feed them on the outdoor observation deck.

We got to see them outside later in the day...

The peacocks were showing off. haha See the little prairie dog too?

This I found pretty interesting!

I have to brag, I am quite proud of this picture.

OK, that's enough randomness for now...back to the trip report!

Saturday, April 10, 2010

So far on our trip we had been to rope drop at the MK, DHS, and DAK. That left only one park: Epcot! We were up early enough again to get there for opening (call us weird but we rarely miss a rope drop). I don't think we had to wait long at all before they opened the turnstiles and we were in the park.

The obliagatory SSE shot:

As we made our way toward the rope I spotted some more topiaries for the F&GF. Giraffes!

It's going to be weird in August when all of those will be gone. Well, maybe not...but I have to say I really like seeing Epcot all decked out for the festival.

When we reached the rope near Innoventions we were pretty close to the front. Yay, less people in front of us for the stampede to Soarin! I should mention that normally we might head over to the other side of Future World since my dad and sisters like to do Mission:Space. But since I don't have the guts to do it we didn't bother. Sorry, Dad! As we were waiting I saw this one family who I swear was probably a DIS family. They were a family of 4 I think, 2 girls and they all had on these self-made orange t-shirts. I want to say they were Star Wars related. I should have said something to them because only a DISer would make t-shirts! hehe

Shortly before the little opening ceremony some of the FW cast members came out to help with the mad rush after rope drop.

I don't know why but I think that the Soarin costumes are one of the best in all of WDW. Then some of the characters came out too. See how close to the front of the pack we were? WOOT.

And I guess this is just a random crowd/lack of crowd shot. Not too many people behind us either. They must've all still been coming. LOL.

Soon they did the opening show (characters come out and the family of the day comes out in a Test Track car) and we were off to the Land! Whenever we do Soarin first I always wonder what the CMs think about everyone going over there. Do they think we're all nuts or are they just used to it? Anyway, we decided to just do standby since there weren't a whole lot of people ahead of us. We must've been on one of the first flights of the day. :thumbsup2 The ride was great as usual but I have to admit I was a little disappointed at the end when nobody applauded! What is that about?! Usually when it's over everyone starts clapping. Oh well.

Next up was Test Track. I can't remember if we did single riders or standby. :confused3 I do know that as we were walking through the queue we were looking for some of the things mentioned in the Hidden Magic book. On one of the desks I found a hidden Mickey!

I wonder who the people in the pictures are. Imagineers who worked on the ride or their kids? Anybody have any idea?

Our wait was pretty minimal, I'd say no more than 15 minutes. So again we had pretty good luck getting the headliners out of the way.

up next: Pixie Hollow, the Bayou, and "Is this a scary ride?"

nice job on the frame!!! I wish I was crafty like that! In college, I was really into scrapbooking and now with not a whole lot of time on my hands and working all summer, I tend to find myself buying albums and just doing it the old fashion way!

Cute frame! Handmade gifts are always the best kind to get :goodvibes

You got some really great zoo pics, love the ones of the bear and the elephant.

No one applauded after Soarin'??? I don't think that has ever happened when I've ridden, people always clap at the end!

That is such a cute picture frame. Father's day was a great day for a trip to the Zoo. I didn't know about the new giraffe exhibit, and your picture of the elephant is great.
Love Soarin and Test Track, a great start to any day.........

OMG girl, that pic frame is SO good! I really like it! And I'm sure your dad did too.

Wow, there was not much of a crowd that morning! The Family of the Day shows up in a Test Track car?! How neat!

That frame is really cool!!! What a great gift. :goodvibes

I really like the Soarin' CM uniforms too. They're so unique!!

Aww what a great gift you got for your dad! The frame is so cute.

The zoo pictures came out really good, I love the elephant one :cutie:

That's so weird no one clapped for Soarin'! I can't think of a Soarin ride I've been on that no one has clapped. I guess people really were half asleep that morning. That probably explains why everyone was lagging behind for rope drop

Sarah knows how much I love her personalized gifts. She mentioned the collage of pictures from my college reunion last year, and she also did one with pictures from Michigan football games we've gone to over the years.

The rope drop crowd at Epcot might have been smaller than usual in part because, like DHS and DAK the two days before, they let people past the ropes about 15 minutes earlier than usual. I think we arrived at the turnstiles a little after 8:30 and they were already open and we didn't have to wait long at the ropes before we headed to Soarin'. I also think that the Easter week crowds, which we didn't think were that bad to start with, were thinning out.

We did go through the regular standby line at Test Track; I don't think they even had the single rider line open yet and, if they did, it had the same wait as standby. We were there before any FP returns so we didn't have to compete with that. We pretty much went right through the queue area into the preshow room.

I didn't mind missing Mission Space this time because I had done it on my last 2 trips and will do it again when one or both of Sarah's sisters are along.

I love that frame! You did such a good job!

Thank you! :goodvibes

haha, that is kind of how I am. I usually go in spurts where I'll do a lot and then go a loooong time without doing anything. I have a lot of unfinished projects...:rolleyes1

Cute frame! Handmade gifts are always the best kind to get :goodvibes

You got some really great zoo pics, love the ones of the bear and the elephant.

No one applauded after Soarin'??? I don't think that has ever happened when I've ridden, people always clap at the end!

Thanks!

Yeah, thos two are a couple of my favorites too.

I know, it was so strange! Maybe everyone had already ridden it before.

That is such a cute picture frame. Father's day was a great day for a trip to the Zoo. I didn't know about the new giraffe exhibit, and your picture of the elephant is great.
Love Soarin and Test Track, a great start to any day.........

Thanks! It was a nice day to visit and an extra perk Dad got in for free. We used to have the zoo pass but not anymore.

OMG girl, that pic frame is SO good! I really like it! And I'm sure your dad did too.

Wow, there was not much of a crowd that morning! The Family of the Day shows up in a Test Track car?! How neat!

I hope he liked it! LOL. No, I think he did. :)

Yup, they come out in a little car. It's pretty funny.

That frame is really cool!!! What a great gift. :goodvibes

I really like the Soarin' CM uniforms too. They're so unique!!

I agree. If I could work anywhere at WDW it would be Soarin partly for the uniform!

Aww what a great gift you got for your dad! The frame is so cute.

Thanks for the compliment on the frame and the elephant picture.

LOL, I know, right?! It's not like it was that early though. Who knows what was wrong with everyone.

That is true...I don't know why I thought we might've done single riders. Maybe that was the day we left.

Oh, and since we're talking about Father's Day (I know, only a week late...) we also went to the zoo since dads get in for free. I love the zoo! Here's a couple pics from our day:

Ok now I want to go to the zoo! I have to admit we have a pretty awsome zoo! I didn't know about the giraffe house!!! I love giraffe's!!

Great update! :goodvibes

Haha, I was confused for a second because I thought about whether or not I read your latest update or not since I knew the zoo pictures!

Someone should collect all the costumes that the CMs wear for each attraction! That'd be a fun project, but something I'd probably be afraid to do because a good pic would require asking the CM to face the camera.

Haha, I'll have the same commentary about the Test Track pics! Weird and I both took pics of those pics because we were curious to know who they were!

My dad is the exact same way! I do the same thing with pictures. One year I gave the ride picture of us on the Tower of Terror, the next I made a collage of pictures of him holding me when I was a baby. I tried to change it up this year and got him a really nice Ralph Lauren shirt and of course all he did was tell me I shouldn't spend money on him and he doesn't need anything! Sigh... dads.

I love your zoo pictures! That bear is BEAUTIFUL, wow!

We've never done Rope Drop at Epcot but next trip, for sure! It'll be during Food and Wine so I might as well set up a tent at Epcot cause I will be spending a LOT of time there LOL!

Oh and I love that Hidden Mickey! haven't seen thar one before!

Great job on that frame, so creative! :thumbsup2

I think the pictures on the desk are of children and grandchildren of the Imagineers who worked on TT. I'm reading the Hidden Magic book right now so I could double check that :)
