So, What Do You Think About Fall 2017 Prices?

I guess you can be happy there werent huge price increases, but I didnt think prices were good this year or last year. Everyone was upset with prices a year ago. Now their ok with them because they didnt go up as much as they thought.

When our gas went from .70 a liter to .95 a liter there was outrage in Canada. 'How could they, this has to stop'. The prices stayed the same for quite a while but the outrage continued. Then it increased more, to $1.20 a liter, more outrage. My brother-in-law said, you watch, they did that on purpose so that when the price comes back down to .95 a liter people will think they are getting a bargain and they will not complain about it. Well guess what? That's exactly what happened. People are very happy gas is .95 a liter even though they were pissed a year and a half ago.

Pretty much same here. Prices were nuts last year and there were lots of complaints. Huge increases but since the increases this year are not so much and we are comparing them to last years prices we are happy.

Funny how that all works.

I wondered about that yesterday when I called in. I called two times, once in the morning and once in the afternoon and had less than a three minute wait the first time and had no wait the second time. I have never called in on opening day and not had at least a 45 minute wait. Either they got more staff on, lots more, or the calls just weren't coming in.
I to think the demand is off a bit.

I noticed recent price decreases or many GT rates popping up on cruises that were sold out in specific cat. Then this past couple of days they are GT rates, hmmmm perhaps many cancelations

I did the math and our cruise went up 9% from Dec 2016 to Dec 2017. Same ship, itinerary and one day difference. Fantasy Western. The prices are terribly high.

After years of timesharing I cannot believe I'm paying this much for a vacay. But I'm fairly new to DCL and so I'm still a newlywed blinded by the pixie dust. And for our particular family dynamics and kids' ages it's as perfect a vacation we are ever going to get! For now at least.

I was really considering booking the Panama cruise in the Spring until I saw the price went up 1k over this year. It left a bad taste in my mouth especially since they are offering all kinds of discounts on the August cruise this year. Unfortunately I can't go in August, but I wasn't too impressed with the Oct price either, and they offered all kinds of discounts last year on the October Panama cruise. Sometimes I just don't get it.

We did the Panama Canal cruise in 2011 and prices were $1K more back then so the prices don't look to bad to me. I booked the Canadian in October and for another $1K I could do the Panama cruise and be on the ship another week.

The price was close enough to this year's price for the same time of year that we went ahead and bit the bullet. To make up most of the difference we moved our 5-day June double dip cruise stateroom to an inside instead of an oceanview.

I've actually found GT rates on a couple of the cruises to be inexplicably higher than just choosing a room in the same category, which I found comical.

I just dread the day that Disney goes back to "kids cruise free" rates. It will run us off very quickly to think that there will possibly be an overabundance of kids on board. Right now the ratio is typically just about right for us ( we are DINKs), with the 3 and 4-day Dream cruises being a little on the kid-heavy side for us.

I hear that! Though I wish gas was .95/litre in Vancouver a quick look at gas buddy (we are on vacation right now) says it's 1.15/litre. Grrrr. But sorry, I get what you are saying!

I was referring to the April cruise. Was that the first Panama crossing? Maybe that's why. Oct should be low. All Fall cruise should be low in price. It's the slowest time of year to travel. You can see from the pricing thread and the hold time that not many people booked. This is true for all cruise lines. People get all excited about DCL's Fall prices, but they are still double everybody else.

My first Disney cruise was this past October 2015, 5 day eastern Caribbean on the magic. Secret Porthole at about $2,500 for 2A2K. I thought it was a great deal and had purchased a year out. I'm now looking at the 7 day Mexican Riviera in Oct 2017 on the Wonder and for a secret porthole its $4,500 2A2K. I'm having a hard time justifying an extra $2,000 for two more days.
Anyone have any thoughts on whether this price is fair for a 7 day cruise? I don't have enough of the price history to judge, but from a cruise to cruise comparison it does seem awfully high.

I always consider price per day so Id have to say no. If it was something I really wanted to do maybe. The 10 day Batic cruise is 5k more than the 7 day cruise. I laugh every time I look at that. 2k is a lot for 2 exta days. You would think it would be closer to 1k.
