So, What Do You Think About Fall 2017 Prices?

I always consider price per day so Id have to say no. If it was something I really wanted to do maybe. The 10 day Batic cruise is 5k more than the 7 day cruise. I laugh every time I look at that. 2k is a lot for 2 exta days. You would think it would be closer to 1k.
Yes, exactly. That's the price increase I was expecting $1K or so. Thanks for the input.

Our cruises have been about $1000k per day (not night) so far. But we are a family of 5 and that bumps up the cost disproportionately. So that's approx. $200 pp/per day.

My first Disney cruise was this past October 2015, 5 day eastern Caribbean on the magic. Secret Porthole at about $2,500 for 2A2K. I thought it was a great deal and had purchased a year out. I'm now looking at the 7 day Mexican Riviera in Oct 2017 on the Wonder and for a secret porthole its $4,500 2A2K. I'm having a hard time justifying an extra $2,000 for two more days.
Anyone have any thoughts on whether this price is fair for a 7 day cruise? I don't have enough of the price history to judge, but from a cruise to cruise comparison it does seem awfully high.
There are so few Mexico cruises they can inflate the prices for us poor fools who live in the west. We booked the 10/1 and 10/5 B2B Baja cruises for about $5400 for 4 of us in the same category and I'm very happy with that price. It's way less than our 7 night Caribbeans on the Fantasy plus we can drive from AZ instead of needing to tack on air to FL. Now I get 2 cruises next year, once on the new Carnival Vista for an 8 night Southern Caribbean, (which is less expensive in 2 connecting rooms) and the B2B on the Wonder. I'm looking forward to 2017!

I thought the Mexican Riviera pricing was fair. Maybe DCL has conditioned me but I was expecting it to be higher.
I know when they sailed the Mexican Riviera a few years ago the cruises didn't sell. I think a lot of people were afraid to go to Mexico at the time. Last year the price went up fast, but in the end they offered a lot of discounts to fill the cruises. I think there's a reason the cruise lines put their best ships in Florida. The Caribbean is where people want to go. It will be interesting to see how popular they are. You would think Californians would book these up, but it never seems to be the case. A lot of schools have Fall break in October, but they put the short cruises in Oct and the long cruises in Sept. I thought that was kind of strange. I've been to all the ports they are just OK. Cabo is nice, but nothing spectacular.

I think everyone gets conditioned to DCL pricing on some level.

Which cruise. Ive never seen that before.i find this very hard to believe. Id like to see it for myself.[/e]

Honestly I don't remember, as this was one of those, "Check all the dates within these parameters and see which one fits what we're looking for" kind of searches. It would have been the fall, because that's when we cruise, but I can't remember at what point it was that way last year. I check prices on the DCL site on a pretty regular basis.

I follow the GT thread and look at every cruise. I've never seen this. There are probably 20 cruises or more that have GT rates this Summer. What would the purpose be to have restricted nonrefundable rates that are higher then the still partially refundable rates? There could have been a glitch, but that is not how GT rates are. They are always the first price listed, and always the lowest in that category.

I was on a b2b on NCL Escape when these released. Was able to shoot a quick message to my TA to throw a deposit on the Fantasy double dip for me then I'd decide when we got back. Hubby heard about the double dip & got excited. So I threw a deposit having no clue what the cost would be. We just debarked the Escape this morning and I was able to see the price. I must say, $9692 for a standard inside room (11C) on opening day for platinum is a bit revolting to me personally. Surprising? No. Do I think it's worth it? No flippin way. If it was my decision to make I'd ditch it in a heartbeat. The problem is I sail with friends on the Dream annually. So if I say to my family "Let's not do Disney because it's not worth it" they will say "Yeah, because you still sail them every year." Which is true. And I'm sure they miss it. Been a year since they were on a Disney ship, 3 years since my boys were on a bigger Disney ship. Now I'm thinking I should stop my annual trips, too. Practice what I preach and leave no arguments on the table. It's simply not worth it. Same week I can put DH & me in a mini-suite + each of my boys in their own solo studio on NCL Getaway (yes, THREE rooms with THREE bathrooms), all of us with adult beverage or soda packages and upcharge dining packages for about $1500 less.

Then there's the thought of assigned dining rotations, limited alternative dining options, blah blah blah......

Dang my mom guilt. Mom guilt stinks! Now to start my scheming......

I think the only reason I would do the Fantasy double dip is because it's over Christmas. I absolutely love DL at Christmas time and try to go every year when possible even if it's only for a day. My problem is 12/22 - 1/3 are the busiest days of the year in my restaurant and I can never take time off then. But I guarantee the year we finally sell the restaurant you will see my happy butt on the Fantasy for Christmas!!!

That is quite the decision you have to make though, a mini-suite and 2 solo cabins for less than 1 inside, man that would be hard to justify going on the Fantasy for that, I don't know if I could. Both of my kids are still in high school so I couldn't do that yet but I really like that idea when they get older, although with 1 being a girl I don't know if I'd do it or not. How was the Escape? We board CCL Vista next week for our first non DCL cruise.

Is that for a five day cruise?

On a very off topic note, I really want to visit your restaurant if I'm ever in the area. As a kid I *loved* Pipe Organ Pizza in Houston.

7-night. Same length. I'm pretty sure. Stops are Roatan, Harvest Cay, and Cozumel if memory serves. Harvest Cay looks like it's gonna be really cool.
I meant the double dip for over 9k. I'm assuming that's a 5 day on the Dream. I would have no mom guilt to saying no to that.

Reading this... I just put together.... Organ Stop is your resturant? We LOVE that place! We live up near Kierland or we'd be there constantly!
That's the one! I started working here as a dishwasher when I was 16, and 30 years later I'm still here, but don't wash dishes as often as I used too!
