I am doing South Beach. I'm still in phase one which at this point is very similar to Atkins - no carbs.
So where do we go for dinner & what do I order?

I am on Atkins, and I can go almost anywhere and find good food for me. I usually have a salad and some sort of meat dish, as long as it isn't breaded. More and more restaurants have really good, hearty entree salads. The main thing with those is to pick a dressing that is NOT low fat - Bleu cheese is always good! Dessert? No! Bread - maybe one tiny bite AFTER it has cooled down - if I eat a bite of warm bread I'm done for!

The only type of restaurant I have trouble with is diners - around here almost everything is breaded and fried and the salads are wimpy little afterthoughts - more of a duty than a pleasure!

I usually order any main entree (steak, chicken, fish, pork chop) and ask for veggies instead of the potato. Get salad (with REAL dressing) instead of soup.

At a Mexican restaurant I order fajitas, and eat them with a fork, instead of on tortillas.

At a diner I'll order a double burger, minus the bun - and get a side salad instead of fries.

And, just a reminder, your diet is not "no" carbs - it's "low" carbs. You're just eating the healthy carbs that you get in veggies, eggs, and cheese, instead of empty carbs that you get in potatoes and breads. ::yes::

If you have a Ruby Tuesday's near you, they have a low-carb menu that's very easy to order from. Otherwise I find eating out pretty easy and everyone's so used to special requests now. We all sound like Sally from "When Harry Met Sally." When I go out to breakfast I order an omelette, no toast, no potatoes. For dinner, steak or chicken with no starch, no bread. It's a great treat to go out and still eat on plan.

I've found eating out pretty easy
ruby tuesday's has burgers on low carb wraps
don pablos has low carb fajitas and low carb margaritas
we eat at lone star steak house alot
steak with side of veggies and salad no bread
sometimes dh and I split veggies and 1 sweet potatoe for a treat
salads are fine everywhere and salmon or flounder are great to get out too

I have been looking for more ideas. Glad I read up on this thread. I haven't even thought about going to Don Pablos. I love their food

I go to Outback and order the steak with salad (hold the croutons) and steamed veggies. YUM!

Tonight is definitely steak night - on the grill here at home! I am craving it.
Sherree' & other Mexican fans - we went to our favorite restaurant last night. It is a family run Mexican restaurant. I ordered the taco salad with beef & asked for the sour cream on the side. Well, they brought a soup bowl full of sour cream - it grossed me out so I didn't touch the stuff at all. :) I used salsa as my dressing - they make their own & it is the highlight of the meal. I nibbled a bit at the shell my salad was served in but left most of it behind. I did have a few corn chips before dinner - but not my usual basket full. (They make them there also.) Half way thru the salad I was satisfied. I left 1/3 of it behind & didn't want anything else the rest of the evening - just water. ::yes::
