So what bothers you at WDW that may not bother anyone else???

When the first thing every wait person says to us at a table service restaurant is "are you on the Disney dining plan?" and somehow seems a little miffed/let down/surprised when we tell them that we are not. Why? Do they think we are idiots for not buying the plan? Or such Disney newbs so stupidly unprepared we didn't even know about it? Complete morons that obviously don't get that we could be saving money? Do they think we're going to take too long and not turn the table fast enough? Order too little/tip less? Order some things or have questions about menu items they aren't familiar with, or take a little extra effort? I kind of feel like they're now preparing for us to be the PITA table. I'm sensing a little attitude here, and seriously wonder WHY?

Really? I get the exact opposite feeling from servers, like they're relieved that we don't do the DDP.

As for my pet peeve...unfortunately for me, my biggest annoyance at Disney comes from my husband. He has some sort of anxiety about holding up the lines, so when the kids are meeting a character he becomes like a psycho drill sergeant if he thinks they're taking too much time--even if the character is leading the interaction (which they always are if we're with them a little longer than usual) . Belle put him in his place once at Characterpalooza. It was awesome.

We get a noticeable reaction from servers when we say we aren't on the dining plan too. It's funny though, because I always sensed the reaction was a sigh of relief that they weren't going to have to deal with any issues. This was during free dining though and I suspect it's due to the fact that they know they won't have to explain it, wait for indecisive guests trying to figure out the most bang for their buck. I never took it as an insult. I've even had a few CM's actually break into a smile when the answer was no.

I'm raising them to believe that they have a right to sit down if they are tired. If others would like to sit down, they can wait too. Nobody makes them get on if the bus is standing room only.

I hope you're kidding. If not, then consider:

I'm raising my kids to push to the front of every line if they don't wait. If others want to get there first, they should have gotten there sooner.

I'm raising my kids to take flash pictures in all the dark rides. If others want to experience the atmosphere of the attractions the way it was intended, they can ride again when we're not on it.

I put my kids, and my wife on my shoulders during parades and fireworks. If you want to see, you can find someplace where we aren't blocking your view.

I'm raising my kids to take the food from others tables. Why should we have to pay when others have bought the food for us?

Something that bothers me: People who "Command" the parks and don't take the time to enjoy their vacation. It is all business and keeping to a schedule. To me I want to slow down, soak up the environment and do some relaxing, even on a park.!

How does the way someone else experience the parks bother you?

For me, I can relax at home. I want to experience as much as possible, so I prefer to commando the parks. That is more enjoyable to me than slowing down.

at least the mom acknowledged that her kid ran into someone - kids are oblivious and won't learn that it's not good behavior to run into others unless their parents teach them this.

Thanks for mentioning this. I have 2 daughters. My 8 year old is super aware of those around her and I never had issues with her bumping into people and then saying sorry and/or excuse me. My 4/almost 5 year old, on the other hand, I don't know where she comes from sometimes. She was a runner when she was little. The fact that she now gets out of the car and will automatically reach for my hand is a major breakthough.

My biggest pet peeve is that people judge me for not being a good parent and being oblivious to my child who likes to dance and twirl and spin in the middle of the walk way. I do teach my children good behavior and my youngest is slower to learn then her older sister. So please don't judge and think all parents with rambunctious children are oblivious. Some are but there are also some that are not.

People just irritate me in general when they are oblivious to the world around them. Which is why my youngest drives me so crazy!!! :upsidedow:upsidedow

I try not to let much bother me, especially on vacation. But I don't really love when people judge people using scooters or not getting up on the bus. My mom looked totally healthy but had end strange cancer on our last two trips. She couldn't stand for long or walk far let alone stand on a bus. I always get up when I see someone who can benefit from my seat, but I don't judge those who stay sitting.

Thank you for saying that. I've been that person -- right now I'm blessed with better health, but there was a time I could not leave the house without assistance. You couldn't tell, though, looking at me, and the anger and judgement that I got, both silent and right out loud at times, was hurtful. (Not at WDW. But other places.) Believe me when I say that some of those people you see in the scooter or sitting down would give ANYTHING to be able to walk, or stand, if they could.

Sorry to be too serious -- this is a great thread, and of course there are people who trespass both ways, but this was worth repeating.

Happy to hear your doing better And hope it continues for a long time.

Great question!
..... File under pet peeve that genuinely bothers me, but that I know most people don't agree with: I hate when people sit down at a table before they have their food. I know, I know...my kids can't stand in line, one of us orders for everyone, I'm tired, blah blah blah. I get it. There are benches everywhere. Let the group go sit down there and meet you after you gather their food, and THEN go sit down at a table. If everybody just sat down when they had their food, nobody would have to be trolling for tables with a loaded tray.

PHEW...fun to get that out of my system! Thanks, OP!
This one used to be a pet peeve..... until they REMOVED all the benches at MK!!! UGH! :( Now.... I'm the one sitting there with no intention of even eating!!! Simply because there are so limited comfortable places to sit anymore!

This has been a very enlightening thread for someone going on their first trip to WDW this coming September! :rotfl:

Lots of super valid points about crowds/walking/groups/stopping suddenly. This is how NYC-ers feel about tourists in Manhattan. :cool1: I feel prepared.

Green Bay Packers fans.

This just made me think of a totally irrational annoyance I had at Disney once. It was at H&V last August and there was a family/party of 10 sitting at a table close to us and everyone was totally decked out in KU gear. I was soooo annoyed by them and their stupid Jayhawks stuff. I don't know why! It isn't like I hate the Jayhawks any more than the next Iowa State grad. ;)

After this past trip, it's the selfie-sticks for me. There were people holding them up in the sky during Celebrate the Magic, so that anyone behind them could see their phones recording the whole thing. I say don't just ban them from rides, but from the grounds entirely!
