So what are YOU going to do with your $76?

I'm wondering what Joe thinks should be done with all of the revenue brought in by those that earn more than $150,000. Should it be given to the the guy making less than $40,000?

I would like to comment on Joe's statement also.

This year our gross income is "almost" $100,000. We are FAR from wealthy. And just for the record, my husband doesn't have a cush job sitting in an office 9 to 5 making that money, he works THREE jobs to give us what we have. He is a firefighter/paramedic for two different cities and he works at a hospital in telemetry. My husband works his *** off, so I take offense with your statements. My husband has EARNED what we have.

And as far as our "Infiniti"...PLEASE. I drive a 5 year old Dodge Caravan and my husband drives a 2 year old Toyota Camry. The only reason he even has the newer Camry is because our 1992 Toyota Corolla was flooded during the bad floods in Houston a couple of summers ago, otherwise, he would still be driving that.
And our home......while a nice home, our neighborhood is the "poor people" neighborhood. We have big beautiful new homes all around us, so our 15 year old 2000 square foot house is NOTHING for our area. For vacations....we only take them every two years (to Disneyworld of course;)) and stay at the All-Stars.

So please, don't assume that a person who has on paper $100,000 a year is living the high life. After medical, dental(we too have the cheapest plan offered through my husbands job) and all the other stuff that is taken out, we actually only see about $55,000 to $60,000 a year (which is far from rich for a family of 5). And out of all the "stuff" that is taken out, only $540 a year is for investments/savings.

I do realize we are very blessed to have a roof over our head, food in our stomaches, and cloths on our backs.. and I can name several other things, so believe me, I'm not griping about our situation. But I don't agree we should have to pay more than we already do to the goverment. Nothing has ever been given to us, and when we started out 13 years ago we only made $16,000 a year, so I KNOW what poor is. But like I said, my husband has worked HARD for what we have and we deserve every penny.

Bravo mommyto3...you might be interested to know that according to the LA Times you are part of "the royalty class" - diamond studded tiaras and all!

that's funny my news sad a family of four I forget making exactly how much 50,000 - 60,000 range I think would get a tax savings of $1100
while the democratic savings is $600 per family one time I believe

I am personally grateful for any tax break at this point

You're right, luvs2nascar - this thread was started regarding the dividend tax cut, which constitutes less than half of the total tax cut plan.

But anything to take a bite out of the "rich"!!

Disnee Dad Says.................................Everyone make sure to read the post by Bob NC, before you post. That has got to be the best post about economics I have ever seen. Simple, truthful and very telling.
BTW. akasleeping beauty and mommyto3. Don't you see that your Dh's are evil? How dare they work hard and get paid for it? They should sit on their butts at home and drink beer and watch TV all day, then you guys could pay less taxes and not need a tax cut! Don't you guys realize you make twice what a $50,000 family makes? But pay five times as much tax! Oh wait. lol

It seems that many people are so focused on the dividend tax cuts, they haven't even noticed the other cuts - marriage penalty, child tax credit, increased amount taxable at lowest rate. Taken together, these add up.

If all of these cuts are enacted, we'll be looking at about $1500 in tax cuts for this tax year - the amount will vary based on our stocks do this year, but you get the picture.

I wouldn't toss $1500 in the trash, would you?

edited to add: And I'm not in the "royal class" - we make far less than $100,000 per year.

I would gladly give the government my $76 bucks back to pay off the deficit.

I'm pretty sure you can do that - I could be wrong, but I'm thinking that there is a form or a check off for application of refunds to deficit reduction.

As AirForceRocks indicated, you can indeed donate your $76 back to the Federal Government. In fact, you can donate more if you so desire. As for me, I feel that I am a better judge of how to spend my money than Uncle Sam is. I have no problem keeping more of our hard earned money. Those in government need to develop the same philosophy that families have had to for years; get by on what you have. You don't knock on your neighbor's door demanding more money because they have more and it isn't fair? Why demand that of tax payers who already pay "their fair share" and several other people's fair shair at the same time?
Perhaps if more Americans PAID taxes they too would be for tax relief.
