So, what are the busy DVC times?

DH and I are still looking at buying (holding out a few more weeks to find out about BLT) and want to immediately bank & borrow points for 2 extended vacations - 3 rooms the 2nd week of March and 4 rooms the 1st week of June. If we don't buy until July, are we going to be sunk getting rooms at those times? We are wanting BCV, BWV, BLT (if actually built by then) or possibly AKV. Might even consider VWL. I'm reading reports of avoiding the busy seasons, but I don't know when the busy DVC seasons are since they don't necessarily coincide with the busy WDW seasons.

The easier question would be, "What are not the busy times?":rotfl:

That answer would be: SEPTEMBER unless you want to stay at BCV or AKV Concierge;)

With DVC, the lower the points, the higher the demand is pretty much true except for September.

If you are flexible on where you stay, you will have improved chances of booking at the larger resorts within the 7 month window.

2nd week of March is Spring Break territory and June will be summer. Both peak seasons.

December, October/November are busy DVC times - as well as holidays. Value seasons are usually popular because it's low points.

We've had no problems June/July/August at 7 months. But with summer, you don't want to wait until April to try to get reservations in June or July - you do need to plan 6 about months ahead.

Just want to add that even if Contemporary points go on sale this summer, owners won't be able to use them until the building is open which looks to be Fall 2009 at the earliest.

DVC may end up throwing in some Developer's Points for early buyers to use immediately, but I don't see any way you would be able to use BLT points for vacations in March and June 2009.

This was one of my concerns and something we were going to look at when the announcement comes out. Hoping they will include developer points that we'll be able to use! We're also considering buying resale elsewhere if the BLT announcement isn't right for us.

So, looks like my June vacation will be a possibility but my March vacation will be a low chance of getting any of the places I want -- right? If that's correct all I can say is ........ bummer.

Also, it looks like the general opinion is that low-point times are busy for the value and high-point times are busy for the season. I'm starting to get concerned about this as one of the things I really like to do is stay at different places. I don't want to go to the same resort year after year because that's all that's available. And, I am a planner - usually 6-12 months in advance - as you can tell from me trying to plan trips 8 & 12 months out from now.
