DD has been campaigning for another trip since the second we left the world in August...
and who can blame her....i was more than ready to turn right around and claim there had been some mistake....we were supposed to stay for another 2 weeks (at the very least)..

but as we all know, it's EXPENSIVE to go to disney world!!
and now that our family has happily expanded with the kids' spouses and soon to be wee ones, the expense of going to the happiest place on earth is increasing for us exponentially...

so basically, i've been ignoring DD's daily questions about when can we all go back again....

until we saw this article and video from D23 japan....
http://www.ibtimes.com/inside-disne...ning-animal-kingdom-2017-photos-video-1425560

so we've decided.....2017 it is...

let the saving (and planning) begin !! :)

I take it you are quite enthusiastic about Avatarland then ? ;)

The artists' renditions are absolutely beautiful. I can't say the actual theme appeals to me in the least but it may make for a good day with a camera

Are you taking the whole extended family? It will be like a Grand Gathering!! :)

we had to start planning something...
it's too depressing to not be planning anything...
so this seemed like an adequate excuse...something to aim for,...

i enjoyed the video mainly because it featured Joe Rohde...

we met him a number of years ago....he was our guide on the sunrise safari...

for some reason, there were too many people signed up...so they broke the group in two and he took our group on the safari...
we had no clue who he was, other than he was wildly enthusiastic about AK..

later, the concierge asked if we'd enjoyed the tour...
we said yes, but especially our guide....the guy with the feather in one ear...

her eyes literally popped out of her head....
"Joe Rohde???????? you had Joe Rohde as your sunrise safari tour guide?????"

we just looked at her....
we had no clue who "joe rohde" was...

and that flipped her out even more

"you had Joe Rohde as your guide and you don't even know who he is??????"

it was funny...

subsequently we learned that he was the head of the imagineers who designed AK....the top dog....

so it was fun seeing him again in this video!!

Well next time you ask to come with us or meet up with as there, there is no messing about - we do it! I want to move in your circles :rotfl:

and i want to trick or treat with you at a halloween party - 3 full bags or candy?????? i could handle that...of course, it would only last me a day or two!! ;)

interestingly, DS doesn't remember that he was our guide..
DD does, but i guess DS was too young to remember...
he was surprised when i mentioned it....
he wishes we could meet him today!!
his big dream is to be an imagineer one day..

I actually can not wait for Pandora to be built!

I loved the film, my boys watch it over and over still and so was very excited when they announced Avatar land!

We are planning our future trips around the opening too but I'm worried if we plan for the 1st 6 months around opening ( when we get actual dates) that the place will be mobbed.

I think its a great fit since the film was all about the land and the fact it was a living breathing soul.

i'm happy for anything new to be built...
whatever it is..
though my kids are really excited about it being avatarland....

it does sound like it will be a good fit..

it seems that they're building two rides - a simulator of some kind and a log flume...

as well as beautiful overall theming...
that's what excites me..

i consider AK to already be the most beautiful of the 4 parks...
it sounds like this will be an enhancement to that...

Fantastic Plan!! we are going 2015 (not been since 2006, will be first trip with DD) - can't really wait any longer as we have waited this long. But I LOVE Avatar so good excuse to save all over again for a 2017...or maybe 2018 trip. I wonder if it will be a full opening in 2017 or if they will open a small section before that? either way its' exciting stuff and I love AK :goodvibes

wow, that's a long wait from 2006 to 2015!!!!!

i told everyone if they skip a few coffees a week, it would go a long way to paying for the trip!!! :)

Or tell them to drink coffee at work - that way you get to have your cake and eat it ;)

:)

i have to shut my computer down soon - i'm heading for the states - but alas, far far from mickey and friends....:sad1: (specifically detroit)

only consolation - lots of shopping till i drop :)

Another one here planning for 2017,DH DD big Avatar fans,me and DS not so much, but we we're not really Harry Potter fans but we still enjoyed that;)
We've yet to do 2014 trip but 2017 will be a three year break:scared1: but will be worth it as DD would have done her A levels and DS GCSEs or O levels or what ever its called then:confused3 So it will be worth the Three year hiatus .

i think we did a 4 year hiatus when DS was in the military....
so this will be the same.....but it just seems soooooooooooooooo long!!!!

We've also got an AVATAR LAND visit planned. Josh (our eldest) has worked out that PG he'll graduate uni in 2018 and he's decided that a trip to WDW with AVATAR LAND having been open for 12 months is the ideal graduation present :rolleyes1

I bet you don't disagree, though...:rotfl2:

OMG ok so I'm not the ONLY one!!! :rotfl2: We have a trip planned for Sept 2014 BUT I'm soooooo secretly planning a 2017 trip toooo :thumbsup2 I just haven't told ANYBODY at all yet about my thoughts and plans :rotfl: But I have to check out that new Avatar land!! I am picturing it to be so beautiful!! My husband and I both enjoyed the movie! My nephew wont be able to tag a long with us for our 2014 trip so I'm hoping he will be able to go in 2017!! But it will have to be sometime while school is out in Texas because that's where he lives and his mother will not allow him to miss school for anything! Maybe by 2017 he will be back with my brother in ohio where he belongs!!

But anywho!! I cant wait to start seeing REAL pictures of it coming along!!
