So upset! the Mosquito spray truck sprayed when kids were playing outside

we used to follow them on our bikes when we were young....in the dark no less....

it did not affect me none... :crazy2: :upsidedow

We played in the fog, too... lived out in the woods, in the middle of NO-where, where the mosquito truck coming through was a big deal!

I welcome the truck. My friend's son got sick with Equine encephalitis a couple of years ago. He was very close to death, but fought his way through it. It was really scary.

Add me to list of kids who loved running after the bug truck.

We did it every summer and they came through twice a week.
I also was watching a pest control guy spraying the crawl space under my house when i was 8 and got hit in the face and eyes with the stuff. I'm sure he was trying to get this pesky kid to go away.
Can you imagine what toxic chemicals they used back in the 60's!

I still have half a brain :bitelip: ::yes::

We have already had mosquitos with west nile virus found in our area this month:scared1:

We used to chase those trucks around the neighborhood when I was a kid. We thought it was really cool to run through the fog. She will probably be fine. It is probably less harmful now than it was then.

My DH did the same thing!! :faint:

We used to chase the bug man for blocks on our bikes riding in the "fog" the whole way every time he came around! Guess I am ok from it though, I have a daughter so I was able to reproduce LOL.
I wouldn't sweat a one time exposure....

Actually the best time to spray for mosquitoes is at dusk. Thats when they come out to feed.

That is the prime time for them...They spary late at night as not to have the fumes disrupting people....it really is not harmful to humans they way its sprayed unless the person is sucking on the tube its being sprayed from...

I wouldnt worry to much about it...

The good news your child will not be bitten for 2 weeks....:rotfl:

Hopefully, it is harmless like you all say. Thanks, makes me feel better.

Yes, for some reason, they spray at around 1 am at night. I can hear the truck.

They only came in the evening that one time but most of the time it is around midnight and 1 am.

I found out that it is us paying the company to spray thru our homeowner association fees. Its a good thing but do not come when kids are outside.

They spray is not really intended to kill active mosquitoes but to kill larvae in standing water...thats another reason for the late night spraying becuase like I said they are not really after the already flying mosquitoes....

However they could be trying something new that is intended for the hatched insects and help alleviate the problem...we also get the planes that fly over and spray too...of course I live in SC by a lake and a swamp so it gets bad here usually in August is the worst month....May, June and July is so dry they cant breed too well...August and Sept start the rain/storm and Hurricane peak for us....

I can see it all now, just like the part from the movie the fly. "Help me, Help me":rotfl2:
