My cousin posted this on facebook yesterday citing that there was so much done for Haiti and Katrina.
Because, BP is supposed to be paying for everything. At least they said that they will.
The others were disasters caused by nature. This is not. It was caused by a company.
I still wouldn't trust BP as far as I can throw them.

It will be interesting to see how that works out. BP has said that they will address all "legitimate" claims, so basically they haven't said anything. There is a cap on liability (of $10B). I wonder how generous the closer they get to that point.

Saints football team are going to raffle a Super Bowl ring to help with response. Thank you boys !!!

I just returned from Biloxi a few hours ago. Beach was fairly clear I believe , didn't venture onto as that was not what we had planned for the three days we were there. Local news is saying that there are a few tar balls here and there, but not near the issue that Louisiana , Alabama and Florida having . Thank goodness for at least they aren't having the problems others are having now, even though I am sure tourism is taking a hit. I imagine though it will come to them also eventually : (.

I read in an article somewhere that he offered assistance and was denied. He apparently has worked extensively with under water engineers and others who he felt could help with the situation.

BP is in a no-win situation, but an apology is at least a start in the right direction. i also feel the federal government shares blaim in this, they ok'd BP to drill at that depth without a plan to stop a leak.
I'm a 6th generation commercial fisherman, my family has worked in seafood and lived right here on the coast in Heron Bay, AL since my great, great, great grandfather arrived here from Norway. my dad, my brother, and i currently run a small oyster shop, crabshop, 2 shrimpboats, and a small oysterboat; we work together as a family (3 Men & A Boat). with all the waters being closed we are out of business, and if we are forced to find other jobs, this will break up our family, i'll no longer work with my dad and brother. the scariest part of this whole thing is not knowing the extent that it will effect us.

I don't remember if it was CNN but last night one of the news channel had a "Where's the celebrity help" type report and said James Cameron was helping by lending BP some kind of equipment he used during Titanic.

He's helping with the underwater ROV's and getting better photography of the situation to those who can do something with it. It's like Kevin Costner, on the hill today to see about a device he's invested in that can strain oil from water.

Whatever can work, they need to send it. NOW. Tony Hayward is supposed to testify tommorrow. A friend asked if we will get to see him actually sweat crude. Hmmmmm.

It isn't a matter of working up sympathy for BP, but rather just working up rational logic toward the situation. People should direct their available energy toward care, concern and advocacy for those adversely affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, instead of wasting such energy crafting new and innovative attacks on BP or its CEO. People living in the affected areas need to know we care about them -- they don't need us trying to exact revenge on their behalf.

This catastrophe in the Gulf is heart wrenching. For the loss of life for the men on the rig. To the oil washing up on shore, killing both birds and marine life.

BP still denies the facts today about oil plums, that science has determined is there. Chocking off the oxygen needed to sustain life,

It is unbelievable to me that BP was allowed to drill deep water in the Gulf, without the necessary equipment to cap this well, and clean up the mess. I have heard that the methods for cleaning up an oil spill have not improved in over 25 years. The shortcuts BP has used on this well, even on the day of the explosion should be criminal.

Our govt regulator's "cozy" relationship with the oil companies is also to be blamed. For years deregulation, and the laissez faire attitude, that the market should be left to operate has again proven in this past year to be hurting our country. Remember the financial collapse, and the bank bailouts. Are Tax payers going to be on the hook for this too? I'm sure BP's lawyers are hard at work.

Now all the people that have been screaming- Keep the govt out of industry, and let the market handle itself, are now angry that the govt is not doing enough to help.

Apparently, our govt. does not have the technology to help. We have left that great responsibility to BP, who is proving very inadequate at it.

That would make sense then. I've just been hearing stories about all of these people who feel they have something that would stop the oil, or soak it up, and they aren't allowed to do anything. What's stopping them from just going out and soaking it up on their own?

Its a little bit OT but I did see a gas station owner today on the news who said that his sales are down 30% because people are boycotting his gas station and other independently owned gas stations that sell BP gas. He stressed this doesn't hurt BP but hurts him, his family and his ability to make a living.

No, I think it is anti-therapeutic. It distracts people more and more from the important issues, and the mob mentality drives an ever-increasing amount of baseless waste; it feeds on itself causing more and more waste.
