So torn... two rooms at Pop or family suite at Art of Animation?

Nope. Both doubles, from the beginning.
I wasn't saying the sofa bed was a twin, I was saying it wasn't comfy. Also, I said I hadn't been there in years and I could be wrong about the size of the Murphy bed. In any case the Murphy bed at Pop is a QUEEN and thus larger than the Murphy bed at AoA.

All well and good, but any response in this or any thread is not just to one individual, it's also informative to other, urrent and former, readers of that thread/post.

No Murphy bed at WDW is or was twin size.

What size do they consider the ones they installed at the DVC resorts studios like BWV and Riviera? The ones under the tv. They looked like twins to me when I opened them, but I didn’t have anything to measure them with. They are for adults, not just children. I know they don’t apply in this case, but curious all the same.

As to other general comments in this thread, I thought the regular bed in the suite was a queen, and the Murphy was a double, and the sofa bed was a double. I didn’t unfold the sofa bed, but it couldn’t be a twin and have the occupancy be six people. Each bed has to accommodate two people. I remember giving up the bed and taking the Murphy when my sister and BIL joined me mid trip because the bedroom bed was larger and would hold two people better than the double Murphy in the dining room. As to which resort has the more comfortable beds, that depends entirely on each individual’s definition of comfortable. The beds at AoA are very firm, and the beds at Pop much softer. I prefer a soft but supportive bed, so I prefer Pop, but there are people who like a firm bed and would prefer AoA. The most comfortable Disney bed I ever slept in was at CR. I came close to giving up the parks and just sleeping through that trip.

The OP was looking for pros and cons of the rooms at the 2 resorts. I trust that people have the ability to visit MDE and view the size of the beds. Sorry for any confusion. As far as comfort, I was stating my opinion. Didn't know that wasn't allowed here anymore.
It played a big part in our decision as we have stayed at CR for several years in a row and yes the beds are very comfortable. But I was so happy with the beds at Pop that I actually went back 5 months later to stay there.
The OP and I both have teens that don't want to sleep together and a husband that snores. I didn't put that in my original post but thought I could be helpful. Please stop nitpicking.

Those beds under the TVs are twins.

I'm late to the party but I love Art of Animation and I have 4 kids! Love the food court! Love the pools! Pop is cool too

I stayed at Pop a year ago May. I loved it!! I had only ever stayed at Contemporary or GF prior. I was traveling alone and thought I should give it a try. The room had recently been redone and was pristine. I enjoyed sitting at the main pool and reading when I was not at the parks. The laundry facility is centrally located so I only took half the clothes and did laundry. The walk around Hourglass Lake a couple of times each morning was perfect. And now the gondolas are complete and running. I would stay at Pop in a heartbeat.

Do they call those Murphy beds? If so, I was wrong.

To be honest, I haven’t seen Disney refer to them as anything particular, although they did include them in the big Murphy fiasco at Riviera last December, but everyone else calls them single or twin Murphys. I just wasn’t sure if they were true twins.

I'm thinking OP has made their decision, but I would also vote for two rooms at Pop. Especially since its cheaper. Having two bathrooms in the morning is crucial for getting ready and getting out the door. Maybe not as much of a factor in the current environment with later park opening times, but its still nice to have two spaces for people to get ready in.

Not disputing this in any way, but any AoA (or ASMusic) suite has two bathrooms, too.
Oh thanks for clarifying! I was unaware. With that information, I would say having two separate spaces even for storage, as well as everyone having their own bed (not a sofa/chair bed), would still give Pop the edge for me.

My husband used to be a snorer...neither kid would want to share a bed with him and would wake up frequently to wake me up to complain about the snoring. But then he got his CPAP machine and it's like night and day. If it's somethin that would be covered by insurance I would highly suggest looking into it if you are dealing with a snorer.

He won’t even consider a CPAP machine, which is irritating but a whole other thing.

::yes:: not to mention (okay, fine, I'm mentioning) Pop is a better deal unless you absolutely need a microwave.

We thought about the microwave but we don’t think it’s that much of a plus. We’d only use it for cooking oatmeal for breakfast but there are plenty of other items we can eat in the room without the microwave.

I called this morning and switched to two rooms at Pop. My daughter and I watched some videos on the resort and updated rooms and she really likes those rooms. Since this trip coincides with her 18th birthday and graduation year we’re involving her heavily in the decision making. Now to decide which restaurant to celebrate her birthday!

I would go for the family suite at AoA. It is nice to have everyone together. I would recommend going on you tube and watching some room videos too.
