We have three, what I believe to be, Saw Palmettos in our backyard. As palms go, they are pretty small and look like this (not my photo).

More like a bush than a tree but left alone they'll get as tall as 12 feet, at least according to what I read online. The tallest of the three, before I went postal on it, was just over 6 feet.

You need a nearly perfect day to do this stuff. While it's a bit on the warm side right now, there was limited sun and a wonderful breeze.

I always hold my breath when I'm working with these bushes. They are a favorite hiding place for the various snakes I've seen around the house. Thankfully there were none hiding out in them today. The only wild creature I came across was a grasshopper on steroids. It was nearly 4 inches long! :scared1:

I told the husband, who loves the palms, if he wasn't happy with my handy work to just wait about a month. Then it will look like I never ever touched them. Things grow way too fast down here.

Any other Floridians, or anyone in a warmer climate, doing yard work today?

I'm glad I clicked on this thread--I was picturing something MUCH more painful! :scared: :scared1:

Will you be growing melon this year? ;)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Nah, melons are off my list.... at least as far as the DIS goes.

Ah, c'mon! I'm pretty sure you were mentioned on the nomination thread for your nice pictures. :woohoo: (ok, not THAT kind of picture...I didn't think to go there ;) )

I just came in for a lunch break!! :)

We're moving some plants and shrubs around in the yard and had to trim the chinese fan palm - not fun.

It is getting a little warm out there, so I might call it a day, LOL! :sunny:

no yard work for me, but it is GORGEOUS out! All my frangipani's are getting leaves, my orchids are blooming and everything just seems so green and lush! Hopefully soon we can start to get the fence up around our pool and start landscaping around the pool. We plan to put white birds and frangi's and tropicals around the pool area....:)

I thought maybe you had been soaking in the tub to long.....
