so tired of the shampoo spilling

These days the shampoo seems to come in bottles with flip lids. It never fails that the zip lock bag I carry it in ends up full of shampoo. What a mess.

I have been trying to find empty bottles with screw on lids to put the shampoo in, but can't find any. The travel section in my walmart only have flip lid containers so that won't help.

Put some plastic wrap around the top, and secure it with a rubber band. Just rinse off the plastic and save it for the trip home, in the ziploc bag.

Take the lid off and put a piece of plastic wrap over the opening. Put the lid back on. If the lid doesn't seal it well enough (and it should) you can add a rubber band to the plastic wrap. Anyway, plastic wrap UNDER the lid works for us. (I still put all items like that also in a ziplock back "just in case")

I always use my bottles at home, then when they have enough for the trip (and a little extra), I take packing tape & wrap it tightly all around the top & down the sides. Then, I still put them in plastic bags. It's lots of "fun" unwrapping the tape when we get there, but they never leak!

I also just throw out any little bit that's left instead of taking it home - I buy that stuff so cheaply on sale/coupons, that the little bit I waste is still less expensive than buying those travel sizes.

You might also try squeezing the bottle before you put the lid on, and never fill it completely full. By squeezing out some of the air before closing it you create a bit of expansion room for when the pressure on the aircraft causes the liquid to expand.

Did you check another store? Our Wal-mart has bottles for shower gel, etc. and also travel size shampoos. The bottles for shower gel are just screw tops- no flip-opens. I would keep looking if you have the time.

Also, I noticed that at our Wal-Mart travel-size stuff was on the same end of TWO aisles...so maybe check to see that you found it all.

I was going to suggest similiar. I put the ziploc bag under the lid, screw the lid on tight and then seal ziploc over rest of bottle to bottom. Then if it spills, it is still inside the bag but I have never had one spill like that yet.

I bought my little plastic bottles at Target a month ago. They had the screw top kind.
I also did the plastic wrap under the lid trick and between both I didn't have any problems.
I hope you find a solution soon because leaking bottles are definitely annoying.

Yup, Target! But mine from Target leaked too, I always put all my liquids in plastic baggies while traveling, even if we are driving. It helps keep things clean just in case.

We got the Owner's Locker and don't have to worry about stuff spilling anymore. It is already in WDW waiting for us.

I started using bar shampoo during all my travels and that works great. I have bought some at Basin (located at the GF & DTD) and I keep them in bags. You may want to check them out! :)

I also like the Lush products..

I also recommend the solid shampoos from Lush. They are great and my teenage boys don't waste as much either.

ETA: I forgot to say that they have solid conditioner too. And I just looked at the website and they have a store at the Orlando airport

I find if I unscrew the tops put on plastic wrap over the top than put the top back on, put a piece of tape over the top, and then put the whole thing in a zip lock bag - a bit of a pain but they never open or leak on me.

Do what I do and buy my shampoo and conditioner when I arrive at my destination. I then just leave it when I check out. It costs only $1 or so for a bottle so I am not out much and I am relieved to know nothing gets wrecked from a bottle accidentally opening during travel.

We use water bottles. The screw tops work great. I just try to estimate what I think we will use and only take that much. I just toss out the bottle before we leave. I do like the wrap idea under the lid also. I may try that next time.
