I had never ordered from Children's Place online before - but they were having a good sale, I had a coupon, and DD needed some school clothes. I ordered 5 pairs of shorts and 11 shirts for $103 shipped - I was so excited that I had the majority of clothes shopping done! I got the "order fulfillment" email confirming that my payment had been authorized on Saturday morning (about a half-hour after I placed my order). Then, Tuesday night, I get an email that my order was cancelled. :confused3 No explanation, nothing - just "your order was cancelled, you'll get a refund".

I responded to the email (which it said to do if I had questions) inquiring as to why, only to get an automated response that I should go to the website and use the "Contact Us" feature if I had questions. I've tried to call 4 times and each time there were AT LEAST 23 callers ahead of me (today at lunchtime there were 60!). I guess maybe this happened to a lot of people. I'm just frustrated because I was even IN a Children's Place store over the weekend and didn't buy anything because I had already ordered everything I wanted. :headache:

I'm also really disappointed in the lack of customer service and explanation - I know that glitches sometimes happen and they can't make my order materialize out of nowhere - I just wish I knew WHY it was cancelled. I have a hard time believing that EVERY ONE of the 18 items I ordered was out of stock! Oh well, not much I can do about it now except go to the Gymboree Outlet in KC next weekend to do some clothes shopping instead. :thumbsup2

And let them know that's what you'll do if they don't rectify the situation.

Our Children's Place has absolutely horrid customer service. I've had lots of other moms bring it up, so I know I'm not the only one. Their clothes aren't grade A quality, but those are DS's "get dirty duds," so I suck it up and head in there during the Monster Sales.

Oh boy! Here's hoping I don't suffer the same fate....I ordered a bunch for next year, too....crossing my fingers!

Hi-
I have shopped at Children's Place for 6 years now at least 1x a month. I have always gotten good quality and never had bad service. I am sorry you had this situation happen, you should try and call again. Maybe they had site issues etc... that caused the problem since it sounds like they must have had a lot of problems.

I don't always shop at Childrens Place, but I have never had a problem the times I do. My DD loves their pants and they fit great, not too mention they are cheap as dirt if you go at the right time! :thumbsup2 I would give them another chance. You never know, maybe they will give you a discount or something for waiting so long about your complaint. :confused3

I placed my first and last on-line order this past winter. After my order had gone through, I received a seperate e-mail stating that most of the items were no longer available. I think my original order of $100 dropped to $30. I was really ticked about this because some of the items I picked to match with another item. Now I have the odd shirt or pair of pants that I have to find matches for, and they don't always carry the same colors year to year. I continue to shop in-store, but will not order on-line from them again.

I don't have a problem with quality - I wouldn't spend ANY money there if I was unhappy with that. And I've typically been happy buying things in-store. I'm not swearing off the company forever - but I won't ever buy from them online again.

As for calling back, I guess I'll just never know what happened to cause my order to go *poof*. I've already spent over an hour on hold (total) and I'm definitely not waiting through 60 or more callers just to give some poor customer service rep a piece of my mind when they didn't really do anything wrong personally.

Maybe I'll just write an email instead...

On the upside, my sister ordered some shorts for my nephew and they have (supposedly) been shipped, so at least some items are still in stock!

I have also had horrible customer service when ordering online. I did send an email about what happened and the horrible customer service but I also sent a fax to the company president. Within 24 hours I had a phone call from customer service apologizing along with a gift card and in store coupons.

I had another kind of situation with their "customer service" I was shopping in store with my 2 year old son...when he had to "go potty"..I asked to use the restroom and was flat out told NO...now I know there are rules but come on it's a childrens store for crying out loud and my arms were full of clothing that I was purchasing(I didn't just walk off the street,I was going to make a large purchase in their store) Well I was told the Gap had one go ask them...so thats what I did and lets just say their loss and the Gaps gain and I haven't stepped foot in that store in over a year!!!

I never make clothing purchases online simply because if I'm buying things to mix/match and they're out of certain items, I'm stuck.

I would definitely give them another chance. They must have been having technical issues if there were 23-60 people ahead of you on the CS phone line.

I love the Children's Place --- my daughter loves it, too, but now she's more into Jusice. About CP, I love the fact that I can walk in there iwth a coupon and walk out with a huge bag of clothing/accessories for less than $100 (usually $60).

Wow, how bizarre!!

I order from them online all the time, and have never had any sort of a problem.

I'm so sorry this happened to you!

Two stores in my area allow use of the restroom for children. They have to take you back through the stock room.

At Gap they have a nice one in between Gap Kids and Baby Gap....but my budget just doesn't permit buying there much.

I've had great success with online and in store shopping at every TCP I've been to. I'm sorry OP had such a hard time.

Little tidbit....I asked about more stock on something that was part of the Monster Sale. They didn't have it, but I was directed to try online. She then went up to the register and gave me a card with a code for free shipping.

My kids all wear slim sizes and they rarely have them in store. I'll remember to go in and ask for a shipping card when I need to buy pants.

The EXACT same thing happened to me, no reason given for cancellation, and when I tried to call, like you it was a long wait. Maybe there was a glitch that day. I don't know, I just gave up.

I used to work at Gymboree. They won't let you use the restroom due to a liability issue. If you get hurt in the back, it's there fault. We used to use our restroom as storage of bins, hangers, ect. Also, it's a shrink issue. Letting you in the stock room means that someone has to stay with you at all times to make sure there is no theft. (Not saying you would personally!) One less person on the floor means more chances for theft on the floor. Sometimes we would only have one person, usually the manager, in the store. They can't stay in the back with no one watching the store. I understand the complaint and inconvenience, but for us that became policy.

I am sorry you guys had such bad luck. I must have ordered at the right time (about 2 weeks ago). I got everything I ordered within a week.

I did have some trouble on the website, though. It kept telling me they were out of stock of everything. It seems like I had to select items through the regular page, and not the sale page.

I wonder what happened.

I ordered a bunch of stuff on Wednesday morning and got a bit worried after reading this!

But, I just got a shipping notice for it!

Sorry yours got cancelled. It does sound like there was some kind of glitch though???

I think there maybe something wrong. It seems to me your whole order wouldn't be cancled. I have had good luck with the quailty and price. So yes we shop there alot.

It's probably not just 'a rule'; there's probably a liability issue. The restroom is most likely accessible only through the stockroom or something - somewhere customers simply aren't allowed, for safety.
