So this is what mid-life crisis feels like? Dec 2011 PTR

Happy birthday to Eddie! Today is Chris's birthday too, remember? We are so lucky to be spending it at the airport - ugh. More on that in my PTR later.

So sorry to hear about your friend's lost fight. I will send positive thoughts and prayers for comfort for his family and friends.

A little something for Eddie...

I am so sorry about your friend...prayers for peace and comfort!

Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Cancer is so devastating. :(

Happy birthday, Eddie! Eddie is my dad's name. I've come to believe that eddies are awesome kinds of people. :lmao:

Look at your TICKER!!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Thank you for thinking of my friends and their loss of their husband, father, brother, son and friend. It's just sad even though I know he's not feeling what he had been any longer.

Okay - Eddie's birthday... we finally squeezed in dinner tonight after football game so hopefully, I can cook him dinner at home tomorrow night. The football games... Eddie's last night was just not good. :rolleyes1 There's just no other way to put it. And I hate it for the players - they truly try but they are an inexperienced squad following a talented bunch that graduated and didn't get a lot of friday night playing time when the other boys were around. It's definitely the nature of the beast. :confused3

Nate's game was cancelled - too much rain on the field so that will be made up next weekend. Nolan played more south and it was a great game! They won 38 - 0 and I'm going to go ahead and tell you all that "my son" scored 4 touchdowns, and the extra point conversions for a total of 24 of those points. And then I must say, he is able to do that because he has 10 other teammates on the field clearing the path for him to get to the endzone. :goodvibes And he made some crazy tackles on defense - I think the boy has got it figured out. :thumbsup2

Anyway - happy to be home and relaxing on the couch while Eddie watches the Oklahoma v Florida St game. (we are currently winning...:cool1:)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!:grouphug:

It's tough when you lose a lot of kids to graduation to start over again. I hope it gets better as they all get a littl emor eperience.

Hooray for Nolan's team and being a scoring machine! Have a good weekend.

Thank you Kathy! :goodvibes I hope you are having fun with your family in Dubuque (I'm sure I butchered the spelling) with your son!

SO today I was browsing on the disney online store to see if any new Christmas 'stuff' was out and I think they have new ornaments! Either they are new or I've missed finding them the past umpteen months, which seriously, is always a possibility. :rotfl:

I found three that I just loved and had a thought  I decided to purchase one for each of the kids, wrap them up, hide them, and let them open them on the morning of our departure. I also think I'm going to make them t-shirts (on my own) for our departure day to 'tell them' where we are going for a Christmas Vacay. :thumbsup2 This would be the simple reveal. I will post pics of the ornaments when they arrive but quick description... Erin's is a purple Mickey Head with bling glass slippers all over it - it's pretty. Haven't decided which of the boys will get which one - they won't care either way - but one is a football with Mickey ears and one is a baseball Mickey head. They would love either. :)

The other alternative I've come up with would be to pack early, take our luggage to a friend I work with a day early who is willing to meet us at the airport, with our luggage and a camcorder, and let us easily reveal it to the kids at the airport. I'm less organized for this one... but I still think I could get our other friend to dress up as Santa and another friend to wear her Minnie costume and meet us there as well... I don't know... it's going to be super early in the morning... the ornament gift and t-shirts seem much simpler.

Thoughts?

I like the ornament and t-shirt idea only because it would be nice and simple.

Course, how cool would it be to do the reveal at the airport??

I am sure what ever you choose, your kids are gonna love it. Personally, I am just excited to see those ornaments ;)

I think I'm leaning heavily towards the t-shirt and ornament... I tend to stress about 'stuff' from time to time... :lmao: and I think I would feel compelled to be calling those friends to make sure they are up, etc. How awful to get to the airport to "no friend with luggage..." :rotfl:

Ahhhhhhh.... completely forgot to include in my update that I went ahead and pre-purchased the photopass cd today. So glad I did this. Past years, we never got our photopass pics... booo I know... just kept what we captured on our own cameras and videos. And yep... very few with the whole family present. So I'm going to make it a priority to have our pictures made often! :thumbsup2

Very nice!! I bought our pp cd last year... it was nice to get all those pics. Ya just have to make sure to take advantage of all the pp opportunities. :thumbsup2

So love thinking of our reveals. I love the idea of a friend meeting you at the airport and the Minnie idea with Santa...sounds too cool! Remind me, what day are you leaving again? How will you get to the airport without raising eyebrows?

Yep, no excuses not to have the whole family in a picture...that is why I am trying to get a few pounds off before than!

I'm going to make sure we do take advantage!! It's funny because I used to 'that person' that avoided the photographers, now I will be seeking them out! :rotfl:

After the summer we have had...isn't that a great thing to be able to say!:woohoo:

Yes! It was nice to not have to run around like mad and only have one ballgame to attend! :goodvibes

We leave early morning on the 16th. As far as getting them to the airport without them asking too many questions... we thought about telling the kids we were going to visit their aunt who lives in that direction... and then deal with the questions when we exited towards the airport.

ME TOO! :goodvibes

Question - since Eddie is not on our resort package, I'm going to have to get his park tickets separate. What's your recommendation? Waiting and letting the Polynesian staff handle for us? Or buy online through WDW? Or use an outside vendor (legitimate one) for his tickets? I've researched and the price difference of using outside vendor is $5-$15 less. :confused3

I am getting mine from Undercover Tourist using the Mousesavers discount. For us saving about $15 a ticket adds up to almost $100. I also like that I can wait until December to purchase them, helping my budget some. I can also add them onto the Keys to the Kingdom card once we officially check into BWV. We need the tickets a day before checking in...for F! and DHS.

I think undercover tourist the least expensive I found as well. I just want to make sure they are 'valid ticket vendors.' It'd be my luck to buy from someone who wasn't. So I'm glad to hear confirmation that one is legit. :thumbsup2

I love having that CD...but I really wish it would come down in price.

I'll try to check in while I'm gone. Talk soon, friend.
