So, the truth: How bad is A&E?

I know, I know, there are a million threads like this, the lines are 5 hours long, if I don't have FP+ then forget it, stampedes, blah, blah, blah! But, who has done it? How bad was it? Is it doable at RD on an EMH day? What's the real scoop?

And, before you all "bash" me (and I mean that in the nicest way), I am a HUGE planner. Huge! We leave in 5 days, and I did all of my FP+ at exactly the 60 day mark and all that! BUT, and I realize it's a big but, my kids had never even seen Frozen 60 days ago. We *gasp* never got to see it in the theater because we had a baby when it came out. I have 7 and 5 year old BOYS, a newly 2 year old girl, and a 4 month old boy. Not exactly the princess market, and i didn't even try to secure a FP+. Well, wouldn't you know, Frozen fever has struck our house too! The boys love it and want to talk to Anna and Elsa, and DD is smitten! There is no conversation to be had in this house that does not involve the fact that Frozen is her very favorite movie. Even if we are talking about putting her shoes on. Even if we are naming our new chicks (as in chickens that hatched this week...who are now, incidentally named Anna and Elsa). Even if she had never watched a movie in her life before this. They are all obsessed!

So, we are NOT waiting in 5 hour lines type of people! If they were still in Norway, we would walk by, wave, and call it good. But they are in FTPH, so we can't do that. We are early risers and always make RD anyway, especially if there are EMH. I don't mind "running" to the line, but I'm not stampeding anyone, and I'm not doing that just to find an hours long line once I get there. So, again, what's the real scoop? If DH runs at RD on an EMH day, what are we looking at for lines? I've told the kids we likely aren't going to get to see them, but if it's somewhat reasonable, I really am willing to give it a try.

Your family can wave at Anna & Elsa in the parade - they are on the first float. Here is a picture of the line... Screenshot from a video:

Perfect! Glad to know that they are in the parade! Definitely an option!

I did see that photo of the line, but I'm assuming that probably wasn't from 8:00am? Maybe it was, I'm not sure! Still wondering if anyone has done it immediately after running to the line and how long they waited. I don't mind doing the work of being at the front at RD on an EMH day and sending DH to run. I just don't want to do all of that if the line is still going to be hours long when we get there.

For what it's worth, I just checked MDE and was able to get a FP for A&E for Tuesday the 29th. (I canceled it since I won't actually be in the park...just wanted to see what was available) So, I don't know if that eases your mind, but I just thought I'd toss in my two cents

Somebody's got to be 1st - could be you! Maybe if you're at the gate by 6:30 or 6:45, you could be in the front of the pack to go in. I've not done it - just figuring based on what people on here are saying. I would never wait in a 5 hour line either!

I've tried several times a day for every day of our trip and have not been able to, but I will keep trying too. It does make me hopeful that something will become available before we get there. We leave on the 30th and are there until May 9th. I have been trying to just get one and copy it, but so far no luck! Like I said, makes me hopeful though!

My wife was in line this morning 50 minutes prior to rope drop. Was at the rope....and got literally stampeded by hundreds of people running over her and my son....the result for their early arrival? 2+ hours back in line....absurd....

They have to rework this. They have to open up more Fast Pass + for this. It gets shut out to quickly....Quick solution, just give everyone in line a number and a time to come back. This is painful to watch and it creates bad feelings for Disney....

Forgive me if this was suggested, but have you tried getting fp with 1-2 in your party, and the overlapping. If you break up the group it may increase your chances.

Are you trying via the app or computer? I think using the computer and searching for one and then copying may work for you.

The real scoop is exactly what you've been reading in the millions of threads, people aren't making stuff up there ;).

Rope drop on an EMH day is going to be your best bet without a FP. If you're dead set on seeing them, try that. If the wait is still too crazy for you then, hey, you're in the MK at 8 AM and can walk on almost everything else for at least an hour. What's there to lose (besides some sleep)?

As of now, the earliest date you can book a FP+ for A&E is May 12th....

That's ridiculous....just move the lines faster....there's clearly a problem here.

This is exactly what I've been wondering about so I was glad to see the OP's question b/c I'd seen info about the "posted" lines and I'd seen good reports of people who had FP+ (saying they were right in and out) but I hadn't heard about the RD folks who made a point to go straight there. It sounds like it's still crazy. That is so sad about the trampling and then the 2+hour wait. But I do hope your son had a nice visit with them and was happy to meet them! :flower3:

I don't know how others feel, but if I just waited 5 hours, you better not give me the bum's rush once I finally get there.

Yes, I know the lines are long. That's what I'm saying. I don't want to know how long the line is at the busiest part of the day. I want to know what it's going to be after running at 8am. I've read all of the other threads.
