So on Sunday we leave for WDW and it is my first trip ever( and my 24th birthday) I have spent the last 3 months planning and researching and doing ADRs and just been over the moon since my MIL booked the trip.

Unfortunately after a shotgun wedding in Las Vegas for my SIL, I have food poisoning. And not only that but food poisoning while PREGNANT. So I am miserable. It is Day 3 of being miserable and not being able to eat anything but apples and Creamies. I am trying to do everything in my power to get better as soon as I can.

Unfortunately... I have looked at all of dining options and FP+ and all of it just makes me ill. I spent hours trying to get BOG reservations only to look at the menu and go green in the face. Same goes with Ohana, CP, etc.

So I need help. What would you do? I can't cancel the trip and not going isnt an option either. What would you see? What were your plans when/if you went pregnant?

(Sorry if this is just...down. I'm really really upset and it feels like the vacation of my dreams is going down the toilet, literally. I just need a place to vent where I knew people would understand my disappointment)

Hopefully you will be better by Sunday! You could always place an order with one of the grocery delivery companies and have them delivered to your resort. This will at least give you some food that you know you can eat and to make you feel better.

The biggest favor you can do for yourself right now, is to stop looking at the menus. Your ADRs are set, so no need to worry about that. Thinking about it will just make you sick (physically and emotionally).

It sounds like you are totally prepared for this vacation, so take a breath, focus on getting better, and know that you have a Disney trip waiting for you!

I would honestly just ignore anything to do with the trip until it's time to leave and get to Disney. You should be feeling better by the time you leave, and even if you're feeling weak and not at 100% there's no harm in calling a couple days in advance to cancel some of your ADRs once you're there or taking it really slow at the parks and making sure to take lots of downtime at the resort. You'll still have a great vacation, even if you don't do all of the things you originally planned!

I hope you start feeling better ASAP :)

I've never been pregnant but I know stomach flu/food poisoning.
My husband is in med school and I double checked with him to make sure these are okay for baby too. But please use your own judgement and listen to doctor instructions :)

Cucumber Water - liquid but gets you used to other food
Chamomile tea - natural relaxant
Ginger (tea or juice would be best) - natural anti nausea

These are for after the food poisoning, even though it will be out of your system by Sunday, I know the after is still icky.

I hope it helps. Remember, your state of mind also affects your health :flower3:

I would skip the ride Dinosaur, Mission Space, Tower of Terror and the coasters (may not be a complete list). This still leaves plenty of rides and shows.

Drink water before getting on the plane and on the plane ride. It will still be magical.

Are you sure it's food poisoning after 3 days? I flew last summer and what I thought was food poisoning just wasn't going away, turned out to be a Norovirus. I suffered about a week before going to the doctor (bad idea) and he said it was a Norovirus and should be about over... ended up being 10 days. Not saying that you have it but I swear I got it when I had to change planes at JFK, it was nasty.

Going pregnant is totally fine! I went last year pregnant and just skipped the any ride it said not to ride pregnant and took it easy. I had a blast!

By Sunday you should be over the food poisoning. If your still not feeling well go to a doctor to be safe.

Enjoy your trip!

She really shouldn't do these while pregnant anyway. Just relax. You should be better by Sunday. I do know how you feel. I wasn't pregnant but came down with a stomach flu the day before our last Disney trip. The first few days of that trip were awful for me. I could't eat anything. The plane ride was especially bad. However, you have many more days to recover than I did. If you don't feel better by tomorrow, I would go to the doctor just in case.

A few years back, I woke up on the morning we were supposed to leave for WDW with some type of stomach virus. We still went (couldn't cancel at that point) and I ended up sleeping a lot in the afternoons the first few days, which was fine. I was a bit stressed from work anyway and needed some rest. Midway through the trip, I was eating a No Way Jose sundae, visiting the EP Food and Wine Festival and dressing up like Tinkerbell to go to MNSSHP. We had a blast!

My only advice would be to rest now and do what you can once you get to WDW. There is so much to see and do there even if it turns out you can't do everything as planned. We were once there during a tropical storm with 3 days of straight rain. We still went out and had fun!

If you haven't been to your doctor about this, my opinion is it is worth a visit, if nothing else just to rule out other nasty stuff.
But my guess is by the time you get to WDW, you'll be over this. You might even be in that ravenous state that sometimes follows a period of light eating and/or sickness.

First of all, I am so sorry to hear you are ill. That is a tall order right before you leave but my advice, since you asked, would be to breathe. MY second bit of advice would be to change nothing in your plan yet. You can still enjoy the ambiance in a restaurant and order something more plain and less rich. Meals are about the food but they are more about the company, conversation and enjoying a shared experience. It is very likely you will be feeling better but the nice thing about a trip to WDW is you can be more flexible. You can go back to the resort rather easily to rest and there are so many options so you can find plenty of things to do. Rest up and get ready for a fun and magical trip.

I went while pregnant. I had bad morning sickness this pregnancy but not HG like my last one. I am on medicine and have been the entire time since my 8 week visit. I take Phernegan (sp?) because I cope with this side effects better than with Zofran.

That said--I would look into meds if you can get them before departure if your morning sickness is that bad.

I would concentrate on taking it slow. We only had one ADR that we added the day before. Sadly at the Biergarten which didn't work to well for me. But there was stuff I could eat. Just not much.

We ate mostly CS and I really played it by ear. Following a craving or what was manageable.

Early on, smells would have been a big issue for me. They were only a mild issue when we did our vacation in December.

I am so sorry you are sick now. I would focus on recovering from the illness portion. And for Disney, do what you can and don't be afraid to take breaks as you need them.

Traveling pregnant is different, but it doesn't mean it cannot be enjoyed.

I think you should probably call your doctor. I've never heard of food poisoning lasting that long. While I was pregnant, I had very bad morning sickness with all 3 of my kids, and it wasn't just in the morning - it was all day. My doctor finally gave me something for the nausea with all of them because I was losing weight instead of gaining. I'd call them - it may just be your pregnancy and they can help you out with that!

It could be a lot of things, food poisoning, morning sickness, stress, a virus, cold, even allergies. I have an issue where excess drainage from allergies makes my stomach acidy and I feel nautious. In any case, take it easy. It should be better by Sunday. I would try ginger, like ginger capsules, Altoids, or a strong ginger ale or beer. Also, use this as an excuse to eat what sounds good. If only a cupcake at BOG sounds good, so be it:) A few days of eating poorly won't hurt the baby. Eat smaller portions too. If carbonated stuff, especially club soda, helps, then drink that. Good luck. You will feel completely different in the 2nd trimester.

My three year old came down with a nasty stomach bug while in disney world last month. We ended up taking her to urgent care and they gave her zofran. She was better immediately. She started drinking, took a long nap and was ready for fireworks that night!
Zofran is what they give pregnant women with severe morning sickness. If it is food poisoning you should be fine by Sunday. If you're not go to the dr and see what they have to say.
Stop worrying, you will have a great time! There are still lots of fun things to do while you're pregnant and I'm sure you'll feel well enough to eat!!

I was thinking the same thing. I usually got over food poisoning relatively quickly. How far along are you OP? I was quite violently ill while pregnant. to the point of being bedridden. Just thinking maybe it's not food poisoning at all but part of the pregnancy or something else? Either way feel better soon.

It may be a stomach bug instead of food poisoning, but either way it should pass by Sunday morning, especially if you're already on day 3. I feel for you: I had an awful stomach bug while I was 7 months pregnant and I had a broken leg, to boot. It was awful. I am one of those people who never takes medicine of any kind while pregnant, but I had been throwing up nearly non-stop for 2 days and I was getting worse, so my OB/GYN gave me 1 dose of a pregnancy-safe anti-nausea medication and it made things much better. Good luck and fingers crossed that you'll be in WDW in a few days and WELL.

Its only wednesday today, sunday is 4 days away. You should be a lot better by then. Just keep drinking plenty of fluids.
