A Personal Message from Cesar and Ilusion Millan
We are sad to announce that after 16 years of marriage we have decided to file for divorce. The decision was made after much consideration and time. We remain caring friends, and are fully committed to the co-parenting of our two boys.

What did he do? Tried to do a search and couldnt find anything.

Apparently they were having marital difficulties relating to their culture. They were married when she was 19 and as religious Catholics, she followed her husband's lead. But she "grew up" with all the fame and money, and even after they went to marital counseling, she decided that she didn't want to be a typical Mexican helpmate anymore; she wanted to be a business woman with independence. No infidelity was involved. She has to do what makes her happy, but I hope they really tried to make it work before she served him the papers.

You're a year late.

In June, 2010, Millan announced his divorce.[33] Ilusión Millan filed for divorce, seeking primary physical custody of the kids with visitation for Cesar, as well as spousal support.[34]

Am I a year late? I thought the papers were filed on June 4, 2011? Not doubting you, but confused.:confused3

What do you mean by the bolded part? "Religious Catholics" can't be businesswomen?

Also like a pp said, this happened a year ago....:confused3

Oopsie. Sorry, people. It looks like I'm mistaken. I only heard about it this evening at the dog park.

A few years ago when he got really famous, she said as a religious Catholic in their culture, they believe in following he husbands lead. She was indeed a business woman, creating and developing a new type of dog lead which bears her name, but culturally they believe in the man being the head of the house.

From the transcripts I read, it seems she just grew up and wanted an independent life fee from the dog psychology world and her husband's travels.

i dont know about that. In the olden days mostly in Mexico yes the men worked and the women stayed home to care for the house and kids. I'm hispanic and catholic and our marriage is based on respect, love, commitment, communicating , comprimising etc... We both work because we have to pay the bills-lol!

personally I think he became famous and loved the attention and changed.
Just my opinion

btw
I dont know why but I watched his show a few times and just always got a weird feeling about him, dont know why but I did

So did he have issues with her independence? I agree with the PP that said she got a weird vibe from him. I think he wold be hard to live with.

Wanted to bold that, so that no one would think *you* were saying that. :)

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I never got a weird vibe. I just thought they always looked like a happy couple.
In 2007, Cesar and Ilusión Millan created the Cesar and Ilusión Millan Foundation: "a national, non-profit foundation designed to aid and support the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of abused and abandoned dogs."[26] Together they have also founded the Shelter Stars program to provide education materials to new dog adopters,[6] The foundation has since been re-named the Millan Foundation.

The talk is she got tired of all his traveling. She also had her own business/philanthropic obligations, besides caring for their sons, that made her a busy woman.

It looks like "one of those things", as they say. Lifestyles change, couples grow apart. I hope they get back together again some day.
