After hearing the negative review of Le Cellier on DIS Unplugged, I am so sad! It was my very favorite retaurant in WDW. I have 2 ressies for my upcoming trip, but now am thinking abt cancelling and going elsewhere. SInce the review was based on a Xmas Eve dinner, I am hoping it was due to being crazy busy. Has anyone eaten there within the last month? DO you have anything positive to say abt it?

no place will get 100% perfect reviews all the time. If you are put off by one review you won't be eating anywhere

If you have not been then I suggest trying for yourself. It is popular for a reason

I have been there before and it's my favorite, but there was a recent change of head chef. That's why I am concerned. The review said portions have shrunk significantly, and the menu has changed. SO I would like to hear from someone who has eaten there very recently who can confirm or deny that report.

We love LeCellier - perfect for a late lunch (2:30 PM) - you will just then have a snack for dinner :goodvibes

What we love (and we are picky eaters) - from the lunch menu (less expensive)

Beef and Barley Soup - rich beef broth and fresh vegetables $5.99

Grilled Steak Burger topped with your choice of cheddar or blue cheese. $11.49

Grilled Chicken Breast Sandwich - topped with marinated mushrooms, roasted peppers, black diamond cheddar cheese, and tarragon garlic mayonnaise on a sourdough English muffin $12.99

The cheddar cheese soup gets great reviews - but for us too may calories.

We are not on a dining plan, and lunch does not break our budget.

The room lighting is dim, but very nice and cool on a hot afternoon. You will appreciate it. Do not het me wrong, you can still easily read the menu. It just does not have the lighting of full-brights.

We ate dinner and lunch as part of Candlelight Processional packages. This was on December 9th and 10th. We had DDP and thought the place was fantastic and the food and service were excellent. We have eaten there in the past and did not notice any decline in service or food.

Both DH and I had filet for dinner and he had it again for lunch. I have the filet with maple and he has the other one. I just can't remember what I had for lunch. I do remember that our lunch waiter was leaving at the end of the month, and she was sad about that, and she also saw to it that we had good service. The food runner was slow, but when our waiter saw that, she stepped in and took good care of us.

Perhaps you are looking for something more recent. We have a reservation there for May, and intend to keep it.

Bobbi:goodvibes

DIS Unplugged negative about something? No, say it isn't so! They are always negative about everything! We love Le Cellier.

PS...There's a reason it gets overwhelming high reviews from guests..

We were there December 20th and had a great meal as part of a CP package, we were on the dining plan. We did not feel the menu was limited at that time. Hopefully someone will come in with a more recent review.

I haven't eaten there since Oct, but when I did everything was excellant, best meal there yet. :)

We ate there December 12th and had a fabulous meal. Well, everyone except the vegetarian of the party. She was not impressed with the meal and went somewhere else to eat after.

We all (the meat-eaters) had the filet and it was probably THE BEST steak we have all eaten! It was fork tender and cooked to perfection!

I will admit the menu does look to be smaller than it was last year, but my mushroom filet was still on it, so I was happy.

We also had very nice service. The server many not have been super warm and fuzzy, but she did her job in a very efficient manner so we have nothing to complain about.

If it were me, I'd start rumors about how bad Le Cellier is too, just so I wouldn't have a problem getting reservations next time. :rotfl2:

We ate at LeCellier last April (would have again in October, but NOBODY ate hot food at LeCellier on October 10th - no gas in the kitchen)

It is amazing! We loved every bite and can't wait to go back in March. I think if it was an old favorite of yours you'll still like it.

I don't disagree that some don't like it, but to them LeCellier probably just isn't their "thing".

Here's a link to a poll about favorite TS at Epcot - you'll see LeCellier high up on that list.

I wanted to note that I ate there in the past as a vegetarian and my meal was FANTASTIC - it was one the best meals I ever had never mind best restaurant in disney. I had a wild mushroom risotto that was sublime.

This won't answer the OP either, but professional restaurant critics would never base a review on one visit, especially on a holiday. \If that was done it is just irresponsible.

I hate to make a judgement on a holiday meal. Holiday meals really stink for many restaurants-most of the time you do not receive the best food or service. Just remember that people are 10 times more likley to report bad experiences than they report good service.

Whenever I have a bad experience, the place always gets a second chance. :)

In May (I know, not that recent but still), I though it was just ok. The fillet I had at Brown Derby was SO much better then the one I had at Le Cellier. *shrug* It's just personal preference really, but for the cost I didn't find that I met expectations. Also, it was way to packed with tables... as an interior designer it made me cringe to see the lack of space.

We had lunch there last week and had a fantastic meal! My brother and Mom loved their strip steak, my sister in law said the filet was wonderful, my neice positively inhaled her little steak and I had the open faced steak sandwich which was to die for.

I do have to admit, we faced this meal with trepidation. We have long loved the food at Le Cellier, but the last time we tried to have lunch there (over a year ago), we were surprised that there wasn't a steak on the lunch menu. Not only that, but in the evenings the number of children being allowed to run around like wild animals was appalling! However, this meal was calm, relaxing and the food (including steaks) was wonderful!

Actually the review on DU wasn't that negative about it - basically he just said that they were disappointed with the appetizers but the rest was fine ("ok to good" I believe).

I'm feeling better now. Thanks!!!! But if my pretzel sticks are tampered with at all, I will pitch a hissy!

twice, in fact. The food was good as usual. We were on the 07 dining plan so we had:
Tomato stack (good if you like tomatoes - we loved it)
Beef barley soup (with big chucks of beef in it - it was good on a cold day since we were there during the cold snap)
Mushroom filet (yummy)
Maple glazed filet (yummy as well)
Chocolate whiskey cake (very good)
Chocolate "moose" (I didn't have any, but DH liked it)

I think that the portions were similar to last year's. I took part of my mushroom filet back to the hotel room to finish it off. I could actually cut my medium-well filet with the plastic knife found in the food court. This says something positive about how they prepare the dish.

We also had great service both times.

I think you will still have a good meal (or two!) there. Yes the menu has changed (no more salmon timbale for example), but I think most should still find something that they like on the menu.

P.S. The pretzel sticks are still there

We had lunch there on Dec. 27 and thought the food was good, and the pretzel bread was still wonderful. The only problem I had was with my chicken caesar salad. It was beautifully presented, but the presentation made it hard to eat. They basically put two bunches of uncut romaine on the plate and drizzled it with dressing; it was topped with a parmesan cheese crisp and chicken breast. The salad looked wonderful, but with the whole leaves of lettuce it was hard to navigate on the plate. I had to cut the leaves up one by one and then attempt to coat them with the dressing. It tasted good too, but was hard to eat.

:thumbsup2

My parents, husband and I ate there the end of Nov. for the candlelight processional. We all enjoyed it a great deal and I would like to go back again sometime. They also made the yummiest low carb dessert I think I've ever had too. It was a sugar free citrus mousse with a raspberry cream sauce. Seriously, I'd go back just for that.

We had lunch there on Jan. 3rd and it was as awesome as ever! The portions were as large as our last visit in June. I had forgotten that when I made my ADR back in August I mentioned that it was a birthday meal for my DD14. Well guess what, when we declined dessert the wonderful waitress said she'd be right back with our check. Not only did she return with our check but also a lovely decorated plate with a chocolate cup filled with chocolate moose.:thumbsup2 My girls loved it.
