Make sure you do your research quickly to see if a direct purchase was the right choice. If you'll always want to stay at PVB, then it might be your best option, but you should consider buying a fixed week. If you'd like to stay at another resort more often, you should seriously consider rescinding the contract and purchasing resale.

Congratulations! Buying into DVC was the best decision we ever made! We own at AKV and will be staying at the Poly next June for the very first time... so excited! It is a beautiful resort. Enjoy!!!

You have 10 days to legally rescind.

Please take a look at some of the threads here about fixed weeks (also known as guaranteed week). They can be had for as low as 130 points.

A fixed week is a win-win for owners.

I bought at Poly, but I bought a fixed week lake view November contract. My room is automatically booked each year at 12 months out.

We know the guides rarely mention fixed weeks.

Owners at VGF are having problems booking studios at 11 months in the Fall. A fixed week would be a blessing for many of them, but you can't change a contract to fixed week after the fact.

YOU can, though. During your recission period, you'd essentially be cancelling your current contract and taking out a fixed week contract at the same time.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone! i am a numbers cruncher (estimator by trade) and for 11 years have been trying to justify DVC commitment. We finally are at that stage where 'free ddp' and values no longer worked for us. As far as buying DVC direct vs. resale, we did do our homework and for our wants and needs, the purchase we made was the best fit for us.
