So POP Sounds Pretty Good,HUH?

We stayed 2 nights at Pop in May.....thank God it was only 2 nights. No sleep at all. We were in the 80's building facing the pool. The noisest place I have ever been. Horrible. The pool is supposed to close at some point ...there were peopl in it screaming and yelling until after 3 am!! The food court was way overpriced. We had stayed at CBR the 3 nights prior and the same exact items were much cheaper there! I was surprised at this. The shop was nice and I did really like the interactive Goofy fountain...well my 1 year old loved it. That is a great touch ...I wish the other resorts had one.

I guess I just much prefer the Deluxe resorts for the quiet and more calm atmosphere. But we are set on staying at every resort on property...so I did my time there!

mickeyfan1, sounds MIDDLE class to me. CR Tower puts you on the verge of high class, but you haven't made it to the upper crust hotels like the Poly and GF. So maybe you qualify for UPPER middle class??? ;)

Oh good, I can sleep now! I have been inside the GF and the Poly, but they don't do it for me. I'll stick with middle class, it's so much easier!

I am surprised to hear that the prices were different from one resort food court to another. I thought all food (same food) was priced the same everywhere in WDW, you learn something new all the time here on the DIS.

Guess you'll have to count me in with the "low class" people as I'll be staying at the Pop in December _LOL.. Of course this trip is all about my granddaughter - and what would be appealing to her - and I'm sure the whimsical nature of Pop will do the trick..

On the other hand, I'm sure that many people who have stayed at the "deluxe" resorts have had encounters with "low class" people as well.. It's not a matter of what you spend - it's a matter of how you conduct yourself - and money has nothing to do with that.. Does O.J. Simpson ring a bell? I'm sure if he has gone to Disney he hasn't stayed at the Pop..

Hmmm........I always thought that to be a reflection of the parents. Guess it is just a low class thing. :crazy2:

Count me as low class also!! We usually stay at WL but after our stay at Pop in April we have book a return trip for Feb 16 -21!!!

Hey, could all you low class people eat only at the counter service areas too? That way you are not imposing on any one but others like yourselves. ;) :jester: :jester:

:wave2: :teeth:

I am still laughing over this thread!

I love that some people think $$$ = class. Oh, please. I've seen some of the biggest ** that do have $$. I think I have the oppisite view. The more $$$ ya have the less likely ya have any sense on how to treat people. But then that makes me no better. But in fact it REALLY is a matter of the person and how they were raised or what is in their heart. Me personally I loved Pop. I look at gf and I have no desire to stay there. I'm sure it's nice and all. But I like things to be laid back. So given a choice of any hotel at Disney and they all cost the same I would still choose the value. So, count me in a low class and proud! :wave2:

We just returned from a 2 week stay at POP. I will begin by saying that we've always stayed at CBR or Dolphin. We decided to add another vacation and use the remaining of our PAP and stayed at POP. We WOULD return. It wasn't bad at all. We stayed in 3428...50's...Bowling Pin. Our room overlooked the lake and we could see the Epcot fireworks everynight. We could see Spaceship Earth, Dolphin Resort and top of TOT. We would definitely stay there again especially with the low rates they offer. Enjoyed EVERYTHING about it! Prior to leaving I will say I was a bit hesitant about staying there, but SO glad we did. The rooms have a VERY nice decor. Not gaudy like the All Stars, etc. GO POP !

Greetings, from POP Century! :teeth: This is our 8th trip to Disney, and except for one offsite stay (plus Portofino at Universal), we've always stayed at Deluxe Resorts...first Beach Club, and then we bought DVC in '01, and have stayed at BWV. We move to BWV for 4 nights starting tomorrow. We can't wait...we love the BWV!!

But, I have to say, we've enjoyed it here at POP. It's a little garish, per DH, but fun, clean, pleasant, and we've certainly got our monies worth with our refillable mugs. We're saving on points this year to bank for next year, so we have two rooms here at POP for me, DH, and 3 kids (15, 13, and 11).

We're in the '60's building, and altho some of the 50's and 70's buildings are just as close to Classic Hall, I like having the guarantee of being close. We always walk through the food court, coming and going, with our mugs getting refills.

We haven't used the busses...we rented a car. We've been parking in the Check-in lot (am I going to get flamed for this? I didn't read much about POP before our trip), which is much closer to the entrance to Classic Hall.

Food at the food court was fine, but I'm not a food snob. Expensive? No more than anywhere else in WDW, I don't think.

We haven't spent any time really down by the pool, since we got a little sidetracked with "Charley" and have been making up for lost time touring the parks. Also, we've had a couple of storms since then.

What is it about the 70's building?? There were some rowdy folks on those balconies during the hurricane!! LOL Otherwise, it hasn't been really noisy here....we're on the opposite side from the pool...maybe that helps.

DH and I did comment to each other that people don't seem as friendly, as far as saying "hi" as you pass each other. But it could be because at DVC, you kind of feel like "family" and you have something in common.

We haven't stayed at deluxe resorts so much because we're deluxe resort snobs, but because we first stayed at Beach Club, and just loved it so much, we wanted to go back. And as much as I just LOVE that resort area (the proximity to EPCOT, the architecture of those hotels), now that we've stayed somewhere else, I'm game to try out other resorts in the future...from the All-Stars on up!

We had the 80's building pool view in July and loved it. People were using the pools inot the wee hours of the morning, but it was not really very distracting to us. Once everything was closed up in the room, we realy heard very little noise.
Of course I'm just a low class POP on weekends/arrival day DVC'er, so I may not really be the best person to listen to;) .
I have stayed at value through deluxe and have found the most horrid behavior to be that of unattended children/teens, I think a direct reflection of parenting or lack of rather than finances.

Okay everyone, RELAX!! I am truly sorry. I had just returned and I was grumpy and overtired when I posted. I was disappointed in the resort and I didn't mean to take it out on all of you. I did specifically say that I was referring to people that I encountered while at POP. I am not rich and I am not a snob and I apologize if I offended anyone. I know that several people with money say at Pop and you're right, their kids may have been the ones at the pool unsupervised and acting like wild animals. I was mostly referring to some of the adults I came across. I guess I was just there at the wrong time. I don't consider myself high class by any means but you would like to see people have some type of manners and I know this doesn't have anything to do with someone's financial situation. Again I'm sorry if I offended anyone but I was just telling you about my experience there. I probably won't go back to POP because I wasn't impressed with the transportation, the parking, and the food but we did love ASMo when we stayed there so I guess I'm low class too.
