for a few days... Well officialy that is. What do you think of it? Or do you even go to it? I will be honest. I still go to Dizneypins and Dizpins for all my info. I don't think Disney quite understands the Pin Trader... I think they saw a way to control the info and have failed bad at it. But that is just my opinion. What do you all think? I mean you can still register for an event on their site that took place 2 months ago!!!

Not worth the time or effort to go to the Disney Site. The information is not handled in a timely fashion. They don't really have a good understanding of the Pin Trading community.

Same here - it is always behind.

Maybe Disney should hire someone who actually does pins to handle the site.

Here are my thoughts.

Disney's site - The sites layout has good potential, I like the separate areas for each park, but everything else is completely broke. The list is too long, but as stated above it is just not worth the time. They had an official day and I was expecting a huge change or a major update, but alas they did absolutely nothing. I think their webmaster is on vacation or something.

Some additional thoughts on other web sites and discussion boards. It has been an interesting 2+ years watching how pin information has come out. I used to solely rely on this board and having people post that a pin came out, it was the only way you knew, and it was also where I did a lot internet trading. This and Pinpics is where it started, for me. Now, we have the two main disney pin information web sites. I think having two has been great for the hobby. It will be interesting to see how things change with Disney supposedly focusing on their web site.

There are also a ton of discussion boards out there, too many to keep track of, but all have their unique style and unique personalities. It really just shows how diverse the people are that enjoy this hobby.

It is amazing how this hobbie has grown....

I got an email from Disney stating that they will be announcing upcoming pins "months in advance" on their official site. It discussed several other things too, but I thought it was interesting that they were stating that "their official website" was going to be the one with the info first. They even mentioned the "other" websites (just not by name) that have been providing this information in the past. Since the site isn't very up to date, I'm interested to see how this "advance info" is going to work!

Not very impressive IMHO.

Try doing a pin search, which you provide the required info for. They still can't find it in their database!

I'll stick with Dizpins, PinPics and Dizneypins, thank you.

Gee Sue Ellen, how come you get email from Disney

That would be because I spend WAAAAAYYYYYY too much money with their company!!! :p :p :p

Talk about missing the boat. Even the worst of the home grown pin info sites run circles around the official site. But I fear Disney could try something underhanded to become top dog in pin information they may try the copywrite attack which works pretty much in their favor. As I recall on the newsgroup "RADP" (rec.arts.disney.parks) they had a button made up of three "@" symbols in the Mickey Head shape. One day Disney comtacted them and said that button is a copywrite infringement and if any one was caught wearing in the parks was to take it off or face ejection.

Larry, this is very true. Disney protects it's copyrighted stuff to the tenth degree. It will be very interesting to see how the site develops or stagnates in the coming months.

I, too, am HUGELY disappointed in the quality of the Disney site. It is soooooo much worse than the existing sites in terms of ease of use and ability to find information.

Now they say they will use the early announcement of pin releases as their hook to reel us in? Excuse me, but these are the same people who change their release dates uncounted times before the pin actually shows up! What good is early information if you can't rely on it.

It would appear that the Disney site is the poor step-child of internet development at Disney. It is obviously a project that someone works on if they have any extra time at the end of the day. The only way Disney could possibly compete with the existing sites if if they took a true pin person and made the site their full-time job. Not very likely in today's economy and headcount restrictions.

I think the one thing this emphasizes is what an amazing job the existing site people have done in developing tools that work when it is not their full-time job either. Kudos to ALL of you.
