So much Disney food is terrible

Btw the new menu changes are great and the Chefs are working extra hard to accommodate special diets/allergies (spoke with 4 today). I just submitted the form today and was a bit overwhelmed/surprised with the quick turnaround.

The chef handling Poly QS (Oasis pool bar/Captan cooks) was extremely accommodating offering to bring things from Kona!!

I think all these dining threads basically come down to two things ......money and lack of the concept of supply and demand. That's as politely as I can say what I think
Thanks for the lesson. All the whiners really need is for someone to school us on economics. Damn us for looking for better quality food at a more affordable price. We should all bow our heads to capitalism.

Judging by your response after 15 pages in this thread you didn't actually learn anything.

It's not the food quality that's a problem a majority of the time. It's the price Disney charges that has people in a tizzy. I just had the red fish at Narcoosee's. It's the best piece of fish I've had on Disney property (both times I've had it this year). If they raised the price to $99 I wouldn't order it. Not because it's not delicious enough....but because I don't value the dish for that price point. All the people who have sworn off BOG or Cali Grill at the current price fixe would be first in line if it was $39pp.

Sure, every restaurant is prone to a bad night or a bad dish. But I still believe the "so much of Disney food is terrible" crowd complains not because of the quality of the food....but the price of the food.

I would agree with the statement "so much of MK food is terrible" but there are options to be found at each park/resort if you try that have good food. I agree with your overall point that it's a value proposition. They have a captive audience and know it.

I also can believe that someone who goes to the parks without doing research and ends up eating at mostly QS or waitlist TS restaurants could absolutely come away thinking that most of the food is bad. If you aren't planning ahead for meals at Disney your quality and overall experience is going to be a lot lower than most people on these boards. Each park has some truly terrible options that are convenient traps for tired, hungry people.

You wouldn't, but many would.

I personally don't think the food is bad. The dishes are average but the theming is superb.

Honestly, I've been to BOG a few times and it was always excellent, even the food. Granted it's been a while since my last dinner there and I know things could have changed, but still.

There are over 200 restaurants throughout WDW, that is the 1 outlier.

It's still a theme park though. It's not 5 star restaurant that so happens to have rides.

Well, my point was that if someone wants that, they can go there, not that it should be expected at the corn-dog stand. 🤣

very well said.

I realize this isn't a "new" post/topic but it's been discussed so much over the years. 3 key points:
1. People's idea of food quality is extremely subjective to each and every individual single individual. (Hope that narrows it down enough) Taste, texture, presentation, serving size, cost, nutritional value, fit in one's diet, allergies, ingredients, smell, blah blah blah to name a few.
2. Mass prepared theme park food that is simultaneously available at dozens of places at the same time probably should alert the eater that they aren't getting individually prepared gourmet breakfast food with a pinch of this and splash of that. Further, comparing said food to McDonald's (drop in fryer food and the like) indicates a probably less than fully rounded eater with the sophisticated pallet requiring a rinse between courses.
3. Cost - For some people (I live in the NY/NJ area) the cost of most meals at WDW are very reasonable. I pay a whole lot more at home than I do there. I do never choose to experience dining experiences with or without characters. I fail to see the point in having my meal with characters or paying to have a scenic view, etc. (I have done meals to get better seating but that was very intentional and certainly NOT for the food).

I am food challenged and can't eat very much at any one time. I can exist on an order of crispy bacon for breakfast, an order of potato tots for lunch and dinner and then nibble on a main dish in the evening (mentioning this because my take on food is different).

The OP posting this after a stay at the Poly and nothing there being good made me giggle a bit - we bought DVC while staying at the Poly in large part because of a stay there were we were SO IMPRESSED with the food.

Meanwhile their jam is Mcdonalds, which none of us eat. So it makes sense we have completely different tastes. We're also a food allergy and selective eater family, the Poly actually fed all of us in multiple locations (as in we could all eat at the same place, and there were multiple places that accomplished this) - which is not normal for my family.

WDW is always hit or miss, a good or bad trip doesn't predict how the next will be, and it always costs too much, but by the time you figure in time to travel or doordash fees/tips usually is less costly than that.

So they put the green bean back in the pot where it came from ... to serve it to someone else. It's not like they threw it in the trash.

When I eat at the mall food court, the chinese place does the same thing. They will dish out food, and then put a single green bean or piece of broccoli back into the pan.

Man, my favorite mall chinese food place just heaps on the food! They are not a chain or anything though. They really provide a good value. It's too bad I am hardly ever in that mall anymore.
