Hi, ok..looking at bookign a trip for end of march next year, 14 nights, two kids, two adults.

AM looking through the hotels and am just unsure which is best for our needs.

I like the look of the value ones...think thats one of the ones we will go to. Not because of price, just beacuse i like that they are more colourful, the buildings, the decor etc.

but i just am unsure which.

we are currently torn between art of animation and all start music or all start movies.

any advice welcome.

Just my 2 cents here, but if I were staying for 14 nights, I would probably want to stay in a moderate. Don't get me wrong, the values are great and colorful and fun, but for 2 weeks, I find the moderates to be a vacation amongst themselves. We personally love Port Orleans Riverside- it is peaceful and relaxing...a true getaway from the parks!

If the only choices are those three then I would go for AOA. It's newest and probably best. Personally, I don't know that I would want to spend 14 days though. For that amount of time I would consider a mod or deluxe for the space and amenities. Maybe you could do a split stay.

What ages are your kids? Pools get better as you move up.

We have three boys that have been going since they were pretty young- the pools are what really make the resort time fun for them... As you get to a moderate, the pools do get better. They all agree that POR and the YC are their two favorite resorts (and neither of those have anything "fun" to look at!)

I agree 14 nights seems like a long time in such a small room with double beds! For longer stays, I like to do a split stay...maybe 7 nights at a value and 7 at a moderate?

ETA: if I were to do 14 nights at AoA, I would have to go for a family suite, which would get fairly pricey.

There will be plenty of colorful Disney characters in the park. The values are a great bang for your buck, but they are really just motel rooms with really big statues for decorations. I personally couldn't stay two weeks in one, especially with only two full sized beds. I think you really need to read through the reviews on the different resorts. I agree with the other poster that said you might want to consider a split stay starting at the value and moving up to a moderate (never the other way around). If I had to choose between the 3 you mentioned I would choose AoA and go with a family suite, of course for that price I would move up a level to at least the moderates.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents in favorite of a value resort. We just returned from a 9 night stay at All Star Sports. There were 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids, boys ages 9 and 11. We didn't find the room too small for our needs. We could have easily stayed there for 14 days. My kids (and I) like the decorations of the Value resorts and think the Disney oversized icons there are cool - we stayed at Sports and got the Home Run section because my son is a big baseball fan. We've stayed at Movies too in the past and loved the Toy Story section there. But to the OP, it also depends on your vacation style - are you going to be on the go most of the time and not in your room? Then I would say a value resort is fine. But if you are going to hang at the resort a lot, then yes, maybe look into other resorts with better pools. I think the value resort pools are fine, but no, they don't have a slide. But with 14 days, I'd just hit some water parks for slides and fun. Anyhow, I just wanted to add that we are a family of four and we like the look of the All Star resorts. (Never stayed at AOA.)

Then I would definitely go for at least a moderate. Staying 14 days you will no doubt have some resort days. Values are good for sleeping. I would look into all the moderates and deluxes and see the difference in the pools. I know it send crazy, but I would give anything to hang by the pool at the Beach Club or the Poly and you would have to pay me to hang at a value pool. Just last week it was posted that a parent told her daughter to just "pee in the pool" after making her other daughter pee in a bush by the pool.

From your choices, I would go with AoA. It's newer and is closer to many of the parks than the All Stars are . Were you looking to get suite or a standard room? If you were looking for a standard room (Little Mermaid section) those are usually excluded from discounts and free dining offers. You might find that if discounts or free dining are released, it might be cheaper to upgrade to a moderate. The family suites at AoA are more than the price of a moderate room and you can find rooms at the deluxe resorts for the same price if discounts are offered.

I don't think I could personally stay in a value for 14 days either. The rooms are quite small, especially with 4 people.

Renting DVC points is another option. You could stay at deluxe resort for the price of a value/moderate rooms. Personally, that is the way I would go especially if I was here 14 days.

You certainly have a lot of options! Have fun choosing

I meant to say the theming at the moderate and deluxe are more subtle. They definitely still have that Disney feel though and I think with the ages of your kids they would enjoy any resort.

As a pp mentioned, why not try to rent DVC points? The DVC will give you more of a "home" feel rather than a hotel room feel. If you plan on eating in and would like to cook a couple of meals, the DVC would be perfect!

I have family friends that have kids 6 and 10 and they stayed at Coronado Springs for 7 nights and they really enjoyed their trip. Mom liked it because it was nice to have some adult amenities there (sit down restaurant as well as a little bit bigger bed option). Kids loved the pool and the slide there. It's all they told me about even before the parks.

If it were me planning, I would be willing to cut back a day or two for the whole trip and upgrade the space. That being said, I absolutely loved staying at Pop on our last trip. DH and I slept in separate beds because 2 tall adults don't fit well together!

as for the two centre thing, what I (in the biggest I writing i can as my family probably wont go for it) would like and i hope im ok mentioning it on here, i would like a week maybe in a value and a week in the Hard Rock at Universal..... i am booking all this through an agent, basically *** id be mad panicking i had got somat wrong if i do it myself online, but i can check the price for this as it wont let me do twin centre on the website for the agent im using (am in uk if anyone can help)

If you look at Moderates, I highly suggest Port Orleans Riverside. We loved it. The pools were great. Not that we spent much time there.

Outside the rooms, values are colorful, inside they're kind of drab. If you go from a Disney value to a Universal hotel you'll be shocked at the difference in look and feel and room size. I would only stay value again if I was only going to be there to sleep and in the parks the rest of the time.
