So, $6000 + tip (and meal?) for the guide so let's figure $7k. More than many of us could ever afford without wincing (at the very least)

Now if you could manage to scrounge up 9 other people that would be $700 pp. Not too bad for what you get.

I always forget that I can ask random people when I am doing the math on a VIP tour. I wonder if it's worth it, though. Some people just aren't fun to be around. It would be a bummer to pay that much to spend all day with a complainer or an excessively needy person.

nDH and I were just talking about that! We added 'or an excessively entitled one'. Our problem is that we don't have enough 'Disney-holic' friends to make up the 10. And we'd want an 'adult-ish only' group (probably 16+). Not for drinking, but for group dynamics.

I guess it'd have to be a situation that was planned well in advance with numerous 'committee meetings' to set ground rules and vote in an itinerary that 'works' for the majority. So if the majority want to ride SM & Incredicoaster, I'd either have to agree to sit them out (or ride and hurl) or back out of the tour. That wouldn't be a biggie for me since I sit them out anyway if others want to ride. Although maybe I'd feel the 'time pinch' more if I was 'paying' to sit out lol.

I think I'd add that 'all parties must submit a current psychological evaluation'. lol

Psycho eval, . If you ever decide to do it, let me know. While I don't ride many of the headliners, it would still be worth it to me for a lot of the other rides and I can just chillax while the group rides the rides that set off my vertigo.

I get 'run of the mill' motion sickness (I know that vertigo is a whole 'nother kettle of fish!), but it's pretty much just SM, Incredi, & teacups that are 'no gos' for me. Now that I've discovered Scopolamine, some of my previous 'no gos' are ok, just ONCE per trip.

Just as a clarification..."Plaids" are all the Guest Services cast members who are responsible for many things like staffing City Hall and Chamber of Commerce, manning the info Kiosks throughout the park, as well as Guides for the paid guest tours that anyone can book (like Walk in Walt's Footsteps...pre Covid anyway)...VIP tours are just one responsibility of Guest Services and not all Plaids are trained for nor necessarily VIP Tour Guides when you see them out and about.

If you see a Plaid strolling around the park with guests, waiting in attractions lines, dining in restaurants, or on attractions...those are on a VIP tour.

When we were there Oct 6-10, I'm talking about those actually strolling the park with guests. I've never seen that many. That is what caught DH's attention- and he is not the most observant so if he notices something you know something is really different. lol. Different groups of guests with a plaid were walking past us in the parks over and over; we saw them at rides- sometimes with the plaid riding with them and sometimes with the plaid just walking them up and waiting; we had them pass us when we were exiting rides or watched them come up in the area that DAS uses, or used to be the FP line; at several of our dining reservations we saw plaids dropping off groups of guests- at Cafe Orleans while we were standing outside waiting for our text our table was ready, we actually watched 2 separate plaids with guest groups come up to check their people in. There were a ton out with guests.

I have vertigo too but the only firm no-go on my list is the Incredicoaster. Space Mountain freaks me out but I do it once per trip for my husband (and now, our kiddo.).

We took a tour in August (7 hours, $700 per hour). I asked our guide what she did while the parks were closed, and she told me that Disney had stationed her in Downtown Disney to remind people to wear masks. Needless to say, she was very pleased about the reopening.

Have you tried SeaBands? I'm usually fine just taking some meclizine but since ToT changed to GotG, it has started making me queasy, so I wear my SeaBands as well and that seems to do the job. I even managed to take my niece on Star Tours without getting sick!

Have you tried SeaBands? I'm usually fine just taking some meclizine but since ToT changed to GotG, it has started making me queasy, so I wear my SeaBands as well and that seems to do the job. I even managed to take my niece on Star Tours without getting sick!

Seabands, ginger, Bonine, Dramamine. Zippo effect, still made me ill. Scopolamine patches work like a charm on every ride I tried, even FoP and Expedition Everest. Haven't been to DL yet with the patch.

It is up to the guides. Some guides enjoy the rides, others do not. Only ride they "aren't allowed" is Grizzley.

One of our regular guides always rode with us. She had a car accident one day and it was fairly serious. (She is fairly well known, and it was discussed on the boards.) One day she calls to talk and tells me they had discovered an issue with an artery and that she would be fine without surgery, but could never ride a roller coaster. My granddaughter, about age 7, yelled "Don't they know what she does for a living!!"
