After 16 years of laundry bliss, the dryer has bit the dust. It is the timer and the cost of replacing it is a little high for a dryer that old. So - the shop for a new dryer has begun. We purchased a Whirlpool Duet front load washer a few years ago and LOVE it. We want to get a dryer that will match. I have found 3 dryers that I think will work at Lowes but the options have me confused. Because I intend this dryer to last at least 16 years, I want no regrets. With 3 children, I do at least 1 - 2 loads every day.
All advice is welcome - my questions
  • Steam or not??
  • If you go the steam route, how do you get the water to the dryer?
  • Stack the washer and dryer? The way our laundry room is set up, it would really be a wonderful change to make the most of the space
  • If you stack, is is still o.k. to put some sort of base to elevate the bottom - DH said he could build one that would hold the weight with no problem.

Are there any "must have" options?
