We haven't done DQ yet, but hopefully we'll get our chance someday! :goodvibes I also love all of the souvenirs that you got. I want one of those T-Shirts really, really bad!!! I may not wait until I go back to Disney, I may go to Disney.com but my DH would probably get mad at me, LOL! :goodvibes

The pot holder is so adorable. I just love the Mickey kitchen stuff.

Yay, glad you liked the movie too! We will for sure be buying it when it comes out. The short was cute...it was a little bit different than some of the other ones they've done in the past.

Hi!!:wave2: DQ was a lot of fun! We never seem to plan a lot of time to visit DTD so that is my goal next trip. There really is so many things to see and do there. Those t-shirts were really cute and popular!! We picked ours up at the resort and had a hard time finding the sizes we needed. The Mickey kitchen stuff is so cute and so hard to resist. I wish I would have been able to pick up more. I'm still having a hard time using the potholder, so for now it's just nice to look at it hanging over my stove.;)

The short was different but so cute! I liked how they learned to appreciate each others differences in the end.:)

April 15, 2010--Typhoon Lagoon

"There's no place I'd rather be
Then on my surfboard out at sea
Lingering in the ocean blue
And If I had one wish come true
I'd surf till the sun sets
Beyond the horizon"

I don't why...but for some reason I think of this song every time I look at our Typhoon Lagoon pictures....:rotfl: Can you guess the song?

When I woke up on Thursday morning, I rolled over and looked at the clock...it was almost 7:00am. I think it was the first day since we arrived that I had actually slept longer than 6:00am. I knew I could probably roll over and go back to sleep since this was our water park day and it opened later than the rest of the parks. But, being in Disney I went over to the curtain to peek outside. It looked a little hazy. I'll admit...I was a little worried. There was rain in the forecast. The only day of the week it was predicted and the day I had planned for going to Typhoon Lagoon and then Hollywood Studios for Fantasmic later on. UGH! I just prayed that it would hold out for us.....

It wasn't long before the guys were up, dressed and ready for some breakfast. We headed down to the food court and found our usual spot...yes..again we are that predictable.;) We decided instead of just grabbing muffins or whatever this morning, since we had time we would get some breakfast. DH and I decided on the adult breakfast platter which was eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and biscuit. Nick also got the adult platter (remember the...eyes are bigger than my tummy thing?) Well, it was true again. Aww...but he enjoyed it! Noah got the chocolate chip pancakes and sausage. It was good and filling..well..except for the eggs.:sad2:

After breakfast we headed over to the gift shop to look around again..I think it may have been during this time that I picked up a few of those souvenirs I shared in my last post. After that we headed back to the room to gather all our stuff...sunscreen, waterproof camera, towels, etc. and then back down to the bus stop.

A short bus ride later...we were soon at our destination! Typhoon Lagoon!

Although, I'm sure most of you have heard the legend already on how Typhoon Lagoon came to be and how disaster struck turning a sleepy resort upside down. But, I thought I would share another cute version that I found......

“Once upon a time there was a bayside Florida village called the Placid Palms Resort, tucked into the valley of a volcanic mountain. Over the years it had been subject to earthquakes and geothermal rumblings, but life remained tranquil. Even when cruise ships arrived, the Placid Palms stayed a quiet thatch-roofed haven. Then came Hurricane Connie, in 1955. For one hour furious winds pounded the area. A boat blew through a building. A surfboard sliced through a tree. Crates of fireworks blew in from Mr. Pleasure’s nearby island warehouses. A next-door fruit processing plant lost its walls but gained a tractor, which teetered on the roof. A small harbor had been cut off from sea, trapping an overturned boat, thousands of fish and even a few sharks. Suffering the worst fate: a shrimp boat named Miss Tilly, blown in from Safen Sound, Fla., became impaled on the peak of Mt. Mayday. “No worries!” said the laid back villagers. Sign paint in hand, they renamed the Placid Palms the Leaning Palms, the center of a new topsy-turvy tropical playground of pools, rapids, rivers and streams. They christened the spot Typhoon Lagoon. And they lived happily every after."(A footloose fairy tale from The Complete Walt Disney World Travel Guide.)

So once we made it inside, our first objective was to get a locker. Luckily the wait wasn't too long at that point and soon we were stuffing our things inside. Now...I do mean stuffing because even though we had paid for a large locker they gave us a regular one. We decided to wait until later and try to get credit before we left rather than wait in a much longer line now. Besides, we were ready to get wet and have some fun!

Before, we left I had spend a good share of time looking over the Typhoon Lagoon map because I had heard that things were not clearly marked and it could get confusing trying to find where you wanted to go. So true!! We knew we wanted to start with the family raft ride first...Gangplank Falls.

(just to give you an idea...photo wdwinfo.com)

This ride was so much fun but definitely too short! Although, at that point I was ready for it to be over because every waterfall we went under I was the one that got soaked. I literally looked like a drowned rat coming off the ride. I don't know if I have ever seen the boys laugh so hard. :rotfl:

Our next stop was Keelhaul Falls "Hop aboard your inner tube and slide down one of the "soft foam" slides, passing through caves, waterfalls and special effects along the way."--wdwinfo

The boys loved this ride! I liked it too but when I started off, I must have leaned a certain way and around and around I went. So not only was I going through these twists and turns but also spinning! Finally I maneuvered myself to go down straighter which was much better!!

Okay, so far I'm soaked and dizzy! Where would the boys want to go next? Mayday Falls!! Close by and very similar to Keelhaul Falls. Very fun too! As you may have noticed...we were trying to "work" our way up to Crush 'N' Gusher. Nick definitely wanted ride....Noah wasn't sure yet.

We stopped for a quick bathroom break and Noah decided to show me how much he was loving TL.

We spotted Castaway Creek and decided to check it out! Even though our original plan was to do it after lunch. It was there and so were we and a relaxing ride down the lazy river sounded good to us!

The lazy river was so much fun! But I realized very quickly how swiftly that water moves. At first I was just floating along until I finally got on my tube and that carried me much farther down than the boys and DH. I kept looking back and trying to slow down with no luck. Finally I got off and just leaned on the tube so I could slow down and wait for them to catch up.

After we finally all caught up with each other, we decided to get off and figure out what we were going to do next. The boys were begging to head toward the wave pool. Honestly, I wasn't too excited to have some giant waves push me down. I actually thought we should be heading over to the slides or Crush 'N' Gusher...knowing they were going to get busy and fast. Hmm...so where did we go?

Up next---Did we make it to the wave pool? Did we ever ride Crush 'N' Gusher? Did we even find it?

Stay tuned....

Great update on TL - looks like you are having a wonderful day so far :thumbsup2

I'm not big on water parks, but in the dead heat of summer, especially FL summers, I am certain it would be quite refreshing!

Thanks!:goodvibes We were having a lot of fun! I'm not big on water parks either. Honestly, I would have preferred to head back to MK.... but the boys had been wanting to try a water park ever since our first trip, so we finally gave in. I'm glad we gave it a chance. We had a great time!:thumbsup2

We enjoyed TL...but we only spent a 1/2 day there instead of a full day like at Blizzard Beach. If we do the waterparks again, maybe we'll switch!

I so hope you made it to Crush n Gusher! There's really no other ride like it. :thumbsup2 I'm pretty sure that's where we spent most of our time!

Oh and I know that song....it's Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride...a Lilo and Stitch song! Answer in white so I don't spoil it for anyone else! ;)

Hi Missy!:goodvibes Great job on the song! Aww...love that song and the movie it's in!!;)

We really liked Typhoon Lagoon. I thought for the boys ages it seemed a better fit for us this time. I'm sure as the boys get older we will definitely be trying Blizzard Beach....all your pictures made it look like so much fun.:thumbsup2

Ooh, I know the song, it is Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride from Lilo and Stitch.

Looks like you had fun at Typhoon Lagoon. We enjoyed it there but liked Blizzard Beach a lot more. I know you said the family raft ride was super short and I remember thinking that about some of the slides there too. If I go back there it'd be so I can do Crush 'n Gusher.

Can't wait for more!

Great update at Typhoon Lagoon! It looked like you guys had a great time Angie! That's awesome you got so many pictures too, is your camera waterproof?? The boys seemed to be having a great time and what a great idea to kind of "work them up to" some of the bigger rides!! I  lazy rivers!! We would love to try a waterpark next trip, Gabe keeps asking! I can't wait to hear about Crush n Gusher and the rest of your day!!!! popcorn::

Oh I totally should have known that song! Ariana listens to it constantly on youtube. It's funny though, once I knew what it was I went back and read it, well actually, sang it again! It's such a catchy tune.

Yay, Typhoon Lagoon! I'm so glad you've enjoyed it so far. I could totally go for a ride on the lazy river right about now. :sunny:

I hope you made it to the wave pool and to Crush 'n Gusher (with fanny lifted! :rotfl:)

YAY!:yay: on the song guess!! Love that song!

Typhoon Lagoon was so much fun! I've heard a lot of great things about Blizzard Beach too! We may have to give it try next time.:thumbsup2

Thanks Beth!:goodvibes We were having such a great time! I actually purchased a waterproof disposable camera before the trip. It came with a strap so I just put it around my wrist and whenever I wanted to take a picture it was right there and I didn't have to worry about it getting wet.:thumbsup2 And for being a disposable I don't think the pictures came out too bad. Oh... I loved the lazy river!!:lovestruc The only thing that surprised me was how swift the water was. That's how the boys were... asking all the time to go to a water park. We finally decided to give in this trip. So glad we did!;)
