I could have sworn that some time ago it was that children 3 and under were free at Disney.... And now I am reading that if you are 3 you need a ticket.

Did something change? Or has it always been like this and I am mis-remembering?

Thanks!

I think its always been that way. I seem to remember having to buy a ticket for my 3 year old when we went to Disneyland many, many years ago.

As far as I know it's been up until age 3 your free and once your 3 or older you require a ticket, with the exception of if your child turns 3 during your trip they are considered "free" that whole trip

As long as I can remember, it was under 3 was free. 3 to 9 is child price.

I guess in my head I was reading it 3 and under... meaning anyone who is 3 AND younger...hmmmmmm - Dang... my brain ain't what it use to be! LOL

Just say under 3 not like they can ask for id

Really? You're saying to lie? Not to mention that if the child heard Mom telling the gate CM that she's 2, I can bet that she's going to say, "No, I'm not, Mommy, I'm 3."

Sure just make up for it by what you buy in the park. :) :joker:

Yep, that's the trick when dealing with children that young. You ask THEM how old they are. Every child is so proud that they are a big boy/girl that they will tell you if they are three, no matter how much parents coach them.

It's a normal confusion. I know people think that their 2 year olds get to be lap babies. It's UNDER 2, though.

The under-3s I've known will actually tell you they are 5, 8, 84...whatever they are thinking about at that moment. :) Which is a good way CMs have of figuring out who is actually free. If they actually tell you they are 2, they might not be! :):p

I know lap baby is under two. We were there May 8 - 13, landing home at 11:55 PM. My beautiful GD turned 2 on the 14. She had a passport card and a birth certificate that were both scrutinized. I've known people who have had to pay for the return trip on the child's birthday.

Kids 3 and up have always needed a ticket, the exception being when they turn 3 during your trip (So if they are 2 on the first day then Disney considers them 2 the entire trip)

Yes but they can also be so excited to be turning something soon as well. DD will turn 3 on our trip (near the end) but if you ask her now she will tell you she is 3, DD4 has been almost 5 since the day after she turned 4
