So. Lake Tahoe Vacation Clubs

We have been debating about buying a resale at Mar. Timberlodge or at the Lake Tahoe Vacation Club (I believe this used to be Embassy). For those of you that own a vacation club at someplace other than Disney do you enjoy it as much? Is it worth it for every other year (I noticed that for Marriott I can buy for every - other - year) or would we be better off renting a house or staying at Harrah's or someplace else? Thanks
