It seems like there are some places that are almost impossible to get a ADR for so I'm wondering just how far in advance can you make a reservation?

If you are within the 180 day window and are still having trouble getting an ADR somewhere for a time you like, call or look on line periodically to keep checking. We had the most difficult time getting an ADR for Ohana before 9:30PM for any of the 10 days we will be there this upcoming trip. We checked again today and were able to get a 5:30PM ressie that definitely wasn't available before! People cancel and things open up so just keep checking!

If you're staying onsite- it's 180+10. So, you can start booking on day 180, but you can book +10 days after that of dining by linking your resort confirm number when starting to book.

i.e. if you were checking in for a week on Dec 7th...your day 180 would be June 10th (I believe)...and you could book all of your dining for all 7 days at 6am ET via the website.

Yup. Just remember that the +10 is inclusive, this means that you can make 10 days worth of ADRs on that 180 day mark. It's not the 180 day mark, and then 10 days after that (I know, semantics, but it catches a few people off guard).

As for the actual 180day mark... you can plug your dates into The "PS" Calculator* and it'll spit them out.

* (The PS Calculator is a holdover from the old days of "Priority Seating" vs. Advance Dining Reservations. They're basically the same thing, but it explains why it's called a "PS Calculator" ;))

Does that mean its 180+ the next 9 days?

also depends on whether you are going low crowd season or not.

Last yr, for my end of Jan trip, I made ressies in Oct/Nov and into Jan for lots of places, including Rose & Crown (for Illum), Le Cellier (ended up with 2 ressies), Ohana (a perfect 5pm ressie), HDDR, Chef Mickey. we had 10 days of TS meals to book.

The only ones that were slightly difficult were:

Ohana - tried to get a 2nd ressie and had absolutely no luck. Kept trying daily after we got there too.

Le Cellier: got a 2ish/3ish ressie so not my first choice. Finally in jan after haunting various cancel ADR threads, I got a dinnertime ressie. We kept both ressies for the trip (it was awesome).

HDDR: Friends we met up with at WDW decided on the day of that they would like to join us at HDDR that night. We called all afternoon. They kept saying no. When we got there to check in, we asked yet again and amazingly enough - the answer was YES! We were shocked. (sadly, they were in the middle of IASW and couldn't make it over in time to join us).

Our upcoming trip is end of Aug. I was trying to book at 180+10 (in Feb), but due to various things, my TA booked a few days later. Had no trouble with our ressies. A few weeks ago, I saw a thread raving abt the new menu at CRT bfast. So I added that around end of April/early May. That's 4 months out. No problems getting the exact time I wanted and I would expect bfast to be the most popular meal?

Keep in mind - all this is during free dining.

Yes. For example, if you're checking in on the first, you may make ADRs for the 1st through the 10th. The "180+10" notation is a breakdown of the perk and not a math problem (don't worry, this gets a ton of people confused as it can be a bit misleading). It's much easier than writing out, "You may make up to 10 days worth of ADRs starting at 180 days before your date of check-in." (Which is how Disney, more or less, states it.)

I've been mentioning it a bit lately as we've seen a few people recently with 11 day trips (or more, but expecting up to the 11th day) get confused as to why they couldn't book those days. I figured I'd get the word out :)
