Hey! I read that Back to the Future would be closed on the 15th, does anyone know anything new about that?

It was open earlier today, just got back, no posted signs about it closing, though it was closed tonight during HHN

Im coming over to Orlando from Scotland for the first time on Wednesday. This is one of the rides I have always wanted to go on, I hope it stays open for a little longer.

Here's hoping it stays open for another week or so.....dd really wants to ride it next Sunday!!!

I suspect it will be open on Sunday.

It was open yesterday but is definitely due to close - lines are horrific as only part of the ride is open (40 minutes for express pass), no idea how long for regular lines. Went on this about 10 years ago in California and absolutely loved it (no comparison to Star Tours). This time though the ride was so bumpy and jerky that I came off with my 9 year old daughter who is never affected by anything, nauseous and light headed. I don't know if it was just us, or maybe this is why they are closing it.

Some peeps on here may disagree with me but in my opinion its by far not the best ride in the park, and in my opinion is one of the worst. Coming from Scotland I wouldn't want you to judge the park based on that ride. There are a ton of better rides there in my opinion. For starters. The Mummy, Men In Black, I even like Jaws better than BTTF. And IOA has Spider-Man, Jurassic Park, the Hulk, just to name a few, all of which I think are better, and by a wide margin. I wouldn't dis-courage you from riding it, just wouldn't want you to think that its even close to being one of the better rides.

we did our final ride a couple of weeks ago and got stuck in the rear row.

ouch, ouch, ouch.

Yeah I'll ride it the next time I feel like its time for a back injury. Its not even the jerkiness to me that I don't like its just the simulation doesn't make me even feel like I'm flying or whatever, it just feels like I'm sitting in a jerky chair watching a weird movie.

I totally appreciate it may not be one of the better rides, but being an 80's kid who loved the BTTF movies it has always been something I wanted to go on.

As for the other rides you mention........I cant wait :woohoo:

It was still open yesterday, Monday.

I wasn't just you. This ride consistently gets your same review on this board. We were there in August and, based on these reports, none of us rode it. Now DS9 is upset that he didn't ride it since it is closing, but I'm not sorry. I can think of several rough roller coasters I've been on (anyone here ridden an old Arrow or Vekoma SLC lately? Ouch ouch ouch!!) and I'd rather save my back, head, sanity, and pleasant vacation time. Rides are supposed to be fun, not painful.

Also glad to see it go. Ride was too rough, and it made half the people sick by tricking the brain. I can ride any coaster on the planet, I've done Kingda Ka, Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Superman, you name it. But when I ride a simulator, I get sick and it lasts for 2 hours after.

It is fair to say that it was my biggest let down on my first Orlando trip in October last year. Very outdated and no real shock that it is going.

What will take its place and how long before a new ride is operational ???

Im due back in October 07.

 Not only it be closed for our trip in late June, I assume the likelihood of a retrofit/new attraction (Simpsonspopcorn:: ) up & running by then has a snowballs's chance.:headache:

That's difficult to say actually...

IF there's some way they have the "closed" side built already with the new attraction and all they have to do is switch over the queue and film then it might be open by then for that side....

although if so, they'd still be at 1/2 capacity for a new ride and I think they wouldn't do that.

Because BTTF is the only reason to go to UO.....anyway, It all depends on what is replacing it. If they are utilizing the same system, and the Simpson is not a go...then the one side of the ride could be already operational.
I am having a strange feeling that Harry Potter is going into BTTF.
