I have a 1BR at SSR, which I can deal with. I'd much prefer our homes of BCV or AKV, but given this was booked way last minute, I totally get that I got what's leftover.

My question is...since I've only waitlisted once before...what do you think my chances are of getting either BCV or AKV with the waitlist?

I think the odds are against me a bit in that the dates are M-Th.

I'm wondering if next week or a little later would be more telling in that we'll be within 30 days and people may be cancelling to not go into holding.

Thoughts...

IMHO, that would be your best chance. Hope it works out for you.

We just had our waitlist come through today for a studio at BCV for April 3rd! Good luck with yours and dont give up hope.

Zulaya,

We are on a waitlist for a 2 bedroom at BCV's.

We currently have a ONE bedroom, we don't want....We have a ONE bedroom for 3/29 to April 7th.

I'm the same way, booked late this year...Our teachers don't have a contract so the dates were released late this year for our spring break....
Keeping my fingers crossed on the 2 bedroom...I wish you luck on your waitlist also....

dtheboys--

Good luck on the 2BR! Hopefully I'm high enough up on the waitlist that I can get your 1 BR when yours comes through!

I'm waitlisted from a 1 bed to 2 bedroom at BCV for April 8-April 11. Please pass that room on to me after you are done! Let's hope someone who reserved for a few weeks cancels!

Wishing us both luck.

Deb

Your odds are better, of course, as it gets closer.

Anyone else feel sorry for SSR? No one ever wants to stay there unless they "have" to. :)

Good luck!

It seems that most people who try SSR like it!

No reason to "feel sorry" for a perfectly lovely resort and spa with 4 pools (2 with kiddie splash areas), 2 playgrounds, golf, a top notch community hall, 2 bars with snack options, one quick service eatery, one full service restaurant with a bar and pool tables, and easy access to restaraunts, shops, disney quest and cirque!

Sorry indeed!

Ill be at Saratoga Springs in May guess it wont be that bad after all sounds like we dont even need to go to the parks (lovers ONLY weekend AKA NO KIDS)!!!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong, you guys. I don't "hate" SSR. Far from it. This was not meant as an SSR bashing thread.

Was SSR the only resort with availability when I called, only 6 weeks out ~ yep.

Should I have planned ahead if I wanted to stay at my home resort ~ absolutely!

Am I crying my eyes out because my reservation is at SSR? No.

I personally am glad to have the flexibility that DVC provides in allowing us to use our points at other DVC resorts outside our homes, especially on such short notice. I also equally glad that the opportunity to be on a waitlist is available.

Please don't make this out to be anything negative as it truly was not meant to be that way.

Zulaya,

I understand where you are coming from, and I hope the waitlist comes through for you!

I did not take any of your posts as SSR bashing. :goodvibes

It was someone else's post that got my pants in a wad. I'm sorry if it seemed to be directed at you.

actually, SSR is our 2nd favorite DVC resort (BWV being first).
due to its size, it was the only resort available with a studio for a "spur of the moment" trip last june. worked out wonderfully, because that was one of the best vacations we've ever had ~ SSR really lived up to, or exceeded, every single accolade i've heard from "SSR lovers" (thank goodness we prefer deciding our likes & dislikes for ourselves, & take opinions with a grain of salt. otherwise, we would've missed out on a very beautiful, elegant resort with an amazing amount to offer).
btw, we own BWV, BCV, & SSR ~ while i know many love BCV, we would absolutely sell the BCV contract before the SSR. we're just glad that every DVC resort has its own special beauty & ammenities that appeal to different people ~ there is something for everyone :)

My parents own BCV points and stayed there for the first time over New Years - they didn't like it as well as they did Saratoga. They stayed at Saratoga Christmas week and loved it.

Mom and dad felt BCV was just too busy and they hated that the market place lathered blue cheese all over the sandwiches (mom said who ever heard of putting all that goop on a sandwich whether you want it or not). She prefered the peacefulness of Saratoga and she thought Artist Palette was way better than the "blue cheese" market sandwiches at BCV.

I'm really glad that we have so many choices with DVC.

I was able to switch 3 nights at SSR from March 2nd to a check-in today for three nights for my brother and his wife. The weather is supposed to be really good for the next 3 days and the place they were staying in Davenport, Florida, isn't that great as far as the pool area - so DVC member services worked some magic for me - :goodvibes Good luck on your waitlist.

We had made ressies last July for a studio at BCV for 30 Mar -Apr 4th. Woa-Hoo!- Flower and Garden Festival--here we come! :thumbsup2 .
In November, I found out I would have different days off and couldn't get leave 30 Mar-4 Apr--so, we had to change our ressie  . We reserved the 5th and 6th of APR with no problem, but had to wait list the night of the Apr 7th.
I kept checking our ressies on-line each day hoping the wait list would come through. I didn't figure it would take very long for just 1 night to come through. I had put off making airline reservations, but by 11 Feb I decided to call to check availability elsewhere (at any DVC) so we could book our flight. The wait list came through as I was talking to MS. :thumbsup2

I think you have a good plan--stay with it. Last December (another very popular time to visit), we made a ressie for 1 night for a studio at BWV about 45 days prior and had the wait list come through for a second night at 7 days prior. Finally, the third night came through 5 days prior (we did have to call after 7 days prior). We did end up changing our room on the last night (it was a different room category)--but we felt we were pretty lucky to get all three nights at such a popular time.
