So, I'm seriously sad about the dole whip situation...

wait, we got one last week. we had a bet on buzz lightyear and the losers had to buy dole floats for everyone. my son in the middle and my cousin (sunglasses on head) both had one.

Maybe it's just the coloring on my monitor, but it looks like pineapple soft serve in the photo, not vanilla to me...

Yep, that's probably a better description -- kinda baby aspirin-like, but more Creamsicle.

Well this is horrible news! I just had a vanilla/pineapple twist at MK and at the Poly a month ago! It's my favorite!!!!

Where in MK did you get the van/pine. twist?? .... It went away back in the spring I was there in April and could not get the twist and they told me when they swapped locations is when the vanilla/pineapple twist went away.
Did they bring it back??

I've always been a proponent of pineapple/pineapple floats, but ive also never tried the vanilla. Though i wouldn't call that a dole whip then? isnt the point that its pineapple? Anyway, sorry to hear for those who enjoyed it, but at least maybe you can head to Poly and try it there, and enjoy how beautiful that resort is!

This saddens me greatly. I've been on board with all of the other changes Disney has made since 08 when we went on our first trip ever. I even embraced the Magic Band. But now I can't get my vanilla soft serve Pineapple Float at MK?

you asked them at the Poly? cuz that's where they got it....

but I was discussing it with my colleague, and he says that Disneyland ONLY has pineapple....I wasn't sure of that, so I went and looked...and WOW that tiki terrace is TINY! So I bet that is why they don't have vanilla over there......I just wish we had vanilla at Aloha Isle!

My DD30 told me the other day that she wanted to try a Dole Whip Float on this trip (in 3 wks!). I confess, in all the times we took the family to WDW, we never stopped for one -- ever! So now, after 30 years, my DD has found the nerve to speak up on this important matter! LOL I told DD that there was a choice of vanilla+pineapple or all-pineapple. She turned her nose up at the all-pineapple. This news might be a deal killer. (Last visit, I got a LeFou's Brew for DD, and that was a bust. You would have thought it was a big cup of BEVERLY!)

Personally, DH and I prefer the pineapple + pineapple combination, and we actually think DL's is better tasting than WDW's. But, hey, it's a Dole Whip at either park!

Great suggestion! If I don't end up doing this I'll just have to make a run over to the Poly. Either way, while reading that blog I scimmed another article and discovered the "spikey pineapple" at trader sams tiki terrace! Ohh and the coconut rum spiked pineapple whip soft serve at Tamu Tamu in AK! These sound delish!

I had thought about doing that when we were there, but I wanted my float to look pretty. Blame it on my high school job at Dairy Queen where the owner wanted everything we served to look as pretty and perfect as the pictures on the menus and posters. Of course when you get a Dole Whip Float at Disney World on a 100 degree day, it doesn't look pretty for more than about 10 seconds. The silver lining was that I finally tried the Dole Whip Float with the pineapple soft serve and liked it!

I always had only had the pineapple soft serve with the pineapple juice. Then, a couple of years ago, my husband and I went to order a Dole Whip and they asked us if we wanted pineapple soft serve, pineapple/orange swirl, or pineapple/vanilla swirl with the pineapple juice. What? How had this information not have been passed on to me before? Naturally, we had to try all three to figure out which was the best. There was no argument. We 100% agreed that the pineapple/vanilla swirl with pineapple juice was absolutely the best. No contest. Then, when we went earlier this year, we found out that the vanilla was no longer an option. We still do the pineapple with no real complaints, but we know it will always be in the back of our minds that it would just be a little bit better with a touch of vanilla.

There's a soft serve place right by my house that has official Dole Whip (orange, vanilla, and pineapple) "on tap." It was so exciting when we discovered it was there...now I'm just kinda over Dole Whip all together. It's far less special now that it's a few minutes away and not just a MK thing. #magicalworldproblems

Our family had our first Dole Whip in June. I knew that it would be pineapple/pineapple & the rest of the family had no clue. It was too much for all of us. I think the vanilla might help. I might just try making one at home with vanilla ice cream & pineapple juice to see how I like it!
