So, if you come in by car what alternate routes are there since I-4 is a mess?

We come from Illinois and never use I-4. We come in 75 to the florida turnpike and get off on 429 taking the Disney exit which brings you in alongside the Coronado Springs..

If you are coming down 95, take I4 to 417 at Sanford. It's a toll road, about $7 or $8 each way. It's perfect.

That's what we do when we during up from Miami. Turnpike to the 429. Strait shot and plenty of places to stop and grab a bite to eat on the 429.

For east coast drivers, crossing west to I-75 and 429 is not trivial, but the FL 417 alternate route is trivial.

From Jacksonville, getting to WDW the I-75 and 429 way is about 3hrs 15min, going the I-4 and 417 way is about 2 hrs 55min. Time is not that far apart, but you make a number of road changes the west way.

(But I-75 and 429 are great for those coming from the West, central or Midwest!)

From the east, you could avoid I4 by taking 95 down to SR407 to SR528 (Beachline) It's about 20 more miles and about 20 more minutes. That will bring you back to I4 south of the construction.

We come from Kentucky and come in the same way (at the end of the trip at least). I-4 would be well out of our way compared to this route. This is a great route, and we hardly see any traffic once we got off of I-75.
