We just did flowers and dinner for our 21st. I don't expect a big gift with every anniversary. A couple of them have been pizza and a movie rental. Once I got a single rose, another year a dozen tulips. Always a funny card. DH has made things for me on some anniversaries too. One year he hand made and painted heart shaped magnets for the fridge or whatever. I still have those. Another year, I got a wheelbarrow with a heart and the # of years we'd been married painted on the side-that was a great year! I did get a long strand of beautiful black pearls one year and another year a gorgeous solataire diamond to go beside my wedding ring. Sapphire earrings one year. We don't look at what the retail stores want us to buy. It's always a gift or day that's heartfelt.
hubby and i will be married for 3 years on july 7th...we're saving the money we'd buy with gifts to eat a romantic dinner in epcot in october!
i usually ask for weird things too...camera battery for mothers day. dishwasher for xmas...w/d for thanksgiving. lol he's always amazed at the weird things i want. lol
Several years ago I suggested to DH that we forego gifts and just do a nice dinner out. Well, we are apparently a jinx. The last five anniversaries we ate out, all five of the restaurants closed, including two that had been open for more than 15 years!!
We're almost scared to make reservations any where else, so I guess that is why I got the shamwow.
Well, you need all the Shamwows to wipe down the anniversary china and to prepare for all the silver that's going to need polishing. Makes sense to me. (Not! )
Our 23rd anniversary was yesterday. We just went to the O. Henry Hotel for dinner. We're not much into gifts. Sometimes we give them, sometimes we don't. We're talking about going back to Hawaii for our 25th.
