dealing with this right now oursleves - dd's toenail just fell off - I told her to keep a band-aid on it until it stops looking so yucky. I told her noone wants to look @ it looking so gross - lol

My mom lost her nail on her big toe like 40 years ago and it never grew back. She still wears sandels all the time. You cant tell unless you are closely looking at her foot and i dont know why you would be doing that.

I lost my finger nail when i was a kid, my hand got slammed in a door. i still feel sick thinking about it.

Why don't you tell her not to care what others think? My DH dropped a piece of plywood on his big toe last fall and "macerated" his toenail. It had to be pulled off and he only has 1/2 of one right now. He doesn't wear sandals ever, but it's obvious when we go to the pool. We don't care. There are too many people overly concerned with what others think of them.

It's not always what other people think about you ... sometimes it's about how you feel about the way you look. Some people feel less confident if something about their appearance is "off".
