So I thought I'd jazz things up a bit and write an essay onPLEASE READ MY UPDATE PG2!

WOAH! I didn't realise I'd upset so many people! I should have been more clear.
I didn't just decide to write it! It was an essay title out of three to choose from and we had a lecture on it yesterday so I thought I'd give it a shot!

It wasn't just denying the holocaust, it was how can the arguments of holocaust deniers be defended and to what extent? I was actually going to conclude that it was 'not enough of an extent' and was a load of ****

I wanted to write it because my lecturer knows I'm the only jewish person in the class and tries to persuade me that given the nature of the module (interpretations of the holocaust) I should try to be more objective. Because I'm usually the only one in the class unwilling to be open minded about such things.

As for saying 'jazz up', I apologise for that, I wrote it following another thread about how much I didn't want to write my essay, so I meant jazz up in the sense that it would at least be interesting.

Actually in the end I decided it was too hard to be unbias and wrote my essay on something else.

I haven't been back to post for a while so I didn't realise this thread had got so far. :confused3

But it's nice to know so many people here thought so little of me before I even posted that. And I will reiterate one last time, I don't post anything to shock or lie or get attention.... :worried:

You know, I really really try hard to avoid your threads, and so far I've done really well. But you've hit a hot button with me and while I'll probably type this out and delete it, I had to say something.

This "holocaust denial" movement is a sick, sick thing, and I for one would never think to give them any credence, even pretend, even for school, for ONE MINUTE. The fact that you say you are Jewish makes this even less understandable to me.

Those who know me know I am one of the more tolerant people around, but this makes me :crazy2: .

I don't post on this board much so I don't know the past of the person who started it but I do remember that when I was in college, I had to do pro and con papers for one class. We were assigned hot topics and we had to write a convincing paper pro and a convincing paper con. Maybe this person has an assignment like that.:confused3
Thank you RealMickeysGirl! that's exactly what it was!

Just curious, what are you studying?

It's a module called 'interpretations of the holocaust', that considers all the different interpretations and understanding of the holocaust that historians have written.

So, the very flippant title, etc, was what...a teaser? Sad.
It honestly wasn't, I wasn't even expecting anyone to reply, I just typed it quickly before I got on with my essay.

Sorry, I meant what is the overall qualification (ie English ALevel, BA Humanities)?

There is a class on such a thing??!!?!! How many interpretations are there? It happened, six million people were murdered, scores of others lived in fear, end of story.

Then why bother posting at all?

I just typed it quickly before I got on with my essay.

If this were a continuation of another topic, perhaps you'd have been better off actually continuing ON the original topic.

Have you no friends to discuss school topics with? Must you post ALL of your thoughts on the DIS?

I think that's just plain sad.

It will be BAhistory with Spanish
Thanks. Interesting combination, history and spanish.

I thought you graduated college late last year and then decided to take the secretarial postition for $100,000 a year?? :confused3

strangely enough I was sat in front of my computer doing my essay and that's why I posted on here, just as plenty of others do.
But really, thank you for your KIND words :sad1:

I thought the OP had just got a job at 100k p.a? Is this a distance learning course or a course she's taking whilst working at the same time? :confused3 I've lost track.

No, in the UK we only graduate in June. But we have to start looking for graduate jobs late in the year before.
And I actually didn't take that role (as I've posted here) but once again, in an effort to prove I'm not a liar, such jobs do exist: http://www.secsinthecity.co.uk/php/job_115425.html

that wasn't the specific job I was offered but a similar one.

I was offered the role for when I graduate. I got the experience temping in the same role outside of term time.

Wow, you must be lucky. I have worked in the finance industry for about nine years and have never ever seen this type of post offered to someone fresh out of uni - no matter what experience they may have gained during school holidays...

Yeah I think I was just in the right place at the right time. I worked for a particular guy who was very senior and his assistant (who was also office/finance manager for the dept) is due to leave around the same time I graduate. He asked me if I'd take the position when I graduate. (consequently I said 'no')

So what was the one you interviewed for and signed the letters? Will you have to move to take it up or can you stay where you are at present? what's the protocol for these things ; will they let you have a holiday for a couple of weeks or do you take it up straight after your exams....or is it conditional on your results?
