So I spoke to Chris today at the Disney ticket office...

With all the changes to the tickets in the last couple days, I figured I would just call down and find out what is going on.

I talked to Chris, I asked him about adding days to the 5 day parkhopper when we arrived there. He asked his "lead" and came back on the phone. This is the info I got from him:
- They have stopped issuing anymore than a 5 day hopper due to the amount of fraud going on with the tickets (one bad apple, spoils the bunch!)
- With regards to adding days, this was a no. They no longer are doing this.
We wanted 8 days in the parks, I would have to buy a 5 day hopper AND a 3 day hopper. My parkhoppers just became more expensive than my return flights down to California!:scared1:

Guess I will try to sit tight and hope some promotions come out prior to November.:sad2:

What a headache....let's pray for a miracle... I never really liked the add at the the gate option too vague, nothing in writing, I don't like surprises.

Wow, that's crazy. I wonder if it makes more sense to get an AP instead. We ordered our 7 day parkhopper tickets a little while ago for our summer trip, but also wondering about what to do going forward. :confused3

ShaunaM - yes, let's hope somethig better comes along. We are in the same boat.

You know it seems like a lot of the changes they recently made were to deal with fraud/people taking advantage of loose rules. I know with the club 33 change I read somewhere that some members were making reservations for thousands a year; so they were most likely selling them. This seems like a similar sort cause to the new shorter hoppers :( I love the six days. This sucks for us too.

Time for some kind of biometric, even if it is just snapping your pic with a $5 web cam, to cut out the fraud with the hoppers. That would be MUCH better than limiting the hopper to 5 days max.

Agreed. It takes all of 30 seconds to get your costco picture done. They'd probably have to open more ticket booths though. Having a proper card with your pic would almost justify the price increase. :lmao:

I'm scratching my head. If this is true, it seems like they are going to lose alot of revenue - I would think something else could be done about the fraud? We come from the Midwest and are slow park-goers so we like to spend 6-7 days in the two Parks. But we will choose not to pay the extra
$75ish dollars per person for an extra day, so Disney will lose a night's hotel stay, and a day of food purchases from us.

I feel very lucky we got our tix before the changes....

So can you no longer add a day to your hopper pass when you get to the gate and pay the difference?

For example: Last year we purchased 3-day hoppers and we ended up checking into the hotel earlier than we anticipated so we added a 4th day to our passes for $15 each.

Is this no longer allowed?

I wanna know if this is still allowed too.

Sounds to me like not more additions beyond the 5 days.

Yah I am getting that impression too. Hopefully not. I always get the 8 day hopper and if I do that now, it will cost me well over $400 per person rather then about $230. I'm probably gonna just start getting annual passes.

I specifically asked Chris if I was able to add days to my 5 day hopper at the gate. This is when he went and spoke to his "lead". The answer was a no. If I wanted to buy for example, hoppers for 8 days, I was going to have to buy a 5 day hopper AND a 3 day hopper.

It's entirely possible Chris and his "lead" are not even aware adding days to tickets at the gate is possible and just wanted to sell you a solution they can offer over the phone which is two separate tickets.

I'm sure people will try to add days in the coming weeks and will report back. There was a thread about adding a day to a 6-day hopper and the OP agreed to report back. I believe their trip was mid June. Here

Until multiple people are denied at the gate, I wouldn't take this as official.

Yep. I thought I saw a thread just in the last three or four days where a poster indicated they had added days to a hopper, I think they had gone from six to eight, and were trying to add a ninth, and that was turned down, but they had no problems going from six to eight at the main customer service area aka Town Hall just off Main Street.

You are absolutely correct and I hope that is the issue. If anyone has any experiences in the near future, I hope they will update us!

ShaunaM found 8 day hoppers still at flightcentre.ca. I called and have my quote on the way also! Yay!

You can add hoppers to the tickets in your cases. It appears that the limit is 5-day park hoppers, and we're being told that we cannot extend beyond the 5-day hoppers.

I really think they need to ask for ID with an AP, even with photos on computer. I know a "friend" that shares an AP with his twin. He's been doing this for years. One goes in with a friend, then the friend goes back outside the gate with the AP to let the other brother in. I know twins are rare, but I bet I could do it with my sister. Most ticket CMs just glance at the photo anyway.

I'm not sure if it's the same "Chris"....but a few months ago I had a question about the AP I was buying, and the "Chris" I spoke with was VERY adamant about a specific bit of information. (I also called a few days later to confirm the info with a 2nd CM...who DID say the same thing that "Chris" said...). However, when I got to the ticket booth to actually pick up our AP's...the CM at the ticket booth did the exact OPPOSITE of what "Chris" said they would do.

Just goes to confirm what others have said about how what happens on the phone, and what happens at the ticket booth can be two totally different things.
